Performance Mods!: | After I installed a TBR Ti muffler I had the ECM remaped. It runs just a little bit rich but Dyno's out at 109 H.P. @ 9,400 rpm, with 66.5 lb/ft of torque @ 5,200. That's good enough for me. 08/15/03 I had the California Emissions stuff removed at the 12,000 mile service. 111 hp, 67.5 lb/ft of torque. |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | 1/29/03. I turned over 6,000 miles with no problems. Knock on wood. By the 6K mark, my Buell had a new set of rocker box gaskets, and a new rear shock. 4/30/03. I just turned 10,000 miles and the bike hasn't been in the back of a pickup truck yet. The front brake lever is getting pretty close to the handle bar. I don't know if the pads are worn or if I need to bleed the hoses. 07/2003 The Speedometer died and was repaired under warrentee. 08/06/03 At the 12,000 mile service I had the brakes blead and they arn't spungy anymore. |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | I've added Heated Hand grips and ACC plug so I can use some Gerbings heated clothing. Warm is good. The grips are attached to a pair of taller handlebars from the Triumph Sprint ST touring bike. I've added an outrageously expencive inner fender with real carbon fiber print (that's different than actually being carbon fiber, mind you). I've got a set of Tour Master soft bags that just barely miss the TBR muffler and don't scratch the paint too badly. A wider, taller Zero Gravity Windscreen was added. A pair of mirrors from a BMW R1100GS replaced the stock units so that I could see behind me. A set of Metezler Sportec M1 tires replaced the stock BS BT 020's at 12,000 miles, these were replaced 8K later with Pirelli Diablos. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | 180 miles around Mt. Rainier |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | Neither my son nor I ride a Y2K M2 because we crashed the darn things on July 7th, 2002 somewhere on the backside of Mt. St. Helen. Bummer, Dude. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?:
Life History/Philosophy: | If you are displeased with what you bought, shake it off and find something that *IS* fun. Your clock on the mothership is ticking and you are charged equally for the days you have fun and the days you n' moan. |
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): | 143 mph indicated. I'm guessing that's about 73.5 actually. |
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade):
What I Miss Most About My Buell: | I was out riding the other day and realized that it’s been months since I set off anybodies car alarm. I miss doing that. |
