I was at the Wileyco web site and listened to the sound clips. They're not the best quality but I didnt really notice that much of a difference between the stock and the Wileyco. Anyone have any experience with them? |

I'm speaking more to the shape of the torque curve than the magnitude. If the torque curve is shifted 1000rpm to the right as you claim, then there was something very wrong with the bike's state of tune. Suggest you try again.
Keith's dyno shows the race ECM and Race intake with the stock can. Nice fat torque curve, no dips whatsoever.

With the WileyCo on my M2 I get more rider noise than with the stock exhaust. The sound is deeper and louder than stock. Sounds different than a V&H, not louder, just different. I'll probably put the WileyCo back on the M2 for this upcomming summer (the new neighbors should just love that at 6:30am). Don't know if WileyCo did anything to cure the front flat-flange gasket from blowing out, I fixed mine with a piece of copper sheet cut to fit. |

Hey folks,
At the KC Mob gathering last night, I got to hear Shazam's new Latus pipe on the FIrebolt.
Holy friggin cow!
It sounds great! Sounds like a big v-8 at idle. What an improvement over stock. Looks like I have to spend some more money. |

I tried to tell everyone how good the Latus muffler sounded! I think when more people hear it, the word will start to spread and people will be choosing these mufflers over the competitors. |

Anybody know if you can put a jack underneath the Latus, Force or Wileyco mufflers, like you can on the stock muffler? This is coming from a guy that would be pissed if he spent $$$ on a new muffler and had to follow it up with more $$$ to buy 2 new wheel stands to complement his shiny new motorcycle jack!

Inside the stock muffler is an inner chamber - the ends of which are the jack points marked on the can. This gives it enough strength to withstand the weight of the bike without crushing it. I don't think any of the aftermarket mufflers are built with this purpose in mind. |

The D&D XB9 muffler is, but I don't know what they sound like or anyone that purchased one.

So, has anyone figured out if the Latus will support the bike? If not, how would you change tires? I've sent Latus e-mail a couple times and get no response back. |

I discovered to day that there is a different muffler then i have in the race kit for XB9R.
(82003-02Y compared with 82003-02YA)
Is there a problem with the "old" muffler that i should know about? and should i try to get the new one on warranty or something? |

Negative; the "A" suffix is a "running change" during the production year. You'll remember it was we Buell customers who demanded and cried out that Buell should implement "better" as it was available, not wait until the model year.
The "A" is simply an evolution. Drop me a note if you want/need details.

i like to be updated so i talked to my dealer for a minute ago and it seems that he likes me, because i can exchange my muffler for a new one he had at home.. |

That is an accurate statement. It will include the "Y" suffix.
There is, just for the sake of comfort, nothing wrong with the muffler you currently have nor will you have any performance increase with the new one.

I saw the D and D pipe for the XB9 at Millers in Daytona today. They told me a guy bought one yesterday, installed it in their parking lot and was very pleased with the installation ease and sound. Price was $450, color black. See www.danddexhaust.com for photo.

I put on my Latus muffler last night. This thing sounds great. At idle it sounds sweet. A nice low rumble. At any rpm above 3000, it is loud. I haven't ridden much yet, so I haven't decided if it is too loud or not. The installation was easy. My idler pulling did have a little corosion on one of the studs so it was a little difficult to get loose. The rear axle setup is way cool. Changing the belt will be easy. You could do it on the side of the road with the proper tools. The only problem I had was I think I pinched the speed sensor wire when I put the pulley cover back on causing the speed sensor to fail as soon as I test rode the bike. That makes speed sensor number two for me. This one was my fault though. I hope to get back to the dyno next week. |

The D&D muffler for my XB9 arrived last week and I installed it on Friday. I am impressed with the quality workmanship and fit up. I had absolutely no problems bolting it on. I don't believe I could have installed it in a parking lot with just hand tools.
It sounds really deep at idle. The lumpy cams give it a nice lope.
At higher RPMs, however, it is LOUD. I'll make a video/audio clip of it and see if Blake will let me post it.
I'll get bike dynoed again and post the results here soon. |

The belt I could change on the side of the road, the muffler required a helper. In case anyone is wondering, the Latus is made from an Edelbrock RPM series muffler. It appears to be part #5504 with a 3-5/8 x 7-1/8 inch case. It is made from 409 stainless steel that has been coated black. Latus does a great job with these. Nice welds, solid brackets that all line up with the fairing, and of course, "most importantly" the chrome tips. It is about the same weight as stock, maybe slightly less. It also appears that it is solid enough to still use a jack under it while the bike is on the rear stand. |

I think the D&D pipe runs far more than $450. That guy stole that can if he got it for only $450. At 10% off of suggested retail it is selling for $535.50. |

I called Millers earlier this AM. They sold a handful of D&D XB9 pipes during Bike Week for $450. They now get them directly from D&D and they are slow in coming and $500. Where they received their first batch from I have no idea.

The Latus pipe is too loud for me. It has a great sound, but over 3000rpm, it is just more than I like. If anyone is interested in a Latus, I will give you a good deal. I am willing to take $325.00 for the pipe, shipped to you for that cost if you are in the U.S. If someone has a Buell race kit pipe (the one that doesn't rust) in good condition, I am also willing to trade the Latus even. Any takers, post here or email me. First person with the cash or trade gets it. |

I had the Latus, sold it and recently got a Wileyco. Looks great, quieter than the Latus but perhaps still a bit loud (at highway speeds) for my taste. Only about 200 miles on it so far. Anyone potentially interested? |
