I like to wear cooking vessels on my head, especially late at night when no one is up. Or; I've used up a lot of bikes including about a dozen HDs. I still own the first one. ('50 FL chopper). Friends have called me Pan Dan or Panhead Dan (or worse) since around 1979. (Message edited by panhead_dan on February 15, 2011) |
Satori

Well when I signed up, I was wanted something that could explain how it felt to ride a Buell, the feeling the first time I did. then I remembered a term from Zen buddism that I had learned in a Theology class years back. The definition is below Satori (悟り?) (Chinese: 悟; pinyin: wł; Korean 오 is a Japanese Buddhist term for enlightenment that literally means "understanding". In the Zen Buddhist tradition, satori refers to a flash of sudden awareness, or individual enlightenment, and is considered a "first step" or embarkation toward nirvana. Satori is typically juxtaposed with the related term kensho, which translates as "seeing one's nature". Kensho experiences tend to be briefer glimpses, while satori is considered to be a deeper spiritual experience. Satori is an intuitive experience and has been described as being similar to awakening one day with an additional pair of arms, and only later learning how to use them Very cool thread. |

I used to have a 1979 Corvette with sidepipes. I know it is unoriginal but it works.

My last names Thomas. I race RC cars and when Puffdaddy changed his name to Pdiddy several years ago, I thought that was the stupidest name so I started using it when I raced as a joke. |

Strato9r

Aside from my day job as a machinist, I've been repairing guitars for as long as I've been playing them, over thirty years. About six years ago, I actually went through all of my invoices, and found out that I'd made about ten grand working on Fender Stratocasters alone. I happened to have nearly that amount stashed away in a sock (really. My ex was not interested in doing anyone's laundry, which made it the perfect hiding spot.) After my joyful divorce, I was at Lethbridge Buell/H-D on a completely unrelated matter, and was floored by the most perfect motorcycle I'd ever seen, an '03 Firebolt. Less than a week later, I took a test ride, and that was it; that 9r came home with me, and that sock full of cash (minus sock) was cheerfully handed over to the Dealership. So, the money I made fixing Strats paid for my 9r, and every cent I've spent on it since has come from repairing Strats. |

My previous career was as an automotive painter. After mixing paints in a can, the can was placed on a machine that shook the paint to mix it. Vibrated to all hell and had a steady, stacatto sound. Kinda like the first Buell I bought; a 98 S1W. |

well, i guess most people assume its because i dont like rice... but that is incorrect! i love me some fried rice or sweet and sour chicken... yumm! then they assume i dont like asian people and say im some sort of anti semitic or whatever they feel like calling it. which is also not true. even the fiance knows i have a soft spot for asian women and used to run around with one... its just one of those things... kind of like red heads... lol. she knows i love her! but... it is because when i first got my original 03 xb9r in the spring of 04 i had been out of bikes for years and had no gear. a friend of mine had a brand new harley coat sitting in his closet and had sold his bike so he gave it to me. hd may not be everyones cup of tea, but they have had some good quality leather over the years so i wore it for a long time before forking out for new stuff. anyway, id roll up to a light or something(one time was right in front of my hd and buell shop) and have someone yell out the window "why you wearing a harley coat on that rice crap..." hence the name and license plate no_rice. Mine, I dunno. Most everything I like uses a lot of energy. Hot showers, Fast vehicles, etc. My Carbon Footprint is significant, I'm sure. Also, trying to point out the lunacy of the whole Carbon issue with respect to global warming (OR lack thereof). Tree-Huggers... <sigh> But I love all you guys! |

E-Tenn-Uly. Well after owning a new '05 City-X and reading about the '06 Uly coming out(which is what I really was looking for when I bought the City-X, but it hadn't been announced yet).....I wanted really bad to be the first in East Tennessee to own one. Due to circumstance(they were pre-sold) I did not get the first Uly in the area, but I was quick enough to sign up with the name when joining BadWeB a couple weeks after landing one. It is kind of fun to hear how people try to pronounce it. It was meant to be hyphenated from the start. Most people just call me Vern. |

When driving is fun (car or bike) I sometimes think of the "Speedbuggy" cartoon I watched as a kid. Mel Blanc would say "A-room-a-zoom-zoom" when speedbuggy would accelerate. I think of it often when I am riding, seemed like a good forum name. Elaine |

Was dubbed "Firemanjim" by the infamous Ferris Bueller many moons ago,IIRC we were at the Streets of Willow doing a trackday gig during one of the American Sportbike Festivals---you know, when Buell put on GREAT events-- and we had just come in from a session and he said "I was following you and you had smoke coming off your boots." Seemed I was leaning a bit more than usual and had ground my boot unbeknownst to me!!!! |

Because every time I got on a bike or taught an MSF class, it would pour rain. Finally, while riding with a buddy who put together a beginning riders ride through the Blue Ridge, I would lead for an hour or so and it would pour rain, thunder, lightning, hell breaking loose in heaven. He'd get on the bike and I'd drive the chase truck for an hour and the sun would come out and birds would sing like freakin' Disney's Snow White in the forest. Finally, after a long hour of hail and rain and a 20-minute layover under a gas station awning, the sun came out and we went to get back on the bikes. As I threw my leg over the bike, a very shy, quiet, unassuming woman who hadn't said boo to anyone for the whole trip suddenly shouted "J...Chr...t, don't let the f&*king Rain Man back on the bike." It stuck. (Message edited by Rainman on February 16, 2011) |
