Where is it leaking? (Besides on the floor of your garage)

No, it is not common.

Is it a leak, or is it just seeping out through the cases? The seals down there take a little while to break in, and will seep. Wetness around the seam is normal during break-in. But, if it's leaking out onto the floor, that's not normal.

It is leaking from the right side hoses and down underneath and yes it is on the floor.

Sounds like the oil lines going to the oil pump. The factory might have missed one of the clamps. This is a rare thing to happen.

I had a faulty oil pressure sending unit on a new Blast last year; oil was coming out where the Bakelite met the housing. Saw this a lot on older Moto Guzzis so it wasn't much of a surprise.

1nurse1,
some other things to check:
- The corner of the airbox has been known to scrape the oil lines going past it.
- Sometimes oily goo leaks out of the airbox.

I don't really think either of these is your problem, since your bike is new, but they're easy things to check.

UPDATE dealer says it was a BELT that cut through the hose like a razor??? Doesn't make sense, design flaw or assembly issue. I hope the rest of the bike isn't assembled like that. Anyway they are STILL waiting for part one week now. I am glad it is not Summer or even Spring. Thanks for the input, I guess I can edit my profile to include my first problem at 0 miles.

Sounds like the line wasn't gathered tight with a zip cord to keep it away from the belt - an oops at assembly - not a common occurance at all - sorry it happened to you - glad to hear its being resolved though!

Does a rocker box gasket leak pose a threat to engine longevity and performace if not corrected right away? I belive I may have had a minor leak for some time, but since I kept the bike clean and rode gently most of the time, I didn't notice it until I removed the tank.

not really - more oil consumption - and smoke and the smell of burning oil - the immediate down sides - lol

Thank you EZ. Is is necessary to lower the engine to replace the rocker box gasket? I bet the procedure is posted somewhere here, but I did not find it.

Well, I think I did it right. My 2002 Blast did have the paper rockerbox gaskets. I am encouraged by my apparent success. I think I will tension the primary chain now. I am not impressed by the level of committment to Buells that Wild Boar Harley has shown me the last two years... So I guess I will learn to do it myself. If anyone is going to the Blessing of the Bikes in Baldwin MI, Feel free to stop at my cabin just a short distance down the road from the blessing!

Buellboy, you better put a sign out front so we know where to stop!
Last time I went to Wild Boar the parts guy was real anxious to order parts, they are the closest ones to me now that Mt Pleasant and Shiawassee stopped carrying Buells.

So, um, whats the downside to using ultra blue permatex instead of buying the new rocker gasket? I was short on cash when my gasket went last year, and had my trusty tube of ultra blue, and used that. No leaks yet, but anyone have any experience w/ this on their Blast? I've used it on my cars and trucks over the years, and never had a problem. Just wonderin.

The only thing I get nervous about is the Blue Goo squeezing out into the engine and becoming free born, possibly plugging the oil pickup.

I didn't make it too thick. I've gotten pretty good w/ the stuff. I made a nice thin bead along the surface of the cover, I didn't even get the usual ooze out of the side. Hopefully I'll be ok, as it was a pain in the a$$ without the manual. It'll be easier no tho, with the previous experience and the manual.

If any blue was gonna break off, it would have by now. Just as long as you dont re use the same Permatex gasket, you should be fine. Good stuff when used properly.
If you had used it on the Carb, that would be an entirely different story!

Yeah, I wouldnt use it on the carb or head gasket. Gas eats it up. There are a few other gaskets I wouldnt use it for either.

Whoo-hoo!! Thank you fellow Badwebbers for the help concerning my little "Mary's"clutch cover leak!
Part #25349-03 worked like a charm!
(new metal cover & rubber/metal gasket.)
My clutch cable was also leaking from what appeared to be a crimp in the middle from some sort of factory mishap.I had the cable replaced at the same time as the cover, man even the feel is different now!
(I guess my cable was in bad need of adjustment as well)
I rode 2-up all day yesterday in the 90 degree Fl sun with no sign of leak or hiccup!!
My dealer (Seminole H-D/Buell)has even started talking about Buell like they talk about H-D! They had 8 Buells on the sales floor and I actually saw Buell customers there! Labor rate is $70.00hr. (cheaper than most around here)
Side note: Thanks Naustin for the help when I was dealing with that M in M guy.

I noticed my bike started leaking oil this morning after my morning ride, there was 2 large drops of oil on the floor near the breather hose and I traced the leak. The hoses/wiring behind and below the air filter box have a coating of oil which can be easily seen on the right side. I opened the air filter box and there was about a teaspoon of oil. Is the oil coming from air box? I am not sure this is the cause. Since it is spitting oil on the rear of the bike (rear tire, brake) I need to resolve this problem ASAP. If anyone has any ideas of what I should inspect please advise.

Yes - the EPA decided that you need oil in your carb, but the nozzle usually drips instead, and most people point it away from the carb for better engine performance. So clean out your airbox regularly - it is your spit can!

How does oil in the carb help? How often is regularly?
Thanks EZ

EPA doesn't want that oil spilling back into the environment, so it is shot into the carb - that is the theory, about once a month or after any long ride.
