Well, there is that giant hole in the middle (where the other cylinder goes)!

I'm hoping to perform some magic this winter : ( with my streetBlast. But even though my riding season is significantly shorter now, it is still hard to have all the Blasts down at once. But I've got the itch real bad and all the parts to scratch it with!
My ignition died just as we were loading it in to the U-haul as if to say "Ha! You wont be riding me anytime too soon!".

Up for your viewing pleasure are the latest mods on one of my Buells. Chopped tail, cut down belt guards and rear inner fender, different handlebars, relocated/different turn signals, painted frame, stripes on rims, drilled stock exhaust. Your thoughts on the looks.

Thanks for the comment. Price on the tires was too good to pass up. Will admit Pirellis on wife’s Blast ride/handle better. With the way I'm treating them, they won't last long.

Very nice. Sorry, but the Dunlops arent a good deal at any price. We are serious : (
After $56,000 in medical bills, you won't risk running an inferior front tire again.

I only use Dunlops as tires for my roller parts bike.

I would also use them for a pit bike where my max speed was 1st gear.

I like that subtle body work Ltdin94, not too much, but noticeably different if you look a second time. The Blast is unique and it's probably more popular to hide its attributes so its good to see it closer to stock than not.

Well, I guess it is time for me to quit lurking and start sharing what I've been up to.

I love taking a sows ear and making a silk purse out of it, without spending a Kings ransom. I also like utilizing OEM parts or readily available pieces, should replacements ever be needed in the future.

IMHO, the Blast is a frumpy looking learners bike though honestly, the power is within reason and easily increased. Having a 2001 model that I picked up for less than $1000 and with only 607 miles on it, I hesitate to spend much and will keep that approach throughout the build.

I had to decide how I wanted to use it. I settled on using it for day trips, in the area and maybe some track days at the local club track, just to hone my long hibernating skills. In searching the net, my enthusiasm was peaked by the #11 Bottpower cafe racer (shown below) as inspiration while using the Buell Blast.

Phase One was to address the search light equipped front end and redesign it to look something more like the Bottpower, but remain street legal-ish. Those Mousketeer mirrors had to go. A simple approach was to add a number plate and utilize a powerful 1x4 LED lightbar for illumination. Replacing the bulbous turn sigs with smaller brighter LED's definitely helped trim the excessive appendages.

The handlebars always seem awkward and I needed something more naturally placed. The answer to the handlebars was found to be the ProTaper ATV Mid-Rise SE Series bars. Yes, they still lock & clear the tank. My posture feel much like the newer Ducati Monsters. (I am 5'10"). Those Mousketeer mirrors were replaced by some barend examples. Tonights shakedown ride (~25 miles) seems to have had great improvement in posture, though I may include rearsets at a later date.

Phase Two will be the air intake. That too will be fashioned like the Bottpower bike.

Unless ultra light CF will be too heavy and wind resistance will tear coupling - ask how I know.

Hey everyone!

I researched a lot and saw a lot of other people around asking about clubman handlebars on a blast. Seemed like the consensus was that they wouldn't fit quite right, with either the controls and everything hitting the gas tank when turning, or the handlebar lock would not be able to be used after putting clubmans on.

Well I am a stubborn @ss who has to discover failure for himself. So I ordered a pair of clubmans, and to my delight they came out great! I have attached some pics, mainly because I love the look, but also as a reference for anyone interested in the possibility of clubmans.

You can see below I still have the full range of motion, and can even use the handlebar lock. Also, I have a phone mount (black joystick lookin thing above the oil dipstick) so I can use waze for directions and to keep an eye out for the fuzz, and the mount for that was able to be secured under the handlebar too. I will probably find some foam or 3D print something at work to make the phone clamp tighter to the bars, but as is it doesn't seem like that thing is moving anywhere.

Anyways I think it came out great! Looking to do a matte black paint job to black out most of the bike, then maybe find some faded gold decals (buell pegasus, maybe some thinner gold racing stripes or something) and will drill out the exhaust soon and then I think I will have a mean lookin machine!

Let me know what you guys think! Sorry for all the pics, but I wanted to show off the full range of motion the bike and show anyone else looking at clubmans how cool it can make the blast.

I am a tall guy (6' 2") and felt ridiculous on the blast. The clubmans let me stretch out a bit. Long rides with a backpack were rough, but for a commuter and such, its awesome.

Thanks for the tips Gearhead! Yeah all the black still looks great, just thinking of ways to make it a little more unique than a standard Blast. I didn't think about it, but yeah if anyone had some duller black parts that are still in quality condition but that could use a paint job that they wanted to swap with mine, thatd probably be fine with me!

I think matte black, and some racing stripes or some sort of a design like Thumpe did with the gas tank would look really good.

As for the seat, I definitely think a different seat will be on the list of things to get soon. The Blast seat is like sittin on a slide constantly ahaha.

I'm new here, but have been lurking for a while. I recently picked up two '06 blasts from a local HD dealer. They were used for the "learn to ride" program, so needless to say they're beat up from multiple drops. That being said, they have 600 and 1200 miles on them, so they're essentially brand new. For $300 each, I couldn't say no.

First piece of business was to get the plastics off, and get to cutting. I've ordered some parts, and had a set of rearset mounts CNC'd. Progress is slow, but I'll update as I go. The end goal will be a fairly classic café/brat look, with minimalism in mind.

Mine is a work in progress. Picked up the ‘01 essentially non-running due to a multitude of issues the start of which was gummed up fuel lines and carb. Went thru everything and am finishing the back end. The guy I bought it from threw in a second saddle and a second chop rear end so this can go back to a two-up at the drop of a hat should someone desire to do so! He also tossed in the k&n and a poorly fabricated cold air intake that featured a plexi glass mounting flange. Suffice to say it needed to be replaced. I was finishing rebuilding the forks when the bolt stripped out of one fork so my final repair has sidelined my riding for now. Super fun bike and once I cover the plastic with faux carbon fiber it’ll be looking dark - and slick!

Researched how to make bodywork and figure I’ll form something off the existing rear end and use the 3M fiberglass resin kit with glass weave and will relocate the brake light/signal indicator/plate and paint the rear end to match the frame, or c-f it too. Either way, bike was $500 and I’m up to around $850 total with fresh tires and registration. Not too bad.

Im going back into the desert to reshoot it with the re-covered seat and new cold air intake when I get by fork put back together.
