Man! This sure has cleared up some quandaries!
And made some new ones.

Well, there was this speech impeded dog....

And, when somebody is recovering from something, or starting something, or dodging something or moaning about something, or almost any something, it's fun to say
Rotzaruck!

BSD (pronounced 'beastie') = Berkeley Software Distribution, an open source UNIX operating system. I'm a once upon a time computer geek - passionate until I started working with them for a living (and forced into using Microsoft products).

Fool is self explanatory.

Long ago and far away, my brothers, in the little town of Cambridge, Mass, there were not very many young gentleman who rode motorcycles.

In fact, there were practically none.

Men were men back in the day, and sporting motor bicycles tended to be English.

There was an eccentric old guy, (about 25), named TR Jackson, who had some garages known as the "pits", where he worked on sporting English iron of both the two wheel and four wheel variety.

It was his habit to give all of his friends and clients nicknames. He called me Gentleman Jon.

Looks like it stuck.

That was over fifty years ago.

Old 1SG and CO gave me this nick name in Afghanistan. It has a lot to do with getting missions done that no other NCO in the company would volunteer for and I pull it off. Kinda the "go to" force to be reckoned with.

I'm now in my 19th year in the USAF. My first Buell was a '98 S3...or a 'Thunderbolt' as they are called. Since I am too blind to fly the other ones (A-10 or P-47), this was the only T-bolt I'd ever get to pilot.

Nittanyxt; I meant that question for Gentleman Jon. Mack's Motorcycles in Everett, MA was an old time dealership that specialized in British bikes, and was pretty significant in my early riding days. There were quite a few memorable characters involved with motorcycles back then. "Lucky" Thiebeault (he had the Globe of Death), Sam "the Bandit" Avellino (at first, he sold Indians; later, Royal Enfields) and a host of others.

2535hp Pratt & Whitney R-2800-59W Double Wasp radial piston engine still stands the hair up on my arms. It had a lot of similarities and problems that matched..
Well it came close to sounding like one. The frame matched the profile of a Jug. So voila!!!!
When I registered it some one else had already done P-47 so I put the B designation on the end for xB.
I still want to dump the person off here and take over P-47.......

First used it as my user account on the family computer. Then as my email addy, and now on all forums I join.

I like the idea of stealth. Of being quiet, and coming out of no where. I like the idea of having power available to you, but not showing it until necessary. I like the phrase: speak softly, and carry a big stick.

Buells are a good example of that. Not real loud, but powerful.

Crusty,

Thanks for bringing back those memories. Motorcycle shops were far and few between back in the day, and one certainly did not meet the nicest people riding a Honda.

I remember Mack very well. He was pretty well on in years when in knew him in the late fifties, he claimed that he had worked on the construction of the Panama Canal, and had a photo on the wall to prove it.

He didn't suffer fools gladly, but he had a sense of humor under a gruff exterior. I will never forget a joke he told when I turned up there with an English Lady. He could turn on the charm too.

Another old timer that I remember was Pete Andrews. Motorcycles in those days needed a lot of work all the time, but if you wanted Pete to do a valve job, he expected you to just bring in the head.

Didn't have room in his little wood-floored shop for the whole damn machine, he would say.

I was able to secure one of the final production M2 models to come off the line, before the change to the XB design. Had wanted one for many years. Still miss that bike. Really wish I could have kept it.

Mine is a nickname dating back to my childhood. My rotten drunken lush of a mother, (who never seemed to care much for me) is the one who started calling me "Skinstains". I suffer from a skin disease (Hemangiectatic Algoneurodystrophy Syndrome)that covers most of my body with scaley flakey redish/purpleish/greenblueish patches. She thought it was funny I suppose. Well it stuck and was an inescapable reminder of my condition (and of my horrible mother). Well that miserable slob has been dead for many years now(ha ha, I hope you're in Hell)and I figured that to wear the monicker she gave me "proudly" instead of ashamedly (as I had most of my life) would be the proverbial spit-in-the-face that c*nt deserved !

Or...because I have a couple of tattoo's...
