Where have all the lady Blasters gone? I am a relatively new rider and after taking the motorcycle safety class, I went from thinking about a scooter to wanting a real bike! Believe me, the guys in the class did NOT let me live that one down! The owner of a local shop (Thanks Steve at Moto-Authority in Albuquerque) hooked me up with an '09 Blast with only 106 mi on it and I am officially in love!! So where are the rest of you lady Blasters?? |

I am in the process of designing some decals to dress up the trim, tail plate and fender. I found a local sign maker who can do them custom and for not that much money. Good way to make the bike look nice but have the option to change without paying high dollar to a painter! Will post new pics when the project is complete. Welcome to the addiction Saturn66, if you love it now, wait a few months. I have been on the MIA list for years thanks to the Blast. If they catch me off the bike then I have to do chores, parties, answer my phone, read my email... We are out there, just under the radar having fun. Hi to my fellow Floridian Lisa Happy Trails |

Welcome Happycrna! One of my favorite journeys was doing the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky, you live in a beautiful part of the country. We ride into the Ocala horse farmland as often as we can. If I didn't love riding motorcycles so much I would live on a farm and have a barn full horses. Enjoy the ride |

I haven't hit the Bourbon Trail yet...I've gone from Paducah to Owensboro (only about 100mi or so) and loved it so I'm really itching to load it up and hit the roads. Do you have any input on saddlebags? I would like to find something double the size of the Blast saddlebags! |

I went through a couple sets of the Buell bags, one purchased that faded so quickly I complained about it and they replaced gratis. That was nice, but they still did not have the quality I thought they should. I then found the Cortech Sport Saddlebags http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?produc tid=149 and trunk http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?produc tid=148 Trunk is easy, just sits on the passenger seat and using the built in bungee cords, hook two rear cords on plastic lip on either side of tail behind the blinkers. Two front cords hook to frame at the passenger pegs. It is on and off in seconds and holds quite a bit. Also can be unzipped and extended if need be. The saddlebags are a bit harder to mount. My better half fixed mounted them using a sheet of polycarb cut to match the shape and size of the bag. Drilled four holes. Two mount just the bottom of the bag to the polycarb. The top two go through the bag and mount to the bungee cord mounts under the tail. This also required cutting some of the plastic on the tail to make clearance for the bolts. It is not perfect. In fact my left bag has sagged some in recent months and will require some modifications soon. They also zip out for more room, but would never do this while riding, it's great for when parked and wanna put some stow gear in there. I caution not to overload, less is more, just my opinion. I wish I could be more helpful there but it took a bit of ingenuity to accomplish, that being from the husbands end. They are top loading (nice) have rain covers and hold just enough. There are some pics on my old web page, see profile for link. I am considering Pelican hardbags, my husband is entertaining possible ways to mount them. Not pretty, but plastic, waterproof, light and hard working. Bottom line is look around, check out bike shops and see what they have and how you may be able to mount in a way you are happy with. What works for one, may not for another. Also keep in mind, my bike is set up for ME and I am more function minded for my travels, so the bike may not be what a lot of Blastards view as "cool" but again, it works for me. Hope this helps a little. Most important thing is that you are out there having fun. Happy Trails |

Thanks Maggie! I'm soooo NOT concerned with what's cool these days! I'm way too old and this is my second time around as a rider. I was cool back in the day - nowadays I just want to travel and ride. I'd like saddlebags that can accommodate gear and overnight travel items, so I'm happy to have your input! I'll check into the Cortech as well as look at the Pelican systems too: I'd love to have nice hard detachable bike luggage! See ya on the road, L |
