Hi guys, I want to chime in here...

But would you do all that with out a better cam and upgrade to the head for the higher lift cam?

Thanks Sycho for the complement on my mechanical knowlege... I really do have a lot of experience dealing with mechanical systems but just not bikes the part names are somewhat unfamiliar it seems the bike world is off in its own little area when it comes to design... I have around 6 years of experience in heavy duty desiel repair, I have rebuilt around 20 engines for agricultural and industrial applications. The most expensive one being around $45000 start to finish. I have a 77 chevy truck I restored/rebuilt from the ground up. Rebuilt the engine in that too... only not even close to stock needless to say passes everything but a gas station, which is why i bought the bike. Along with that I am 30 credit hours away from a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Anyway thats a little background now back to the topics.

Swampy I did think of that when the big bore kit was mentioned the only problem I see lies with me... cause when I start doing things i tend not to stop untill its too much. This is how my mind would sort that data...
Big bore kit+cams -> need carb upgrade= buy the kit -> better air intake -> K&N filter plus EZ mod on the airbox maybe add some for better RAM AIR... while im in the engine port and polish heads. more flow in = more flow out need a better exhast.
Total Cost.... $2000 plus my time....

So all of these things are awsome and would probably kick the HP and torque up dramatically but as a NURIDER is it worth it?

I'm thinking, bore the cases, find an XB 9 front cylinder/head/piston, get a real sset of cams, and your carb will be just fine as it is what is used to feed engines twice its size.

Little more compression, better cam and I think you would see a marked improvement.
The idea with the Blast was to provide a riders edge platform with no suprises in torque delivery so the engine was simply designed with that in mind......though there were plenty of high performance ideas for that bike other than Riders Edge.
There used to be available an high performance ignition module, high performance cams, high performance exhaust, and a high performance intake right from Buell.

UPDATE!!!!
This past weekend I did the majority of the work to get the bike back on the road. It appears to me that somewhere in the bike's history it was ran HOT! I ended up replacing pretty much all of the ball bearings in the transmission. Luckily for me and maybe to some of you on here. ALL of the ball bearings are standard bearings and can be found IN STOCK at your local auto parts store. I actually had a couple in my shop that were NIB that were the correct size. Anyway the transmission went back together smoothly and I took apart the clutch and did an extensive cleaning there was a lot of crud in it. Everything looks brand new now....
BUT
I do have a couple comments/questions..
EZ... you were right that there was a bearing out in the clutch, i didnt catch it cause it was already removed when i got the bike. but it was worth going through the transmission to replace all the bearings they were all pretty bad. It was the little bearing that rides near the cover side of the case. Also I did not remove the lifters from the case or thier housing and my dad and i noticed when it was back together that when we rolled it over we were pushing air out the intake. Is there a chance that the lifters can lock in an extended position and cause the valves to float? I set the timing like the book showed for the cams...

That is the throw out bearing, it goes when the primary is adjusted too tight and the clutch is adjusted to tight. The noise should be terrible at start up do to the lifters needing to pump themselves up with oil first - you could add some oil to lessen that considerably. Without oil the lifters will act as you described.

ok thank you that makes me feel better... I also found out what the initial problem was... the spring that holds the tensioner in place broke and caused the chain to run like there was no tension and that probably caused all of the other problems... overall it was very exciting to see everything from start to finish... well its not totally finished but its close. Soon upgrades and modifications....

Sounds like the primary was too tight - and that broke the spring, also doing damage to the throwout bearing.

Pushrods are different lengths. So if you put them in backwards you will have a problem.

the longer push rod is for the exhaust, which is the front push rod.
