Do a search for superbike bars - they come in Black or chrome - great price - they are ultra comfey and about 3" lower- simular to the Lightning bars at a tenth the price - lol - don't forget to get new grips!

There great an long rides. Handlebars are like adjusting the seat in your car though, one bend is not comfterable for everyone. I've had some bikemaster "daytona" bars (name of the bend), and I hated them. They made my wrists hurt. The Superbike bars tend to be comfy for most though.

3" lower sounds right. I'll measure them later and report back.

Hello All,
I am new to the website. I bought a 2001 Blast with 3700 miles. The first change I did was to remove the Larger Buell windshield and change the stock bars to superbike. Pics to follow.

Mine are homemade (by previous owner). The overall design is similar to the Crossroads bars, but they're narrower, and swept back at more of an angle.

The oil cap is a little hard to get to, and the left side is a bit flimsy because of the cutout for the ignition switch.

notice the position of the brake reservoir, compared to the crossroads bars above.

Anything lower than superbike bars will probably pose a tank clearance problem. So try to avoid spending a lot of money on bars that aren't returnable.
Clip-ons and adjustable Tomasselli (or Laverda) clubmans seem to give better tank clearance.
The Crossroads bars, though expensive, may give the look you want (and will definitely clear).
There are many fans of the 'Cafe' look here and we've tried a bunch of stuff out.Its probably here somewhere.

EZ maybe we can delete the new 'clubman' thread?

Mine are the adjustable "laverda" style Gear mentioned... See my profile.

They have 4 pivot points and can be rotated, and pivoted into just about any angle/configuration imaginable. I got them from "Buster's". Google "busters UK motorcycle accessories" and you should find them in the handlebar section. If you buy them, they do contact the tank, to you can't quite turn the handlebar full lock anymore (unless you add bar risers or grind down the "knuckles" on the bars.) If you want to know more about them, let me know. They are also pretty wide, and I cut 2 inches off each bar-end.

Naustin you forgot there are 2 positions that clear the tank without the necessary grinding!

Just set them so they match the tank profile,up or down. Of course thats only 2 out of 360 possibilities! (not counting the 4 joint adjustments)

Oh, you mean rotate the bar so the wider aspect of the knuckle is parallel to the tank rather than perpendicular to it - minimizing its profile in relation to the tank. I didn't think that would be enough to keep it from touching.... And anyway, the rotation is how I fine tune the angles... ;) I really don't mind having slightly less than full lock. Except that I can't lock my bars.

Those bar risers I have solve the problem too, but while they do wonders for the ergo's, I didn't like how they looked, so now then live in a box on my work bench.

You can lock the steering, but you cant get full lock (stop to stop).
Did you cut the ends off the joints yet to clear?

No. I'm lazy... I trimmed the right side on the top joint to clear my brake reservoir though. ;)

I'm going to have to pull the bars off and lock-tit the joints though pretty soon. The one covered by the aforementioned brake reservoir (the only one I can't easily get at) is starting to loosen-up. So, maybe I'll do it then.

Well, the stock 'baby apes' really (really) make the bike feel small, scooterish and toylike. Its quite amazing what a set of bars can do to the feel of the bike.
Now add a Corbin seat and it'll feel like a big bike (in a good way)!

You can use extra handlebar clamp tops as risers and Naustin and somebody (I cant remember who) bought and used risers.
Try emailing Naustin.
They are out there but I didnt save the searches where I found them.

Risers were purchased from Twisted Throttle. Google it.

Or, I'll sell you my set, including the hardware... They weren't on the bike when I traded it in...
