Performance Mods!: | ~Rerouted crankcase breather lines w/ mini-filter. ~Additional louvered vents on outer airbox + chopped inner airbox ~A few Xopti tuning tricks |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | ~Random "hiccup" at any given steady speed (0 - ~3500 miles on odo.). Fixed by rerouting crankcase vent hoses away from the intake. =D I believe it was sucking oil condensation and non-combustible gases, which was throwing off the A/F ratio. ~Chronic rough engine/surging under 4k rpms. Gotta love that Buell DDFI. =( ~2009: sudden mystery vibration appears around 70mph, suspect tensioner pulley bearing, yet to locate |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | ~Crossroads Performance header heat shield ~LSL footpegs ~Buell frame pucks ~Dark Horse Moto front and rear wheel sliders ~Dynamic Studz License Plate LED bolts (linked to brakes) ~Brake light modulator ~Aprilia Tuono mirrors ~Gel grips ~Skullman timing cover ~Brushed aluminum LED rear signals/running lights w/ custom tint ~TT solo seat ~Buell M2 headlight w/ Puig Raptor windscreen |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | Anywhere around Dahlonega, GA. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | In a sea of Japanese race bikes, I like having a sport bike that's unique. They zip, I roar. The Lightning Long fits me buttocks better than almost any other bike I've sat on (only the 'Busa was better, due to extra seat length). From what I can gather, the XB is one of the easiest bikes to work on, with the least maintenance. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Smooth out the 1203cc low- and mid-range. Mine runs like crap below 4000rpms. I can't be running 60 mph ALL the time! =/ Looks like they addressed all my other complaints with the '08 model (good job guys!)=D Honestly, I wish Buell would develop a bike more suited for cruising. I know they're all about the corners, but I'd really be interested in a bike that was sporty, but more relaxed, without being a cruiser or an "adventure bike". An Ss with a longer frame, less aggressive rake/trail, and a Uly style seat would be perfect! |
Life History/Philosophy: | #1. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If it IS broken, see rule #2. #2. Always put off 'till tomorrow what you could have done today. "Nothing is boring when you're wearing armor."~ Maxim Magazine |
