EZblast, the combo seems to be on all Bonnie based air/oil cooled twins. |

I'm now running a chunk of wire-reinforced gas filler neck tube. It seems to be working great. I'ts very rigid, and being designed to transfer fuel it's not going to have any troubles with that. Just tightened the crap out of the clamps and it runs like a champ. Best part a foot of it is only a few bucks and there are a LOT of boots in a foot! |

Vortec, where did you get the wire gas filler neck tubing? I'm looking for a cheap alternative to buying a new boot. More importantly though none of the dealerships within 50 miles of me have any boots in stock. Anyone else know of a quick fix to replace a boot? Actually, my boot isn't hardly damaged at all so maybe there is a simple fix I could use to improve the seal (?). |

I dredged up this thread for an update...I found a place to get silicone turbocharger hose in the correct I.D. to work...it has 4 ply polyester reinforcement...comes in 1 foot pieces...I ordered a piece...when I get it in, I will see how it goes...I figure that with the reinforcement plies, tearing will cease to be a problem...We will see how it goes. |

Blast been running worse and worse for the past week. Yup...the carb boot is torn. Now I gotta wait two weeks for my local dealer to get one on the island.... |

When I was getting my carb re-jetted, in connection with the installation of my exhaust up-grade, I decided to be proactive and bought a new carb boot. So, a few days later I am ready to ride but my little beauty won't start. After loosing an hour of my life trying to figure what was wrong, I was thinking that the ignition module had gone to the happy hunting ground. It couldn't be the boot--its new-right? Well, it turns out that the guru who put the carb together did not tighten the hose clamp enough on the boot when he put the carb back on the bike. A few twist of a screwdriver and the engine was thumping happily. It doesn't take much of an air leak in the boot to stop the bike from starting.I am learning to check the simple things first when I have Blast problems. |
