I have an 00 M2 that I bought 3rd hand. Somewhere along the line someone did a kind of crappy paint job on it and I have half a mind to do something drastic to "fix it". Or, put another way, have you seen a color combination that you that looked great, but you didn't have the balls to try? | ||

Go for it! But do not tell guys it is plum and chartreuse, tell them it is light green and dark red. Guys do not know, understand, or comprehend what "chartreuse" is......at least I did not know until I followed your link to the colors!  | ||

Just an idea after looking at your color samples... My opinion is I could see maybe with a matte pearl top coat on the plum, so that it's not such a complete opposite color to the green. That sort of color combo calls for a lot of personality, or attitude perhaps. If you can credibly pull it off go for it. Kind of a "Look at Me!!!" color combo though, I suggest not wearing pink socks when you ride to a party with your short pants on. -Bug | ||

I just had a 1970 Triumph 100C (500cc high-pipe model)painted with a current MoPar color called Plum Crazy. Plum Crazy is used on the new Challenger and I really like it. | ||

OMG @Dave_02: That is plum crazy! So. This poorly painted M2 is my 1st M2. I just bought another that is almost bare stock. So I'm tempted to just sell the poorly painted one, but part of me wants to have a crazy ass bike. BTW: I call it poorly painted because there are drips and bubbles in the paint and has a kind of nasty skull and cross bones decal on the back. Thanks for your feed back. | ||

Sounds like a fun fun project on a second bike, maybe browse the old school and M2 archives for different options on trimming the fat factory tail while you're at it? While not as loud, plum would look great with black, silver or perhaps even olive drab frame and wheels. There is an XB that was done in a dark plum, black cherry sort of color that turned out beautiful. Tastefully done many color combos can work out great, even if they sound bad on paper, or online... Ouch. That's a painful combo. I'm all for doing some interesting colors. Those just clash is a sort of nauseating way. I'm embarrassed to say, tucked away in my shed for the winter, next to my M2, I have the bike that I bought a few years ago that got me back into riding. It's a Kaw 100 enduro in that shocking Kaw chartreuse, and it has a friggin' purple seat. Now, I'm 6'3", 260 lb former bar bouncer, and I'd look like a fool on this thing, obviously, even if it were black. That color combo is just hideous. This little Kaw was so fruity looking, it was an easy sell to my wife, "just for nostalgia's sake, to putter around on". Three years later, with a 550 in between, and I'm all Buell. But back to your scheme. That color combo just sounds kind of gut-wrenching. Can you change one of the colors? Trouble is, is that chartreuse is hard to get to go with anything. How about a dark grey? Or another darker green? FWIW Dave | ||

I don't have a bike in those colors. What I have is a bike that I'm considering doing some over the top custom work to. The bike I'm thinking of doing this too is the orange bike in this post. Like I say. Might do something outrageous. Might just sell it too. | ||

Oh, but you got the colors backwards, frame was supposed to be chartreuse and the body work plum. Green wheels definitely scream "Look at MEEeeee!!!!" just ask Kawasaki. | ||

I can't believe I got the colors backwards. I think all the masks are still in place in the Photoshop file, so theoretically it should be pretty easy to switch the colors. I'll try it when I get some free time. Might be a day or so. The wheels, too? That looks like a complicated masking job, but I'll try to work on it. It would be cool to be able to easily change any color on any of the major components. Add a chin spoiler? Fuggedaboutit. Maybe if someone pays me. Dave | ||

So, I've just been living with this idea. And while DB got the colors turned around, I kind of like it better than what I was originally thinking. So, the green on the body parts, the purple on the frame, lower fork and wheels and replace the vinyl on the seat to match the frame? Seat might be too much. |
