WTF Where are all the 2009 Blasts?!?! They didnt make the brochure, even the latest one (99380-09vb) And trying to steal one for a customer locally; I find that there are 5 2009's Listed NATIONALLY!

Inquiring minds want to know, where are all the Blasts? did they go the way of the honeybees? or worse the route of the Dirt Bike ?

That's why I bought a used one. Both dealers in Central/South Indiana said it would be like 3 months before they saw any new Blasts show up. WTF??

Cityxslicker-One of the '09 Blasts is sitting in your service department. For the third time. My wife is hoping it stays with us the next time we get it back.

Anybody have a clue what's up with the Blast? Is it being made? Are they limited? Will there be something new soon for Riders Edge or will they only make it for Riders Edge?

Hey, 9 years is a long time in bike years.

I know that Hal's got 20 for RE, but haven't heard about any other mass shipments. They are on the website as 2009 - maybe a an update will happen.

I was at my local dealership yesterday and commented on the lack of Blasts in the showroom...they said they are waiting for some...a friend is having no better luck finding a new Kawi 250 for his son...

The Big Kid works at the College Bike Shop, in Lansing, and they recieved a long awaited delivery of a 2009 black Ninja 250(much sought after color and due to gas prices, engine size) as soon as the delivery truck driver unloaded the bike from the back of the truck, he hopped back up into the cab and then backed over the bike as it sat in the box in the parking lot!

backed over the bike as it sat in the box in the parking lot!

SPARE PARTS!!!! LOL!!!

I noticed too that the Blast! is missing from the latest "Best of the inexpensive, easy to ride, potentially great on gas, nice to learn on bikes" list from the September issue of Cycle World. 3 Dual sports, the requisite Honda Nighthawk/ Kawi 250R, an Aprilia Scooter, the new Suzuki GSX650F, and VERY surprisingly the XL883 Sportster... But alas... No Blast! Not looking good guys... UNLESS... There is a Rotax derived single mated to a six-speed trans, pumping out a detuned 45 factory HP and a big power jump is as easy as plugging in a black box to the ECU, replacement planned for the P3 that just happens to share common motor/trans/control mounting points for the Blast! frame. In which case, THANKS ERIK!!! Otherwise

I would settle for an XB Blast! In 2010?

I stopped at a Buell store in Muskegon, MI today during "Lunch" and the sales guy said he had two 09 Blasts coming in but they were dedicated to the replacement of two 06 Riders Edge Blasts.

On another board - for what its worth:

Well, our local paper here in Milwaukee (home of Harley, keep that in mind before ripping me a new one) profiled the 1125cr, or the "muscle", new for 09. It also reported that Buell is going to be getting rid of 2 undisclosed models. Kinda makes ya wonder, if lack of 09 info if the blast is 1 of em being discontinued.

Hmmm...
That could be the reason as well - they didn't realize there would be a demand for a discontinued bike. A sign HD runs Buell.

Ed, my guess is that they're getting rid of the Blast. The dealers don't want to be bothered with them because they have to cut the profit on them just to unload them. Dealer service hates working on them. The Blast is an albatross as far as they are concerned. Looks like we all may have collectibles on our hands.

I also think HD wants to promote the Sportsters as their new "starter" bikes. More profit for HD and the dealer network and the service depts love them.

Sure - my first service was my last dealer service - tire air pressure was low - 6lbs below min., my peg frame was scuffed, and my shifter spun a block away from the dealership, rode it back, and watched the service manager hop on and scrape the side of the peg hanger with his harness boot as he shifted it to get the bike up to service to tighten the shifter - and the bike was never basically detailed for the smudges and grime the mech. left. Others have similar stories - talk about red headed step child of a red headed step child - and this is the easy bike to work on!

The dealership was Dudley Perkins - a place that sells bikes but constantly looses Buell customers due to their customer service attitude towards Buells.

That could be a lot of fun on an ultra light stiff chassis.

If they kill the Blast, what will they use for Rider's Edge? After seeing some of the hairy stuff that happened during my class, I shudder to think of what could have happened with a heavier, more powerful bike!

I live here in milwaukee. about a week before the big 105th harley bday up here, our local paper did a profile on the new 1125cr for 2009. They also said that they were discontinuing 2 models. Could be the blast is one of em considering the lack of 09 info.

I believe thats true, IndyBuell.

">>>Dealer service hates working on them.
"
Thats certainly the impressions some dealers give. I too got the 1000 mile service done at the dealer. Took them a week and I got the bike back filthy (remember, this was a brand new bike and it was much cleaner when I dropped it off).
I went into the same dealerships other store a couple years later merely to ask "who owned the custom Blast parked outside?". They couldnt get the words out fast enough that they didnt work on Blasts and wouldnt even consider pulling a tech off a Harley to work on them. I never asked them too! Turned out the Blast belonged to a girl who worked in the accessories/clothing dept.

On the flip side I went to Harley Davidson Buell of Glendale, CA to get the same Blast dyno tuned (I'd done a little work to it and we planned on racing it). *They Treated Me Like A King*. Needless to say when I plunked down $18k for a new bike, guess which dealer I went too? (and there are dealers much closer).

I do all my own work, but usually get the 1000 mile service done at the dealer.

Whew! We are talking about all this stuff on the Quick Board!

I personally have never had to take any bike to a dealership for service....Ops, yes I did, it was 1970, the bike was a blue 1970 Honda SL70, and I had Andersons Honda in Bloomfield Hills/Keego Harbor/Pontiac put a larger rear knobbie on it.

I have tried to buy parts for Buells at Shiawassie HD/Buell(No longer Buell) It was a humorous experience, BTW that dealership is in a perfect position to carry Buell today being a multi line store. If it carried Buell, I might even darken the doorways sometime other than to buy Harley parts to use on my Buells. Here is the kicker, the parts I bought at the HD only stores to use on my Buells, I can also get at the old school HD stores and get none of the glitz, lots of atmosphere, all of the parts, and get plenty of genuine intrest in the little one lunger I'm trying to put together.
Wild Boar in Grand Rapids, gives alot of lip work saying "I want to be your parts guy" but if I have to order parts only to come back at a later date there is no reason to be there.
Now just this week I went to Hot Rod HD/Buell and the salesman actually thought Buells were cool, showed me around, offered to call me when the demo 1125R got the transmission update done so I could ride it. The only problem is they are 2 hours away one way and you just have to admit it MICHIGAN SUCKS! because of its very short riding season.
