>>>Breaking that tie is a BIG issue that needs to happen.

I assure you that the descendants of George (who made a nifty $985,000,000 in a single afternoon when the pound was "set free") are eagerly waiting. My wives firm is a small private firm that does nothing but bet currencies against each other.

It's an interesting business and too scary for me.

Try telling her that . . . I see you've never met her.

: )

Both Erik and I have wives who prove you don't have to be very big to be REALLY tough!

Yeah and Erik didn't hang you out for harboring an "unlisted amplifier" acquired in her absence.

Not a problem . . . he's temporarily cornered in "guitar purgatory" and I'm about ready to make my next move.

: )

I haven't really kept up in this thread, because there is so much garbage in it. But I get the impression there is some good stuff hidden in here. I wish there were a way to extract the useful posts.

I don't understand the point anti-HD of some of you, I bought my XB because it had a HD-like engine. I like HD and if I was living in Miami probably will have a Fatboy or a VROD, but for the twisty roads in Mallorca (Spain) and for urban rides it's much better an XB, maybe I only trade it for an Ulysses. The 1125R is a great improvement for the Buell company and will appeal to many people that don't like HD. I think that's smart, if they don't drop the HD connection, now HD-Buell have a bike that can compete in specs (and price) with any other.

Jim,
Think before you speak.
Even if you knew his wife, and you'd had a drink or two, that kind of talk might find you laying on your back looking up at the chandelier.

I think 'Jimi' is making a joke about HIS wife, he probably only has one person to fear there, and like the rest of us that FEAR is a well known and appreciated factor already!

Many of my sportbike riding buddies are anti-harley. In my opinion, harley itself is to blame for some of the ridicule aimed at it. Walk into most HD shops and you see more clothes and chrome than bikes. I went to one HD store that had a grand total of 4 bikes for sale, then had the next three big rooms devoted entirely to clothing and accessories. It's obvious they're selling image, as long as that image has a harley logo attached.
But that's a business plan that's worked for harley and its many customers, so who's to argue with success?
I do know that the 1125R has garnered interest among the sportbike crowd I hang with. They've never cared a whit about Buells before because of that archaic Sportster engine, great handling be damned. But now, I think you'll see a lot more hardcore sport riders suddenly entering the previously forbidden zone of HD stores.

And bringing in their Ducs for trade too ;) Have already priced out two monsters for trade-in on the 1125R (and it is a painful wholesale number) IF I had the bike already, I know it would have already been sold (hint to Buell to get me the bikes on the west coast before our riding season ends!)

Is this the future Buell?

ecossespirit

Have a look at http://www.ecossespirit.com
At least it's inspired on Buell, look at the front brake and muffler. The rest is Formula 1 technology.

That Spirit looks amazing. I read about it in a moto-rag earlier this week.

I actually emailed the folks at Ecosse about how great their other custom bikes looked while regretting that I might never have enough money to purchase one.

They sent me a t-shirt...which I thought was pretty cool.

and there is therein lies the crux...great observation!
