This has been discussed in the topic "S2 kickstand" http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/47623/829735.html?1528057253 This is not "the bend" This is a smaller plate that piggy backs on the factory plate and fixes the lean angle and the spring holds the kickstand in an extended position. I am ready to get these out to folks in a preorder format, so I am starting a dedicated thread. Number 1 problem with the S2 is the kickstand! a lot of these bikes have fallen right off the kickstand and done a lot of damage to the bike, on a bike that doesn't have a ready supplier of parts.... A few years ago I spent over a year working to re-develop and further modify a side plate design that utilized a "newer" kickstand from 96 and on tube frame bikes, fixing the lean angle and spring loading the kickstand forward when extended. These side plates were very expensive when compared to the market value purchase price of the bike, however, they are hand built low production bikes. I figured there would be an interest in a cheaper fix that still solved the problem as well as the full side plates, however, with a new baby, a military retirement, a move, and getting checked out in a few civilian jets when I returned to civilian flying really took all of the time I had... Ive been working with “Purpony” in the back ground to bring my new idea to reality and I am finally ready to offer it up to folks that want a great fix, that doesnt rob the bank or savings in the process. This design utilizes a piggy back style of plate that replaces the factory lug, using the stock factory plate. I used a very rough broken plate that I got for free to use for the mock up, since it was so badly broken I cut off the back half of the plate to cut down on the size of the box required to ship back and forth during development. This will work fine with a full plate, it does not have to be cut down to a single rider plate.
FOR THE MODIFICATION.... you have to cut off the factory cast lug and cut/grind down on of the cast ribs on the back to make room for a large flat washer. I originally thought about tapping the plate but have decided that its better to drill through and use a flat washer, lock washer, and nut with red locktite… so ignore the threads in the mock up plate... cut off the lug smooth
cut and grind the rib smooth
LEAN ANGLE with original full plate design compared to S1
LEAN ANGLE with piggy back plate compared to S1
These will be supplied with the following: CNC plate kickstand pivot pin kickstand pivot pin retaining clip kickstand spring pin mounting hardware It does not include the kickstand, any late model tube frame kickstand will work EXCEPT the M2 low, that kickstand is one inch shorter, it WILL NOT WORK. this will be done as a pre-order/prepay once the order is complete. pricing is set at a minimum order of 10 units....any less han 10 and the price goes up as the cost includes set up and tooling spread across a 10 or more count. I think I can do this with everything, if the order meets or exceeds 10 for: (I might even be able to include shipping, if not it would only in crease the price by about 15.00 for packaging and shipping). $375.00 (Message edited by Jolly on June 04, 2018) |

Illinoisbart It might actually work, your rear set is a piggyback stack with spacers, using the plate and shorter spacers “could” work.... Terrible/ That’s 2 for you, we need 2 more! That’s only to keep the price as quoted, I’ll still order the run, but there will be a price increase if we can’t get to 10. |

Some folks were asking about how this fits on a full sized plate, so I cut the lug off a full plate so that you could see how it looks. I also wanted to do this by hand with "basic" tools. a hack saw, a few files, and a angle die-grinder with a sanding/grinding disk. I cut the lug and the rib off with the hack saw, then reshaped everything smooth with a few hand files, after proving it could be done with hand tools (meaning no machine shop)… I finished it with an angle die grinder with a few sanding disks. then I bolted the piggy back plate to the side plate with bolts running through the passages for the frame mount bolts, and located and drilled the 3rd hole.
Ill get this mounted to the bike for a true reference some time next week if my schedule doesn't get over run. (Message edited by Jolly on June 16, 2018) |

I’m going to close this out Friday 22 June, at that point I’ll collect funds, when the last person pays I’ll place the order. Remember, you need to source your own kickstand from any tuber, however an M2 low WILL NOT WORK, it’s an inch shorter. And obviously the S2 kickstand won’t work either. If you buy a kickstand that doesn’t have a return spring it’s the same spring from a sportster and a dyna, I bought one for the mock-up in the photos above. |

OK, count me in for a set. Not sure where they will get used yet but with 3 to choose from one of them will need it. Dave made me a set of clipped ones last time, great work. Anybody want to buy an S1W or a '95 S2? Thanks to Marc too! Kevin Meath kmbuell (Message edited by kmbuell on June 18, 2018) |
