For those that missed it...

The riding;

The rain let up around 1 or so on Saturday. We were on the road shortly there after. We headed to 64 again, this time we took it all the way to 411, then across 2 and 52 into Dalonage. We found dry roads and a smidge of sunshine until we got back to Dalonaga. We stopped at the Rider's Hill shop. From there we trekked over to Blood moutain to get reqainted with the fog. Got back to TWO before the rain. Logged about 190 miles.

The Wood Shack get together;

We had a buffet of steak, sausage, ham, potatoes, salad and various flavors or alcohol. Good times under the wood shack while the rain and wind moved in!! Rumor has it Smoke slapped his sausage on Charlie's forehead... LOL

Party at Charlies;

We all gathered in the trailer at TWO that the 3%ers rented for the AMA Fontana rerun.

Sunday;

Awoke to cool weather, cloudy skies and DRYING roads!!! Did the loop twice before packing up and heading home.

It was definately worth the trip. No crashes, good friends and a day and a half of decent weather.

I have been to many Harley Dealer events/parties that were held rain or shine. It's too bad SMHD decided to cancel a Buell event/party... It would have been nice to see them support the local (and not so local) Bullers that toughed out the bad weather. I hope we haven't lost one of the few good Buell dealers.

I was agonizing having to miss it. But I have to admit, another 5 days and 2300 miles of riding in 40-50 degree rain (like it did last year) just doesn't appeal to me so much. Hopefully October will be better.

I rolled into home about 30 minutes ago. Man, NOT the best MB ever.

Left here 6:30 AM Friday morning for the trip up, hit rain about an hour and a half into my ride just east of Augusta, GA. Rain let up a little when I was going through Athens, GA (missed a turn #$%^ there) but came back in force north/west of Athens. Found out the hard way that my used Aerostich is overdue for re-waterproofing. I got to C3 Central about 3 PM Friday and was pretty soaked. Got dried out and rode back up to TWO for supper. Chilled out at the house Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon went to Dahlonega and got some supplies; got back in time to miss the 2nd wave of rain. Watched the race Saturday night. This morning I left about 10:30 AM; stopped at TWO, then headed up 180, came back 129 to Turner's Corner and on to the Rock Pile on 60. Saw a wrecked car (Nissan 240) on 129 on the south side of Blood Mountain; cop was already there. Saw what looked like a bad bicycle wreck at the Rock Pile. 20 bicyclists were standing around and an ambulance was there. Hung a left at the Rock Pile and headed home. Had a COLD ride from Dahlonega south/east. Finally warmed up about the time I hit I-20 at ~2 PM. The sun came out shortly afterwards; had a nice ride from there home.

Glad I got to see a few of you. For those of you that missed it, you picked a good year to miss it.

i had a good time. even if it was just a weekend trip, for some drab weather.

good to meet some of you and put names to faces. remembering the roads from last october was awesome.
despite the slower pace it was still a good time. and i didn't see/hear of anyone wipe out.

i'm gonna do a bonsai run this summer. bueltoberfest is too far away, but GA is not too far away from VA

We had a great ride Saturday afternoon. For all ya'll who missed it, no worries, March comes every year. But only a select few will have memories from MBVI, I'm glad I'm one of em!!!

Figures...as soon as I leave the rain stops and everyone goes riding. Dagnabit!

My wife did manage to finish her first full marathon Sunday morning, so I can't say it was a total waste for me to come home and miss the decent weather.

Glad y'all who came from long distances got to have some fun on the roads. I'm already looking forward to BTF!

Barker,

Who was that agonizingly slow Florida rider you were following?? LOL I am way more tentative on the downhill, than I am on the up hill.

Cool vid!! Self critique says I need to quit hugging the double yellow line !!! LOL

After six hours of riding in the rain on Friday morning I was tired and wet when I pulled up at TWO. Meeting new BWB folks and seeing others I had met at Buelltoberfest was great. Squeezed in a couple hours of dry riding early Saturday morning before the rain started. Spent the next 3 hrs watching lousy weather forecasts predicting more of the same. ENOUGH!! When the rain stopped for a bit, 9 eager-to-ride junkies took to the roads as described above. Thanks again to Paint, Smoke, and Rdglider_Joe for leading the charge on Saturday's ride. A GREAT time! Special hey to everyone else on the ride as well. Almost 200 miles without rain (ok-a little fog and possibly a speck of sleet near the end). I got in another 75 miles on Sunday morning (dry but cool) before slab'n back home.

Glad everyone got home safe. I hope to see ya'll next time. BadWeatherBikers indeed!

I made it down to Deals Gap, was about to go down to Suches when I saw the post here from Rita at Stone Mountain that the event was canceled, for "safety reasons".

What the heck was that all about?

The weather was no worse than it has been at every other MB I have been at, starting at MB lll.

Anyway, we stayed up at the Gap. We were very disappointed that we had driven a thousand miles, taken time off work to go to an event that was canceled at the last minute, for what seemed to me at least, no good reason.

I was really looking forward to seeing "the gang". I don't know how many more of these events I can get to: not getting any younger.

I am sure lots of guys feel the same.

Got in a couple of good rides, especially Monday, and some wet ones.

Spent a lot of time explaining to my buddy that Buell riders are not wusses.

Here is my latest invention: "The Deals Gap Boot Dryer"
