Finally finished my new seat project:
Seat view one

2nd view

I started with a low seat, cut the foam in half, and just used the front half. I increased the height with new foam and vinyl. All the yellow is a fiberglass piece I made and painted to match the bike. When my wife wants to ride I just snap in my old tall seat, and I've got a two-seater again. Alot of work, but I like it.

Ylwblast,
What handlebars are on that bad boy? Cool seat idea. I like the one-seater/two-seater switch-a-roo deal.

Fast1075,
Are those wheels painted or powder coated? They look sweet.

Those are superbike bars. I put them on a few months ago. They're definitely a huge improvement over stock.

Bar-End Mirrors from local Bicycle shop (cheap, I payed $14.00 for mine) helps allot also.

Is it just an illusion or is that a super huge XB rear sprocket?
Nice!
I guess thats one way to mount/hide the shock and my guess is it will be confused with an XB too!

That bike looks like a failed abortion that lived but the engineering involved fascinates me! Really, the only thing that looks horrible is the seat setup but the rest is great. I never thought you could put an XB suspension on a blast frame. I'd have rather gone your route, Ed, and put a P3 engine in an XB chassis but the fact that this person did it is awesome! I wanna see pics of how that rear suspension was attached.

The swingarm bolts right to the Blast engine and my guess is the seat height is to cover the shock mounting.
It appears he's still using the Blast front sprocket, but I really (and I'm sure so would others!) like to know where he got the huge rear sprocket.
FI imho isnt that hard. You just need a twin set-up and dummy up the missing cylinder.
Nothing is really that complicated taken one mod at a time, but you've got to put it all together and be willing to spend the money, the time and cut your Blast up (and it all sounds simple and I've oversimplified it, but I'm sure there were glitches that came up and I dont want to diminish this accomplishment).
And I really really like that they kept the belt drive instead of going the usual route and converting to chain!

FWIW: XB wheels are much lighter than Blast wheels!

That above link will take you to another Buell site that shows the whole project. Yes a lot of effort went into the making of that bike, the thing that really had me thinking is that a Blast/Works shock would fill the bill for the XB swing-arm with no modifications.

What i meant by heavier is the swing arm and wheels on the blast frame. I didn't know the XB wheels were lighter though, thats pretty cool.

Facinating!

It looks like the stock Blast front sprocket is being used as the belt is hanging over the sprocket.

I would also like to see how the front caliper is mounted to the fork tube.

I just want to look....thats all, I promise...

I'm like..."I'm not a doctor, but can I have a look?"

Last night at the Home Depot....Pretty Young Thing in the paint isle asks "can I help you find something?"
Me with the smirk and big pause...."I've been looking for love in all the wrong places, I haven't found it yet, can you help me?"

You see, I am getting old enough to get away with stupid stuff like that now.

But I want to see some XBlast pictures again...

I would LOVE to put the rear suspension from an XB on the Blast. I would remount the upper shock tab if needed but would modify the seat pan to compensate for it without raising the seat like that guy did on his. I have plenty of room on the seat in front of me when I sit on the Blast so it wouldn't effect anything. Have a new front sprocket machined to fit the belt better. I would do the front tire and brake too. I think it looks so cool and the performance gains would be a plus too. I would keep the carb and oil tank as they are currently. Would make everything so simple it would almost be a weekend project.

The longer I stare at the pics of this bike, the more my wallet hurts! I want to see this thing run, I want it to run circles around XB's in the corners, and I want to send a picture of it, with a rider majestically hanging off mid turn, to Mr. Buell. The caption reading something like "Not much of a sport bike huh?" I guess I'm still a little bitter...

FWIW: If you look through the racing section we have pics there of TuberBlasts, XBlasts and XB/Tuber/Blast hybrids and you may even find a rider or two hanging off in mid turn!
And at the last race weekend we had 4x as many 'Blasts' racing as twin Buells (if you hadnt seen me post this yet!).
Think how bitter these guys were!
