Hello All,

Green horn member here. I'm an new and
accidental Buell rider / aficiando....

My daughter purchased a 2001 Red Blast with 2400 on it from a friend about a year ago with plans to get her license and start riding. Well things happened, she moved to Florida, never got her license, never rode the bike and left the bike with me to hold down the garage.

I currently ride a '75 K75S. My son is on a GORGEOUS Honda GB500. The Blast just sat.

I decided to do more than ride it up and down the street for its exercise and registered and insured it and actually took it for a ride a few days ago.

Well, I'm a convert. I loved it! Great torque, great single sound and it handled very competently. I was pleasantly suprised.

OK, finally to the point. When I parked the bike after about two hours of riding there was a small blob/puddle (bigger than a blob, smaller than a puddle) on the ground on the left side. I traced it as best I could to way up on the engine. Somewhere on the fins it seemed, maybe on top somewhere...

Checked the oil level, I think it's overfull.

Any guesses?

Sorry for the overlong post, it's partly my introduction to everyone here....

Best,
Jeff, Sparta, NJ

Welcome Jeff! I used to work at the Stanhope Hess!
More than likely its the rocker cover gasket leak that happened before they changed gasket materials in 2002. I dont remember if it was recalled or just a warranteed repair.
Not hard to replace if you have the repair manual.
Congratulations finding out that the bike is a 'Blast' to ride!

I'd second the rockerbox gasket leak... There is a ton of info about it if you search.
