Maybe not Xlcr...

There are very few reasons to threaten to on someones grave. Their opinion about the XB platform is very far removed from any of those reasons.

Don't get me wrong though... I think we agree on the fact that Alan and Vik just don't see the light WRT the XB platform and what it represents and/or is capable of.

They keep retreating to the racetrack. Buells entire philosophy is centered around the street and making a bike that's the best in that environment. Even down to the gearing. I don't run my XB12 much over the freeway speeds very often for long periods of time because I feel like I'm revving the nads off of it. That said... I have run 105 for a couple hours straight a few times (with one stop for fuel I suppose), once through the desert of Southern California (Hwy 78), twice from here to Vegas and back (Once two up, and one being both ways in one day) and everything was fine. The bike never skipped a beat even though I was running at 4500 of 6000 RPMs.

Put the bike on a nice deep twisty canyon road though... You can FEEL that it's right at home. I don't need to modify my line to avoid washboard bumps mid turn. I don't need to change gears hardly at all. I've followed all sorts of bikes through The Spars and the IL4s are rowing the gearbox like crazy to keep it in the power. The big ones not quite so much but they still shift about 10X as much as I do (for the record, I shift twice through the whole 11 miles). It's highly flickable for the sections that have ten turns in 100 yards. I don't know of any racetrack aside from some go kart tracks that have that, but the good canyon roads are full of those sections.

I'm not saying that the modern IL4's are crap. I never have. I'm just saying that they weren't purpose built for the style of roads that I prefer to have fun on (and that my driveway dumps me almost directly onto). The XB was purpose built for those roads. It does EXCEEDINGLY well there. It can be made to be a competent track bike as well.

If there was an invitation to call on the form, then I obviously didn't read it well enough before I filled it out. I value my privacy, and I certainly wouldn't have listed it. Calling is stupid, nothing that happens on-line is worth getting that worked up over, nor is there anything to say that can't be said on-line. And yes, if you carried on in bars the same way you do here, you would probably be in poor physical shape by now. Because it's all attitude, dude, and it would be your attitude that got you in trouble, not your actual words.

As they say, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. So despite the macho words, I suspect you know better than to try it live.

And remember, everything I've said so far has been a reaction to that attitude. The only difference between me and most here is I has less patience for annoying gadflys than they do. I don't think that makes me strange or crazy.

I still have my doubts about you though. I mean, what can you possibly be getting out of this?

As for what they said, it was, "Let 'um come! We got plenty of space in the local hoosegow. Never did like those out-of-staters anyway". Remember that this is a tiny, dying cow town where everyone knows everyone else. If you ever do show up here, rest assured the local sheriff's officers will assume you are a raving nut case until proven otherwise, and treat you accordingly.

who said anything about coming out to a tiny town...

the more you say, the more I get the feeling you overblew the story to the cops and left out real details.

where did I EVER say anything online or on the phone about coming to your little town? Or did you make that part up? I think you made that part up.

and you still have a disconnect between online and real world.

Well, i can see that I need to make a telephone call to your local law enforcement agency to clear this up. Have a little chat with them and make sure they dont have any false information in a file with my name on it. Wouldnt want that.

you know filing a false police report is against the law right?

XLCR,

I can assure you that Alan is 100% like this in real life. And yes, I've backed him up in a real life bar fight.

Hehehehee.. that was fun. Thanks for reminding me of that fight.

Fight landed in our lap, Vik and I did nothing until the combatants started getting close to our women folk, then it was time to put it all to an end. I tried to break it up until someone clocked Vik and someone else spit on me.

Then it was tie for everyone to leave. I assisted their exit by picking one little fellow up by the collar and belt and using him to push everyone one else out of the door. Once everyone was out I threw my battering ram out into the street and closed the doors. unfortunately Vik was outside, having been pushed out with the crowd.

He made it back in to finish his drink though.

ahhhhh, a lovely night at The BackDoor Lounge

no joke. : D

Yep, i would go as far in real life as to say that I thought one bike was better than another...

GASP !!!! imagine someone being so bold?

Why its almost like someone posting on the CycleWorld Forums that they thought the 999 was a weak follow up to the 916... huh, now who could have said something like that XLCR?

Go ahead and call, I have a feeling by the time you are done they will be SURE you are a nut case! Nor does it work that way here. No police report, I gossiped to my cashiers, they gossiped at work and home, and pretty soon everyone in town knew I got a harassing phone call from some weirdo. Best just keep an eye out for him, neighborly thing to do and all. That's the way things work here, and for that matter, pretty much the way they work in all small towns. You must be a city boy, or you would know that.

As for the rest, as I said, it's not about WHAT you say, it's how you say it. In a lot of the bars I used to work in, you could talk about the weather with your attitude and it would get you in trouble. Or at least, the attitude you use here. Maybe when you are discussing things with people who don't ride your favorite brand to hate you come across differently, but I doubt if most of us here will ever know.

And yes, in spite of everything you claim, it's quite obvious you hate Buells. I think your arguments to the contrary are part something left over from when you did like them, part just being a typical racer and helping fellow racers, and part protective coloration.

But I think this set of posts has pretty much blown your cover. You've made it obvious that something about seeing a Buell win anything just grates in your craw. BTW, what did you think about the CityX winning a comparo against the Japanese second-string 600s on MO? I'll bet you ground your teeth!

When I was in college I took so many psych classes I ended up joining Psi Chi, the national honor society for psychologists, though my major was business. So from what I know, I would guess that you are one of those people whose self-esteem is based largely on believing yourself to be always right about things.

I'm guessing you made a decision some time ago that Buells just couldn't cut it, and would go under soon, and you transfered your loyalty to something else. So the longer that doesn't happen, the more threatened you feel. Naturally, having some of the world's best riders praise a bike you just KNOW is no good suggests that you are capable of errors in judgment, and it's clear that you don't handle such threats well. You want to believe that your judgment is so superior everyone should agree with you.

You are merely willing to put up with Buell, kind of like how some bigots feel about blacks. It's OK to tolerate them, as long as no one ever says they are as good as white people.
