And since The whole idea of a Cafe was to have the bike down to its essentials, eliminating and replacing heavier parts with lighter parts, to make the bike faster and more maneuverable, and regular parts with racing parts, and only wanting enough fairing to part the wind in a tuck, or none at all, what ever it took to reach the ton! If you could get ultra light wire wheels that didn't flex - modern wheels would not be in existence for sport bikes, same with brakes, etc. I believe I am following the spirit of the Cafe with the Blast, as Erik believes so with the CR.
My Cafes!

Besides vanity, there is not a extra piece of weight on the Blast, and though I still consider the CR a bit portly - slowly working on it, still for its power to weight ratio its not bad either. Getting rid of a few belt guards and inner fender (already got rid of passenger pegs), and perhaps an exhaust with a serious silencer later down the line - 20 plus pound drop - lol/perhaps not as well - lol

Edward....Edward.....when are you going to start knocking off copies of that LSR exhaust?

If you ship it to me I will shop it around to the Amish blacksmith shops and see what they can do with it. Maybe next year when you put your bikes away for the winter?

It's probably only 9 pm there now too....

Only 8 hours south of here the weather is completely different. If I ever come out to California, I better have a place to stay because I am never coming back here!

What winter is in Cali - not counting the mountains - lol - consists of cold temperatures that may drop into the 50's, and a months rain spread out into four months - true there is less riding because of that fierce cold and inclement weather, but we still manage to get some riding in as well. Its rough though, our bikes are always dirty, and customization projects are always very long term, and we hardly bother with group rides because the choice of roads from any doorstep in Cali are pretty awesome. Its a rough life - lol -

Tule fog sucks though, and is my sole reason for not riding to work most days.

10ft of visibility just isn't enough for me.

Dunno if I've loaded this pic here to the BadWeb or not yet, so here it is just in case.

I love Ed's bikes, they're gorgeous.

Projects are never done.
With the new suspension i took the high seat off an chopped 3" off the low seat an put it back on.
Looks different but i like it and it's lighter.
Went for ride did about 100 mile with no problem with the legs being bent alittle more or seat comfort.

I picked up an EMGO cafe fairing from JC Whitney. Gonna get it fitted up this weekend, and will post some pics. If anyone knows of any black plastics for sale, let me know!

Why don't you stripe your current bodywork? It'll look more cafe than just going black. Striping is available at most hobby shops that cater to larger r/c airplane crowd (also available elsewhere). Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure you've had all winter to formulate your own plan!

Think it will look good with blue / striped body work with a black emgo fairing? I'm taking the pro series exhaust and getting it powder coated flat black.

Blue and black looks good. You can also stripe the fairing blue, instead of black or be otherwise creative. Stripes are usually easy to remove too (or at least semi permanent and much cheaper than bodywork).

I like this light it's very good and it looks good - a combination that is refined with Acerbis durability - the fit is tight - with just enough room and breathing space for every thing - I had to re-tuck just one set of wires once - the number plate will need buffing to really build the shine - that's because they tape that numberplate paper to the front - happened as well on my first one - a few months a little at a time - she'll shine up - lol

I started with a 2001 stock yellow Blast 3 weeks ago when my buddy gave me this bike to teach my wife to ride on but thats not gonna happen. I was told I had Parkinsons in Oct of 2011 and sold my Harley and all that goes with it after being told it was to dangerous to keep riding it but after riding the Blast I can tell you I'm not going back. Googled up Buell Cafe racer and found lots of photo's and this forum so here I am......
Less than $100 later I'm well on my way to getting my Buell Cafe up to speed. Now for some pics.

stripped the tail to clean it up and remove the extra plastics

Then prepped the plastics for special primer and satin black paint

Installed Clubman bars

And yesterday installed the tank logos after finding the link here on the forums

Right now I'm in it 1 jig saw blade, 1 can primer, 2 cans satin black, $30 for clubman bars and $10.75 for the tank decals.

I'm stoked to say the least

Welcome!

...that black ring on the tank panel goes around the silver filler neck, not on top. But if you look around you'll see many Blasts where the tank cover isnt pushed down either. If you ever meet me my first uncontrollable action will be to fix it. Lol!

Let the madness begin : )

Just work it down before you put the bolt in the bottom of the tank cover. Armour all it and that will help too. Takes practice (of which I've had a lot of)! I see it all the time, even the bikes in the showroom.

Believe it or not, the dipstick tank cover O-ring goes inside the hole in the cover too!!! But you have to be really OCD and have the time to do that! Thats way more work than necessary and no one will even see if its right or wrong.

Okay I have a quick question because I can't seem to find a answer anywhere. Thumpe or anybody that knows how did you put your rearsets on the passenger bar? I love the look of it and really want to know how to do it to mine.

I had a how to on the buellforums but when it crashed an they became buellridersonline they lost all the pics on it.
It's a lot of cutting an welding and double checking to get the pegs even.

Excuse my crappy cell phone picture, but, I would like some oppinions on this fairing. Should I keep this front fairing?(I've painted it yellow since then and painted the deppression around the light in a metallic pink) Or run stock until something better comes along? My buddy gave this to me, and we thought it may look good. Maybe if I take a few inches off the top of it it may look more "fitting" to the bike, I'm not sure... which is why I'd appreciate some ideas and oppinions from the experts
I'd like to get a real cafe style front fairing, but don't have the cash lol.
-yes, I did just finish washing my vivid yellow beast.

boxy fairing

I can post a pic of the painted fairing, and maybe a photoshopped pic of the docked and rounded fairing... I'm leaning towards buying a cafe style fairing instead.... who knows. Winter is coming so I'll let ideas stew during the off season.

Oh, I've seen that pic before. Same as I said before "Very Nice!"
Looks like you grafted a tuber frame onto the Blast frame. A couple links and you'd really stiffen it up (that and a new isolator!). FWIW: An addition of a few carefully placed washers really stiffen up the front isolator, but the newest factory isolator is pretty darn stiff as well. I could go on about available stiffer links, but I'd rather just leave it on the note of what a nice job you've done.
Rat and well done at that! It takes vision to make primer and dirt look good.

@Val - Thanks!

@ErikO - Lol, yeah you've seen it.

It's the subframe from an XB9R. I do need a new front isolator and the third heim joint.

I'm toying with moving the battery around. I don't like 11lbs up that high.
