The beautiful bike we saw above is a far cry from their first shot at a Blast http://www.redneckenginuity.com/carys_blast.htm

I wonder how it handles compared to the stock blast, and if they can set it up to accept a different shock without too much effort. that frame (assuming it has a lower weight) 17 inch rims and a shock u can adjust and i would be happy : )
probably cost too much though : (

O 1 more thing i like what they did with the foot controls also. still a standard position maybe a little lower than stock. I may have to look into making a set for my self, i wanted rear sets just for the extra leg room. would rather have up right seating position... and they dont look toooo hard to make

"i wanted rear sets just for the extra leg room"
I've heard that many times, still dont see how thats possible (unless you lower the pegs to dragging height-yes I have/had both)! Forward sets are just as easy to make!
I like the old Redneck bike better.

Yuppers - plus a 4" long by 2" extension, and then a 4" Suppertrap with all 12 discs - awesome sound and response through the rpm range - and so quiet compared to any other performance exhaust for a Blast out there. I had to create the mounting, however, my experience with a lot of different Blast exhausts paid off there and so far so good with over 3000 miles on it - I'll never be able to thank Terry enough for that puppy, except to tell him that if he could make more of them, he could probably sell them and the Supertraps and easy mounting to go with them - the system is awesome - I wish I had a second one for my other bike, but I guess I'll have to make do with my Force exhaust on the other - lol

For those, like me, who are looking to find a Blast, check out this Lycos search. It shows Blasts (and other bikes) for sale all over the country from different sources : )

Hope it can help someone

Found another bike that I am hoping to run by you all.

2003, 1,500 miles, asking $2,500.

Second owner - said he bought the bike with 7 miles on it and got service done on it as it had been sitting for about 3 years.... He said battery was replaced and fluids were changed at the 7 mile mark. He said he did the 1,000 mile service himself and changed all the fluids. Says no damage, tires are good, and title is clean (however registered and titled out of state).

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!!!

Unfortunately for me, I've looked all across the country and this is the going price for this age/miles. I don't want to potentially lose the chance to buy. Either way I'm checking it out tomorrow or this weekend.

Scotts 2003 has been through hell - 3 times over and just keeps on going, other 2003 and later bikes - the majority of Blasts do just that - with no drops - it sounds like a fair to good deal. If you wait long enough you may or may not find a beater for less, but Blasts generally hold their used price fairly well - which is 2000 to 3000 - 3500 for year to two years old - so it becomes up to you in the end on that respect.

For reference, here's my Blast and how much I paid:

2002 Yellow, 1600 miles, never dropped, excellent condition, $1750.

The only thing "wrong" with mine was some scratches on the top of the tank from a tank bag (same on the top of the tail) and a leaky pcv valve hose (easy fix, $2 of hose).

I don't know if this is an unusually good deal or if it was just a winter price or what...but I'm not going to complain! ; ) I thought it was a good deal, comparing to other prices I've seen.

Nice deal, Jason : ) How much do new rear tires run?

Thanks Ezblast - I think I'm going to go for it. I don't think I can get him down to Jason's price, but maybe I can get at least $200 off for the registration.... We'll see. Most likely it looks like I'll have a bike this weekend ;)

Felicita: Go ahead and grab it. I bought my 2003 with 900 Riders Edge miles, scrapes and scratches from two years worth of students and it 5,000 miles later it's running great. You'll love it. If not, I'll buy it from you for $1,000 ...... Hey, it's a tough economy out there.

Well I finally did it. This past Saturday I got my Blast. Was intending to get a used 2005 model for $2100 but it turned out to be pretty ugly. It had obviously been dropped more than once. Had major scratches on both sides in the plastic and the frame and the foot pegs.

The wife saw all that and her response was, "how much is a new one?" ... so long story short I'm now the proud owner of a brand new, Midnight Black, 2008 Buell Blast!

So far I have put about 15 miles on it and have been having a "blast". : D

Next week I'm going to start commuting to and from work on it. Gonna save me a ton in gas $$$.
