Some people need to be pissed on, dead or alive. I don't feel one bit sorry about it, and I'm not about to apologise.

Happy Birthday Henrik!!! I'd buy you a Uly for your birthday if I could afford it.

Chop, I for one DIG your subtlety! thumbsup

...reading the bylaws and board polices currently to find all of those ten dollar words. Hell, I remember when this was an e-mail group. In the shuffle and growth I guess I didn't get my rules of conduct book. Lord knows I'm outta line with every breath I take. : )

hey- Like I said-
Blake didn't disrespect any beezers, I did...
albeit in a love/hate sick-of-the-prince-of-darkness-after-wrenching-on-way-too-many way,
i certainly stated things about 'em i still like.
I'm not about to tell anyone to "shut the f*ck up" about it, nor will I get worked up enough to wee-wee on anyone's grave. I could care less.
you're all very likely people whose company i'd enjoy, in person.
When I was disrespected on another board, I stepped away from that board after making it very clear that i'd prefer such discourse to occur only in person. I'm sure it would have lead to good-natured hijinks, etc., but that's not the point.
I am aware that the board that disrespected me is the private property of someone else, and I'm not going to dis those men in their own house.
I would hope that Blake might receive the same respect in his house. were he to give me the boot right now, I'd move on. I wouldn't keep whining about Blake's site on my own site.
You wuill not catch me disrespecting another site, here.
The simple fact herein is that we'd all likely get along famously in person.
If I've got an issue with someone, I'l keep it between me and that person.
worked fine for me so far in this life.
besides, In my world, you can't really whine about people behind their backs. You'll be taken to task with that person, usually in a nice private room, surrounded by your peers, and it'll get settled quickly. archaic though it may sound, it builds character and tolerance and an excellent disregard for one's own facial features.
i look forward to meeting all y'all someday(s).
I know we'll all share laughs.
They're only motorcycles, kids....

You all know why Chop's picking on you. The first time this whole thing came around, you twisted and turned his words and he's repaying the favor.

From XLCR: "Parhaps we should move right on to why this should matter SOOOOO... much to Mr. Chop anyway. Odd that this grates on his nerves so, to require his acid remarks. Is it really so necessary to keep Buells from winning anything at all? I think we should explore his personal issues at length. I know more than anyone how far he's willing to go."

Yeah, he will go so far as to...GASP...call you on the phone!

NOOOOOOO!!! Not a phone call! The humanity of it! A single phone call to ask "what do you mean when you say you want to on my grave?"

So, XLCR, when you called the cops, did they laugh at you?

Vik

Alan,

You say that "I guess all of the ACTUAL (not sarcastic) posts (by you and others here) stating that not agreeing with the magazine article was the equivialnt of disrespecting Erik Buell, his lifes work, made me less of a human being for not being able to understand his feelings or those of the people that work at Buell.... on and on

Really got to me."

Please show me where anyone here stated as you claim that "not agreeing with the magazine article was the equivialnt of disrespecting Erik Buell, his lifes work, made me less of a human being for not being able to understand his feelings or those of the people that work at Buell."

In truth, your claim is a completely inaccurate characterization of reality and I can produce my own and your own statements to prove it quite easily. As I recall, you berated Buell for engaging in "engineering for engineering's sake" then interjected naysaying negativity into a thread that was intended to congratulate the folks at Buell for garning such high praise and recognition. I started that congratulatory thread and I for was irritated by your strange need to crap all over it.

uhh.... this make take a while digging through the posts, but I think it was YOU Blake that critized me for alledgedly critizing Erik Buells life work by saying I dont agree with the article....

again, will have to dig, and may not have the time for a day or two... but its there.

there were also statements about the FEELINGS of Buell employees...

and as far as ACTUALLY critizing Buell and saying something is engineering for engineerings sake... YEP. Sure enough. I did and still do critize Buell. Thats my right. I can have an opinion on anything I like.

I can critize BWM's telelever front end for being engineering for engineerings sake. Great on paper, falls short of the feel and performance of other systems in the real world.. .just like Desmo valves, just like the ZTL front end.

Yes, I sure did and will continue to critize as I see fit. Again, its called an opinion, everyone has one, and like... well, lets just say they all stick. Mine included.

BUT, expressing one is NOT the equivilant of dissing someones life work... like you said it was.

Incidentally, were anyone to disrespect beezers, KTMs, Rokons, what-have-yew, on this site, wellll....it's a buell site. so be it.
for someone to log onto a beezer site and ditch on beezers...welll....that'd be kinda
inflamatory, right?
Has anyone here posted negative remarks about a marque on that marque's site?
...Other than antibuell remarks posted here, I don't think so.
incidentally, I've never even sat on an XB, I have no buell tatoos, I've only ever owned two buells, wheras I've owned nearly a dozen BMWs, over a dozen Triumphs, over a dozen Beezers, and many fine Harley-davidson products.
I own an old S2, and I have no delusions about it being some veltklasse sportbike. It's a neat, simple, reliable standard. period.
Best bike I've ever owned.
doesn't make me a koolaid sipper...I don't speak for others' buells.
I cannot understand how any person, let alone any group of people, can get so worked up against a marque.
Are there any threads here or on American Thunderbike maligning the Rickman or the Montessa? The beta or the H2?
I don't see it. Why is there a site out there so worked up about ditching on a particular make? it's bizarre.
why are there innumerable threads on another iste out there ditching on THIS site?
you dislike badweb, fine. don't participate.
but to go on, ad nauseum, whining about this site and these bikes....
..... it's obsessive...
youze boys are clearly better men than that.
try to draw your site's cohesion from what you all enjoy, not from what you all loathe.
groups based on loathing are like autoimmune conditions. when they run out of sick cells to attack, they tend to attack healthy ones, including each other.
n' dat sho'nuff ain'ts no goods, no, sah!

Here's a clue, when you, someone entirely devoid of engineering expertise sees fit to proclaim that the work of devoted engineering profesionals is "engineering for engineering's sake" then seek defiantly to defend such an unfortunate statement since it is "your opinion", well... you are not helping your case. A thoughtful person would rescind such an unfortunate and horribly innacurate statement. But I guess if one can continue to convince oneself that carving better than 6 LBs from the unsprung mass of a sport bike's front wheel/brake assembly amounts to nothing more than "engineering for engineering's sake" one can pretty much take up any case no matter how unsupportable it may be.

Please keep the naysaying, uninformative, unhelpful stuff off BadWeB is all we are asking. We are looking to foster productive, positive, informative, interesting contributions here.

cling to that figure tightly there...

your favorite thing to misquote. It started off as 6lbs lighter than a 2000 or 2001 RC51 wheel (I forget which), and in your mind the Buell from wheel has transmografies into 6lbs lighter than EVERY sportbike wheel.

I said it before... if the engineering involved does not produce a better over all system, what good is it?
Any design can have valid advantages on paper, but yet not translate into a better performing system in the real world (ZTL, Telelever, Demso, air suspension... any system)... and if it doesnt result better performance than other systems.. it is, and always will be, engineering for engineerings sake.

Opinion... desmo valve trains are engineering for engineerings sake...

They have advantages on paper, but shortcomings that make them not have overwhelming advantages compared to other systems.

Can thier advantages be touted? Sure.
Does it mean that a desmo motor as a whole is better than any other valve train? Nope.

and if it doesnt perfomr better... whats the point? Other than being different for differents sake.

put in engineering for engineerings sake.

Thats why a number of engine makers tried it and dropped it. Ducati is just the latest to come along and use it as a marketing tool. Their V-Twins dont put out any more HP per cc than any other V-Twin... so whats the point in the Desmo...

engineering for engineerings sake.

a cool engineering system that offers no advantage over others, other than being cool.

No extra performance.

"Well said, and exactly what we are trying to avoid here."

we're all motorcycle enthusiasts, and purdy funny ones, and purdy smart, at that.
can we just forego all the grave-weein', buell-bashing, etc., and celebrate our like interests?
Alan- let it go. You have good site there out in Sacto. why ditch on this one? If you feel you've been slighted, maligned, etc., do what i did, just let it go. I don't participate on your site because I won't ditch on a guy in his own home. Take that cue, you'll feel better. You wanna be P****d off at someone, go find the crank-case tweaker that boosted your beloved wagon and take it out on his mangy a*s. he needs it, and you'll feel great!
We all have far too much in common to allow this petty stuff to bring us down.
I've never met blake in person, and regardless of what *some* sites may say, he and I are two different people, and I'm not one of his "minions". He is a very intelligent Motorcycle enthusiast who runs this excellent board. He has never been anything other than a gentleman to me, and that means a lot, in my book. let's all learn from each other. I know
I still am.

ROFLMAO Unbelievable.

Alan, your ignorance is surpassed only by your arrogance. LOL!

That you are actually continuing to argue that removing 20%+ of the mass from a sportbike's front wheel/brake assembly is of no real significance proves my point perfectly. LOL!

BTW, the Buell front wheel/brake assembly is more than 8 LBs lighter than that of the RC51. I graciously alloted the newest repliracer wheel/brake assemblies a few pounds for the benefit of doubt.

Neither here nor there, I repeat again...

what is the purpose of it?

to make something "neat" or to produce results?

and if it doesnt produce better results than another system.. what good is it? no matter what advantages is has on paper.

someone entirely devoid of engineering expertise

ahhh, come one... i'm not COMPLETELY devoid of engineering expertise...

there is that whole rocket scientist thing I've got going. It doesnt qualify me for much, other than being able to launch rockets approaching the power of a Mercury Redstone... it takes a little knowledge of physics, calculus, materials, aerodynamics... granted, it aint much...

but I'm not ENTIRELY devoid of expertise...

I remember a lecture or two from my integral equations, statics and dynamics, fluid dynamics and aerodynamics classes from college..

not an expert, but not devoid either...

anyway... Tramp had good advice, I'm letting it go.
