AMA seeks to please jap daddies

2004 AMA Superbike Proposal

AMA Pro Racing is considering the elimination of the 750cc-800cc four cylinder and the 900cc three cylinder engine categories from the Superbike class beginning in 2004. The result would be as follows:

(a) One allowable engine displacement category of 901cc - 1000cc regardless of the number of cylinders.

(b) Common technical specifications for all 901cc - 1000cc Superbikes regardless of the number of cylinders.

Sorry Ducati, sorry Aprilia, AMA Pro Racing needs to please their Jap daddies.

What a bunch of crooks.

I've read the rules for Supersport. Somehow the factory teams are making 130 rwhp. If FX machines aren't making significantly more, I'll be very surprised.

Rog....you were doing just fine until you let the word "think" slip in.

Try it again.

What??? Am I understanding correctly that AMA Pro Racing has dropped the propsed FX class re-structuring that would allow Buell to participate?

Take back the AMA? Need I remind you I was the first to post about John Ulrich's campaign here two years ago before you decided to take up the cause?

What's interesting and what you should look into Blake is why Jeff Nash, Ken Sutton of HARLEY-DAVIDSON and six others voted against disolving the AMA Pro Racing Board when they had the chance September 22nd, while John Ulrich, Mel Harris of Suzuki, Dan Smilie and Jeff Smith voted to dissolve it.

Next time I talk to Jeff I'll ask him. But the "board" is not the problem. The problem is the entire AMAPR organization existing as a for profit entity that was given carte blanche the name and affiliation of the AMA and all the associated benefits. I agree with Ms. Ulrich, the whole thing needs to go. A serious lawsuit on behalf of AMA members is in order.

Getting rid of the board is the first step in that process, and Jeff and Mr. Sutton voted against it, which is odd, especially for Jeff, since he was part of the "Take Back the AMA" campaign.

I guess since Ducati 748's are in Formula Extreme he's not going to rock the boat, IMHO.

You may be correct.

The saga continues (Ulrich holds nothing back)...

From http://www.amasuperbike.com/2003-Dec/031211a.htm, a quote from Mat Mladin...

quote:

"Even the 600cc Supersport bikes are doing 270kph (170mph) on the (Daytona) banking."

Question... How much RWHP does it take to push a bike to 170 mph at Daytona?
