Anyone using the Ventura luggage system - any comments? Likes/dis-likes?

Currently considering it as a soft luggage option for the CityX

Cheers
-Jack

I'm a Ventura System advocate

fit, function, finish - all in line with it's reasonable cost.

plus the high loop-mounted fabric bags
are roomy

on my M2, a MX handlebar pad on the low loop gives the passenger's pelvis a reassuringly firm rest

on an XB? dunno, but I'll bet it's similar [may require a spacer or something]

get yours from American Sport Bike

the basic rack & bike-specific struts are much cheaper than $400!!

any decent generic rack'll have to cost $125 or more, & it won't fit any Buell

I also bought the tall loop/big tailbag set for long trips

dunno original [or final] costs, but it'a all well worth it....

I just bought the mounting brackets and one rack for about $125.

Haven't put it on, as it interferes with the Banke rear piece "eliminator". I need to drill two holes in the Banke piece for the mounting brackets to go. Shouldn't be a problem just more time than I had, yet.

It certainly looks/feels substantial. Even though the stated weight limit seems low.

I have the Ventura on my 12S & I like it. I'll admit that when I first got & installed it I didn't much like the looks of it. To me it interfered with the nice clean lines of the bike. I ended up taking it off. Then a week later I needed it & put it back on. About two weeks after that, I took it off only to put it back on a couple weeks later. It's been on ever since. Now that I'm used to it, it looks just fine. It's very versatile. 90% of the time I just have the sport rack & small sport pack on there. When I need more carrying capacity it takes me less than three minutes to switch over to the big rack for the 35 & 45 liter bags.
The big 45 liter bag is huge. Another cool thing is that you can zip two 45 bags together or two 35 bags together or a 45 & a 35 bag together for enormous carrying capacity.
With the 45 bag loaded & sitting on the passenger pillion (solo riding position) it's a wee bit cramped on the S but nothing worth complaining about. It's probably a wee bit roomier on the R & the Ss. If I have a light load I just keep the bag positioned on the rack behind the pillion & it's works perfect.

ditto to Metalstorm's comments

once Ventura went on the M2, it's stayed there.....

Rhino,I have the Ventura system and it's pretty great stuff.I have the grab handle, and the tall pack frame.I just use a medium US Army ALICE pack without it's frame on the tall Ventura frame and it fits great. When I don't need it,the grab handle makes it nice to move around the garage and doesn't look too bad.My wife wouldn't ride on the back without a sissy-bar and the ventura frame was close enough for her (hehe).Very satisfied.

The Ventura system rocks! I've used it since 1999.

Where's the best place to buy one of these systems? Is there one website that offers them any cheaper, or is it the same across the board?

I ordered mine direct from Ventura's website but Al (American Sportbike) carries them. Had I known that at the time I would have ordered mine from him.
