Real Performance Machines is a 4X4 club I started 11 years ago. www.rpm4x4.com Im very proud of what we have become and are well respected in our area.
You've heard the story: The facts as best could be determined are that the operator of the 1967 Impala hit JATO ignition at a distance of approximately 3.0 miles from the crash site. This was established by the prominent scorched and melted asphalt at that location. The JATO, if operating properly, would have reached maximum thrust within 5 seconds, causing the Chevy to reach speeds well in excess of 350 mph and continuing at full power for an additional 20-25 seconds. The driver, soon to be pilot, most likely would have experienced G-forces usually reserved for dog-fighting F-14 jocks under full afterburners, basically causing olé Zippy to become insignificant for the remainder of the event. However, the automobile remained on the straight highway for about 2.5 miles (15-20)seconds before the driver applied and completely melted the brakes, blowing the tires and leaving thick rubber marks on the road surface, then becoming airborne for an additional 1.4 miles and impacting the cliff face at a height of 125 feet leaving a blackened crater 3 feet deep in the rock.
Most of the driver's remains were not recoverable; however, small fragments of bone, teeth and hair were extracted from the crater and fingernail and bone shards were removed from a piece of debris believed to be a portion of the steering wheel. Zippy became my email name with my first computer in 95,morphed to Ziptab on most all forums, Changed to Just_ziptab here when I could not log in as ziptab.
my last name is 'Vanella' when i walk into a room, it is not uncommon for someone to bust into song with 'allright, stop. collaborate and list-en. ice is back with a ....'
i shoulda put an underscore or just dropped the 'ice'. i don't need to encourage the singing.
Joined wayback...gonna have to click my own profile to see exactly when. Had my '99 M2 at the time, logged 24k in 2 years on that bike and like my Uly (must be an orange thing)...it only got washed in the rain.
Rat Bike...a Buell...a Ratbuell.
Huh.
I thought your profile page showed your registration date in addition to "last logged in" date...hmm. Maybe someone can help me, now I'm curious. When *did* I show up around here?
CB radio days in the 70s. (Gawd! I feel old!) When I bought my first new car, it had the screaming eagle (OK. Some say it's a chicken!) on the hood. My brother was Steel Tiger, so I took Steel Eagle. The legend lives on, if only in my alleged mind.
Back in the prehistoric times of the inter-web my family shared a single dial up connection and a single screen name. We didn't see any need to have multiple names and passwords. Also I was kinda the go to person for some of my siblings, Dad, etc.. for inter-web crap. At some point I started using Dalton Gang because if something was posted it could have been from any one of maybe 7 or 8 different Daltons. Also I get asked almost weekly if I'm related to the infamous Dalton Gang. Now I'm pretty much the only one who uses it. I know that it's weird that I refer to myself in the plural but I'm used to it.
I was a bartender in college, used to go over to the fraternity house after work and it was always "where's the liquor D-day?" Didn't really catch the play on words until I sent a girl an email and she sent a message back asking who I was licking and where.....so there ya go.
The name of my hobby custom knifemaking business is Ravensmith Knives. Ravensmith was taken on another forum,so I added 22, my jersey number for the Dubliner Pub FC.
It's what everyone calls me... my name and first initial of my family name. It was s'posed to be ShellyO (and pronounced Shelly-Oh!!) but I couldn't get the second capital letter.
This is the first forum I ever joined. Though it sad to say, the only one I ever joined. Must be because this boards got it all, I guess. Any way, I bought the first black '08 uly to hit the dealer here. Didn't think I stick around long, so I didn't get too creative other than the underscore woopie!! Now three years later, with the uly gone. I still lurk every day at least once. Old lady thinks I got a girl friend here or something! LOL
