"Could it be the EBR needed an aggressive rider who could push the bike to the engineering limits set up by a genius"

I think yes!

Maybe EBR also needed a team that knows how to set the bike up properly, as well.

And perhaps they did glean some useful information from those mostly miserable finishes last season, which they put to use between the end of last season and now.

EBR was out there testing two 2 different bikes. One with ZTL and underslung exhaust, and one with all conventional items. Getting race set ups that work equally well takes time.

If I'm EBR given last year, I concentrate my efforts around the race set up and let the second or so QTs buy me take care of itself.

The times put the EBRs mid pack. The front is still a ways out. It's all very promising though.

What would be the reason, the final setup is shown with a wet tire? I'm sure it's probably meaningless.

http://www.crash.net/wsbk/news/213272/1/canepa-i-e xpected-gap-to-ebr-to-be-bigger.html

“Although I rode a twin last year, the characteristics of the Hero EBR are very different, so I have to adjust my style. And I really like what the EBR can do as I learn it. At the moment, I am confident that I will be faster than I was last year."~ Canepa

Ain't that truth! Riding the Panigale is like riding an I4 with a great stereo. All the power is in the top 3rd of the rev range. The EBR seems to be able to pull from just about anywhere. The EBR handles more like a really light R6 than a big Vtwin. I love that there's a quick rider out there who can articulate that. Even though what we say is true, being slow erodes one's credibility.

Furthermore, Canepa had expected the 2.4secs gap to the leaders – who were well below the lap record – would be larger given teams had previously tested in Spain.

Qualifying tires should allow him to get down close to 1:41 flat. Which is amazing for a bike only sporting 210Hp against bikes with as much as 240 and 3K higher RPM ceilings. Its interesting that Aprilia, Kawi, Ducati and BMW are all re homologating for the 2015. Got to get those up spec parts approved. LOL. I am so ready for the season to start!

I really think Johnn Rea will be the man on the move for 2015.

There are 2-3 action clips , is there the sound of the EBR ?? There is definately a 2cylinder sound and the bike that follows Rea has a side exhaust..so definately Not a Duc... so is it the EBR ?? Sounds great by the way whatever it is !

YES ..it is NICK following Rea....go to 2.20....

It looks GOOD... Looks like the EBR is more stable than the Kawasaki at changing of direction ..and the corner entry and speed looks good

FYI - SlingTV is a Internet based TV service created by Dish Network. https://www.sling.com

beIN is one of the stations offered in the $25 Package.

Membership follows the NetFlix (cancel anytime) model and they currently have a 7 day free trial period. Might want to sign up for the free trial during the upcoming Phillip Island race period.

Well after session two, Canepa is holding steady at 1.7 seconds off the track record setting lead, and Pegram is already lapping at the same pace as May and Yates best from last year. I like the way the battle for 10-15th is shaping up. Doesn't look like the EBR's will be bringing up the rear this year as there are about five riders chasing Pegram. Johnny Rea is already raising some sand. I can hardly wait for the this weekend!!!

From the posted photos in Facebook , it looks like the 2-disc system was used in Day1 of the test ... both Nick and Larry...

Also the Arrow exhaust was used ......

I wonder if today's test will be with the ISO brakes? Seems like a good way to get a baseline on both systems, then go with what works best for this track. Not every race weekend will have a two day test the weekend before, so why not take advantage? Nick seems to be slightly slower than he was on the Duck, but the 1190 looks to be slightly faster than it was last year. It will be interesting to see how this works out...

I agree with you, Fuzzz.....I would like the ISO brakes to be tested on day2 , but the team must have realised that for this high speed track the 2-disc system is the way to go and they started the test with it.... we shall see in a few hours...

I wonder why EBR cannot make the underslung exhaust reach the required Db levels... Ducati uses an underslung exhaust

In many sites, there were positive comments about the performance of the EBR, and the fact that it finished day1 faster than Baiocco's DUcati and Berger's BMW.... They praised Canepa...

So far Nick is our true Hero ..he is making a great job
