Well, if all you can do is be negative about someone elses achievements Blake...

thats fine, I just dont see why you cant offer up a congratulations to the folks at BSA. I mean, why be so negative? Whether or not they read it, who wants to have such a bad attitude?

Why the hate towards BSA?

um... that was me showing beezers the anti-props....
Seems to me Blake was trying to direct the Beezer congrats to a site where the Beezer peeps would be able to receive, and therefore enjoy them.
Talk about positivity
honestly, I just got sick of beezers after years of wrenching on 'em. I think they're lovely to look at, and I enjoy the ride, I was nuts about that cool 850 kit that that company..i think they were called RSM, carried... I used to purchase old lightning and t-bolt choppers for a song, and retrofit them back to stock, with help from mitch klempf, british cycle, domiracer, et al. I still have a B25 oiut in the barn, somewhere, with the sleeve that would let go anytime the jug temp exceeded room temp.
They were beautiful with the chrome tanks, though, and Fonzie sure made the 441 victor cool again, by the late 70s.
Just seemed like a clunky frame, compared to a T120 or a Snortie featherbed.
Always had to remember to use the counterclockwise Joe Hunt as opposed to the clockwise of the Bonnies and TR6Rs. same as the Commandos. No Hate twoard the marque, just a dour, post-frustration shudder whenever I think of those crank bushings... Easy to tire of that old limey iron, quickly.
but hey- that's just me.

I can't sit here and defend BSA or the British bike industry of old, but I could with great merit sit here and type out many faults of just about every motorcycle ever made today. If you hang around a motorcycle breakers yard for long enough you'll quickly realize that no one makes a perfect motorcycle.

That said, credit where credits due and I think as Court says, no one actually makes a bad motorcycle. Or at least that's the diplomatic answer!

whhhaaaaaa...whhhhaaaaa....whhhaaaaaaattt !?!?!?!

You mean, you think that Buells arent PERFECT?

For jah's sake man, arent you HUMAN? Dont you realize that Erik Buell has FEELINGS? How can you sit there and disrespect every single thing Erik has done in his entire lifetime by having an opinion about the motorcycles that have his name on the tank ?

hey, this is fun. I like being a Buell enthusiast. Its easy, ya just jump on anyone that offers up any sort of opinion about motorcycles.

Cool.

Knock it off with the non-sense Chop. I know you're just being sarcastic.

You still don't have a clue. You keep telling us that we're all oblivious to the imperfections of our jewel of a sled that E. Buell so graciously gave to us and that we're all blinded by the kool-aid.

Do you not realize that YOU are sitting directly across the boat from us? Do you know where that puts you? It puts you on the SAME fricken boat. I'm perfectly willing to both realize AND admit that the XB platform is not perfect. What I'm NOT willing to decide is that those imperfections MAKE the bike.

Alan,

I was lead to believe from your follow-on post to mine that you horribly misinterpreted my comments, so I quoted them for your reconsideration.

Frankly, other than seeking to antagonize Buell enthusiasts via poorly disguised disingenuousness, sarcasm, and exaggeration, I'm not seeing your reason for participating here. Frankly, I wish you would abstain from doing so. Your agenda is clear, and unfortunately it violates the policy of the board, specifically that "those seeking to sow disharmony and malcontent are not welcome at BadWeatherBikers.com." You and others seeking to engage in such disingenuous behavior have SacBORG for that.

Pretty sure that I am speaking for the vast majority of Buell entusiasts and BadWeBrs when I say that I sincerely hope that everyone will honor the intent and policies of this Buell Enthusiasts' site.

Parhaps we should move right on to why this should matter SOOOOO... much to Mr. Chop anyway. Odd that this grates on his nerves so, to require his acid remarks. Is it really so necessary to keep Buells from winning anything at all? I think we should explore his personal issues at length. I know more than anyone how far he's willing to go.

Yeah, but didn't you urinate on his future gravestone or something to that effect? That was pretty un-called for if you ask me...

I'd be a little ticked about that too...

WRT Alan's interest in subtly slamming the XB at every chance... I could mostly care less. Sometimes it gets me a little riled up when he accuses ME of being blind. I guess it's one of those "People in glass houses"/"splinter in someone else's eye" things...

Ahhh well...

I wonder how fun he'll get once Buell REALLY starts doing well : ). The big four and the rest are quaking in their boots as I type (or at least they should be...).

Blake, not trying to disguise anything... so if it comes off as anything but pure sarcasm the intent of my posts are missed.

I guess all of the ACTUAL (not sarcastic) posts (by you and others here) stating that not agreeing with the magazine article was the equivialnt of disrespecting Erik Buell, his lifes work, made me less of a human being for not being able to understand his feelings or those of the people that work at Buell.... on and on

Really got to me.

And I had let it go until the subject came up again.

And then there is Rocket, saying that no motorcycle is perfect. And to me, thats along the same lines as suggesting that a bike not be #1 in someones book (mine) while it may be in others (BIKE's).

So, seeing as how the first round of comments were fitting, and within BadWebs policies, I figured my comments would be withing the policies... seeing as they said pretty much the same things.

the only difference being a tinge of sarcasm.. cuz I REALLy dont think those things. I thinnk its possible to have an opinion about a motorcycle and NOT disrespect the designer or his/her lifes work. And its possible to have friends that have different opinions about what bike is best, and its possible to discuss what you like and dislike about bikes, of any brand, and still be friends.

Thats what grates my nerves so, is that it does not seem possible to do that here.

i guess yer right, thats what SacBorg is for.

nothing disingenuous about it.

other than the sarcasm.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

thats just it, and part of it that ya'll steadfastly refuse to read or understand.

I support Buell at every friggin turn. Prolly more than you do (starts the pizzing match).

I put my money, time and effort to promote the Buell brand, to fight for Buells racing in more classes, to support them in the pits, to put $ towards multiple Buell racing efforts, to go to Buell sponsored events... I've bought the products, I've owned the bikes and will own one again when they make one that fits my riding style, I'd racing one today if I could afford it...

but ya'll have some STUPID idea that just because I dont jump up and dont and scream "Buell is #1!!!!" that I hate the brand.

its the most ridiculious thing I've ever heard of.

"Thats what grates my nerves so, is that it does not seem possible to do that here. "

That's not the case though Chop. You know it isn't. Why do you continue to harp on that when you KNOW it's not the case? Kind of speaks volumes about your Buell bashing doesn't it? Do you know why you SEE it that way? I'll tell you : )... Because that's what you WANT to see.

What's not possible is to have a conversation about Buell's achievements w/o you posting something like this...

"Congrats to the BSA Gold Star !!!

Way to Go BSA !!!

Seems as though they are a better street bike than one of the Buells... now thats a GOOD bike. "

Sure, maybe Bike rated a BSA gold star above an XB but that's not the point. You DO know what the point is, however... I know you do. So why do you always throw rocks at Buells? It's not about us not bashing them (even though you make an effort to twist it into that every time you poke your nose in here), it's about YOU being butt hurt about Buell doing well and making sure you post as much every chance you get.

I'll give you credit for the fact that you're adept at subtlety, but I don't care if you're subtle about it. It's still there. We both know it (along with others). YOU can't handle Buell doing well.

Guess what?

They still do well and still get better every year.

If you want to have a level headed conversation about the benefits and drawbacks about the XB platform (even compared to other bikes) go ahead, be my guest, please do, I'm all for it, really. I think most everyone here is as well. I will get defensive if you don't have your facts straight though. If you start bashing Buell for the sake of it... well... What's the point? We don't talk trash about whatever you ride. Why do you make a point to come over here and throw rocks at our bikes? They're good bikes (notice I didn't say perfect...).

BSA Goldstar better than an XB? Apparently you missed the entire context of that portion of the review... Or, Maybe you DIDN'T but you can't help but throw rocks from your glass house? Where did your bikes score? Maybe check out the "remove the emotion" portion where the only bike that placed better than the XB12R was the Duck 999R and only because it has more drive.

You're still twisting Alan.

I think we can all handle you saying pretty close to whatever you'd like to say. It's the subtlety and sarcasm you use.

If you wanna say... "Why did the 12S place a good deal lower than the 12R?" I'll reply in kind.

You can't do that though. You feel the need to say "A BSA Gold star is better than a 12S."

We both know that's not the case (unless of course you actually DID miss the whole point of the article), so why say it like it IS the case?
