Don't forget the auto carb springs - one side flat the other circular - one on each side of the carb anchored to the carb, other side anchored to the heads lower corner facing each of your knees - lol - the loops to the carb side and the flats to the head - looping through a hole drilled in the head fin and twisted close - snug enough to hold carb in boot on both sides. Loops - one side goes on the Vacuum line side and the other loops over the secondary pump mounting top. Enjoy!

No to the 1st question - though you will have to take the tank off, any auto parts store carries the springs - they are for synching a carb -

Its the old colored stock filter, the one in use now is white.

You can see in the first pic the spring on the other side almost perfectly parallel going from the carb vacuum line to the head on the opposite side.

Very nice indeed. I'm amazed that so much work and detail goes into some of the components (note the hidden front brake caliper & old style carb) yet uses stock controls (especially the stock rear brake pedal and master). The use of stock components is only a minor detraction.

PS Welcome Gbaz!

I just got my 3rd bike, a 2003 Blast with 976 miles on it. Does anyone know where I can get a used service manual (not owners manual), or download a service manual, without paying an arm and a leg through the dealer? No major service has ever been done. I (or rather my husband) need the service manual to do the 1000 mile service

Welcome to the Badweb Nachomama!

Look on EBAY for service manuals. Also look in the Thumper classifieds and on the main board classifieds.

Most of the service stuff you need to do to the Blast is detailed right here in the Thumper Forum though.

Thanks for the welcome. Just got my blast 2 weeks ago, and still need to have the title changed... So instead or riding decided to start adding some hop up parts. Changing out the exhaust, air filter (and box mod) and rejeting it. Think that will get the bike to 40hp? Any other easy mods that should be done?
Thanks!!

it will get you to 32 if you use max equipment - 30 otherwise - 26 stock.

What do you mean by max equipment? 32 at the rear wheel would be good, i ment 40 at the engine. stock is 34 at the engine (per buell), i dont have access to a dyno so will never really know... Before i started messin around with my Vstar it was rated at 50hp and weighed 600 lbs dry...

Max would be a stack type intake and a totally freeflo type exhaust - custom combination type thing or hunt down a force or do a simple custom such as the LSR that I gave specs for.

gona use a Jardine system, and if its too loud pop in the quite core. havent found a stack for the blast, so was gona use a K&N in the stock air box with the mod u describe in the Vault. So maybe 30hp, still not bad, and dont need to worry about ringing ears and supporting the carb. cant wait to actually get this thing on the street.

thanks

What (I think) EZ means is that you need maximum efficient mods. Any of the aftermarket Blast exhausts are an improvement over stock. Some have greater potential and (in your case) combining it with the right intake and carb tuning you'll get max power (dont forget timing too).
What and how you tune should also depend on what you're using the bike for. Consistent 2 up riding may benefit from different mods and tuning for example.
Just getting the carb tuned in right can be good for an extra 1-3hp. That may be easier said than done however and it can decrease mpg by more than your willing to 'spend'.

I ment where to get it. Cant seem to find it.

Got the paperwork finished on it and rode it around today. It is a fun bike : ) Pegs are a little cramped for me, need to try adjusting the shifter and rear breaks. And it turns out the seat needs to be replaced unless i can figure out how to fix the plastic deal that holds down the front of it... Anyone know where i can find a cheap tall seat or how to replace the plastic thing?

Thanks!!

Are there any foot pegs that replace the ugly stock ones on the bike that work with no modifications?

Gbaz: If the tab is still in place it can be reinforced with a piece of steel.
If its gone it can be replaced with a piece of steel.
Either can be attached with sheet metal screws (not too long of course!).
'Cheap' tall seats are hard to come by, but at $100 new, thats pretty cheap!

The new seats are much stiffer - better material and look like they may take a long ride better - I'll find out - a new one on the newly Black bike - lol - a definite upgrade from a 2001 seat.

I just finished upgrading my Blast to LEDs. Instead of just sticking in replacement bulbs, I had to go all out and make it programmable. When I hit the brake, my rear turn signals flash several times really quickly. When my turn signal is on, half of the brake light blinks out of phase with the signals. The turn signals are always on dim. I'll have pictures after I finish putting it back together.
