Fog,
Read the plugs. They should be light brown or grey. Black=Rich.

has anyone ever put a tach on a buell blast? If so, do you remember how to do it?
Thanks

I have little mini - Thunder electronic tachs on mine - there is a very slight lag - if your using them for serious stuff - Aaron mentioned that with the programable ignition you could run a tach for any twin if you set it to twin mode and set the second hit 180 deg away - second timing cup hole - no problems there - however, you would loose the auto enrichner function and would have to set up a choke or manually keep the bike at a mildly high idle for a few minutes for warm up. - Got Thump?! Just Blasting on the Dark side! EZ

Looks like a cross between an X1, a V-rod, and a Gurney Gator, and an accident waiting to happen. Curved truss members?

I have got an electric tach, and when I hook it up she reads only half of what the actuall engine speed is, unless she red lines at 3200rpm!

If you would fill in your profile info, at least the bike model/year part, we might be able to advise you as to why that is.

My guess is that you bought a tach designed to work with a dual spark ignition but have a bike with a single spark ignition. All DDFI Buells are single spark, and the Blast is single spark, if you fitted a tach designed to work with carbureted Buell twins or Harleys, it will report rpm/2.

Blake, I fitted a Tachometer meant for a X1 on my M2 and it worked just fine.
Did you get your tire?

Hey, I was up in Park Rapids, MN over the week and saw a 9R parked outside an auto parts store. When I came back to find out who it was it was gone. Anyone know who it might have been? I'll look them up next time I'm up there.

Yeah, got the tire, thanks much!

Was it the factory tach? They don't use inductive pickups. I assumed he was talking about an aftermarket inductive type tach. Or maybe I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about. LOL. Wouldn't be the first time.

I think maybe I've got this tachometer business all bass ackwards. I had a carbureted bike and fitted a FI type Tach., not the other way around. So just disregard everything I ever said. I mean, like, you know, really. Or maybe my M2 spun up to 13,600 rpm. What do I know. I mean, really.

So I put a .030 Screaming Eagle pistons, new thunderstorm heads and the engine did not work right. I did every thing to spec but the head, and the cylinder will not seal? Look for easy answers...1996 Buell S2

Do they make a Screaming Eagle piston that' compatible with a Thunderstorm head? i.e. 15 degree dome?

Hoser,
About 1" slack on the bottom run. Too little slack and the suspension won't work properly and it's hard on the isolators.

OK that's a start , ....... but is the slack to be measured unladen , or with rider seated ?. Many of the race Buells I have looked at and photographed have quite a lot of droop in the chain when at rest in the pit , propped up on a stand . Also the chain lays on the top of the swingarm mounting block when the bike is unladen , it is currently fitted with a 23/48 sprocket combination , I'm thinkin a 24 or 25 would be more appropriate front ,and would need to be mated to a larger rear. We ( the owner and I )have discussed gearing selection and having a variety of choices on hand , this coming weekend the bike will be raced in Edmonton , which has a very nice new track , short and technical , well suited to a Buell. Our goal is to learn , evaluate and make adjustments , more or less work on development , not arrive with the intent to win.
