Mataleao your bike looks sweet. It looks like you painted the bottom of the stock exhaust? If so how does the paint hold up to the heat? And did you paint your rims, or have them powdercoated?

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

EZ, I'll get you a pic soon.

Sycho, It's high temp spray paint rated to 2000 F--so its holding up fine. Rims, swing arm, and frame were spray painted with engine enamel. Powder coating was the plan but they had atleast a 2 week turn around time (maybe this winter)

Rhedtree, mirrors are Kosos.

Very nice, clean. Love the black wheels. I agree w/ EZ. We need to see the fairing from the front. I don't ever remember seeing the stock exhaust painted like that. Nice touch. Subtle.

Here's mine since adding superbike bars, traction grips, napoleon bar ends (only one at the moment), pulling the rear hugger, and blacking out the headlight bezel.

Can you read the decal on the swing arm?

Any problems with your knee hitting the air intake?

I was thinking that - but if you could keep your knee from the middle part - it could work out - what would the K&N part number be?

Cafe seat prototype:

Stock foam removed. Seat refilled and shaped with spray foam inusulation. Covered with 5 dollar vinyl. Seat area "cushioned" with a cut up yoga mat.

Covering the seat was a lot more difficult than anticipated. Hopefully my next one will look more professional. But overall--I'm pretty happy with the results.

The seat is comfortable despite how it looks. I like how I feel part of the bike now--instead of just sitting on top.

I got tired of the plain old black Buell Pro air intake and decided to make a $4 upgrade. . . BTW, does anyone know if the bracket holding everything up and keeping pressure off of das boot was part of the Buell Pro air filter (I am trying to determine if the previous owner fabricated it since I don't see many similar brackets).

Sorry for the grainy pics - they're from the Blackberry. . .

lol - no thats not a bracket that came with it. The super boot would be a better deal - those strap type brackets don't work.

I like the super boot! I don't know that I would refer to this as a strap really though - it's 1/8" steel twisted to bolt to the engine and then welded to a flange that is bolted between the elbow and carb and has been pretty damn solid for the last 18 months of commuting.

Still, I would like to replace it with a super boot. . . As always, thanks for the answer (and prompt response) EZ.

The scooter belongs to my son. It's a Yamaha Vino 125. He also has a Yamaha Vino 50 that I got him when he was 14. It definitely paid for itself because he put 5000 or more miles on it just going to and from friends' houses around our neighborhood and adjacent neighborhoods. When he got a job he wanted a better scooter and got the 125. When it got cold he bought a used Honda Element and went back to the scooter after hitting a deer with the car. It was in repairs for a long time - almost totaled. He hit the carport wall with the Vino 125 after sliding on leaves, and now the front and headlight cover are cracked. It was used when we bought it and has a custom paint job, so now when parts are replaced, we have to get it painted. BTW, the headlight cover will cost $250, which is crazy!

I will post a cute picture of his Vino 50, taken in our neighborhood one day when we stopped to pet a friendly cat.

Hey Everyone! I just recently purchased a 01 Buell Blast for $600. It had a oil leak at the cylinder base and the front sprocket oil seal. Well its been 2 months and $400 and It is almost done. While it was apart I found that the piston was badly scored from the previous owner running the bike too lean. So I installed a new piston kit along with new gaskets and seals. Also I decided to do some appearance work since I couldn't ride it while it was apart. I painted all the plastics, power coated the foot peg brackets and controls, and painted the wheels and brake calipers. It looks great and Im almost done putting it back together! Let me know what you think!
After a little washing

What she looked like before I started reassembly!

This is what the piston looked like, lucky for me the cylinder was not harmed!

My pile of parts!

The powder coated peg brackets and the carbon fiber sticker covering the frame.

Roughly put together, most of it is just hanging there. I just wanted to see what she would look like when she was finished!

The other side!
