Not the Jr. but a 4-bank unit. Also have a 2-bank unit on the way.

I swear by Battery Tenders.

Looks like I sold the Sportster. I didn't ride it anymore, I only kept it around for my friend Clint to ride and after Clint died....well it just sat there. Clints younger brother Doug wanted it for his wife(you know, Sportsters are for girls after all)

1

Clint is on the left, Basement Bobby, and Swampy in front of the Sawmill. During my first two years of college I daily drove past the Sawmill on my way to class and I NEVER stopped in. I was 51 years old before I ever went there, and that was chauffering Basement Bobby when he had his broken leg. Bobby worked there many years, and met Baby Momma number 2 there(she is a hottie)

2

And the excuse for going on this particular ride was to retrieve the newest addition to Clints home...Buella, looking a little bewildered after joining the 100 Mile Per Hour Club on the back of the Uly.
Now to get some cheesecake pics on the Sportster before it goes, too bad it is cold out, I told her to do it sooner....LOL

End of an Era, beginning of another!

" I sold the Sportster. I didn't ride it anymore" Okay, thats just crazy talk. I can see selling it because a bikeless friend really needed a ride. But selling it just because you didn't ride it? I just cant wrap my head around that!

You'll always remember that good looking Sportster........
and regret selling it after she gets roses painted on it and her nickname in pink graphics. "Oh, yeah, its Swampy's old bike. I bought it just like this"!

Doug lives in Kansas City, more than 12 hours away, I will never see it again...LOL

I hope they get it lettered "Clintstone"

But....she will probably drop it sometime around June, and I will have it sitting in my garage waiting for the paint to dry....

Yeah it is a nice lesurely scoot, not too intense, when you want to just drive around and have the hicks give you the thumbs up. I wanted to finish it up with rearsets and an obnoxious sissy bar about 24 inches tall, but I just don't have time for it.

But I could really use some scratch right this minute to invest in the future, and when it all finishes up, hopefully this summer, I will tell you all about it because it is the most bizarre story I have yet to tell...

Thanks for the research EZ.
I am gonna try taking these 4164's to the parts store and replacing with the 4162's.

Sooner or later gonna have to try that Denso Racing plug.

LOL - really, did it for myself long ago, Done the hot plug and lean engine thing, didn't turn out well (though the rebuild results where sweet!) - lol - I play it safe on the plug side now, and a tad rich on the fuel, the plug can handle it and my chances of nuking the motor that way are greatly reduced - even with das boot!

You get to make those cool noises with your mouth - like on South Park,

however, if you watch the track video link you'll still hear the sound of gears going through an rpm range - the drive system, not a bad sound, still noticeable, much quieter. He just reals them in on the straights, that torque from 1rpm max - instant on - zoom - a bike like that - 200lbs lighter, capable of a 1000 miles running before needing an hour to charge back up - definitely still in the future - but a lot closer!

Thats gotten really old by now : (

Silent is great. But ride long enough and you know that you are completely invisible. Some noise at least warns the other drivers on the road that you are next to them before they pull into your lane (especially when "lane sharing"). They've even researched adding noise to electric cars for safety.

Though the subject has been beaten to death on Badweb, HD riders are not the only ones with loud bikes. There's nothing more annoying that some squid with a rice rocket, loud pipes (sometimes stock too) and feels he must rev his engine up repeatedly to get his bike "warmed up" before he leaves an outside cafe.
Kawasuki actually had an ad in one of the cycle magazines years ago that promoted this behaviour.
Seriously.
Jackasses ride all kinds of motorcycles.

Awwww - dont take it hard es little joke, nespa? Actually the tranny on the racer had a distinct sound loud enough to hear, even with the other race bikes in the track, so I figure they are taking that issue into account, or it would be much quieter - like the current Zero bikes are. The learning/development process on these bikes is moving at a very rapid speed, projections say that in ten years a lot of motorcyclists - will be on electric bikes because of 3 things: cheaper fuel source, easier to maintain and work on - a lot less parts, cheaper to own - they figure the average price for a bike capable of superbike performance will range in the 7000s, new right now is in the 12000s - this is full retail pricing we are talking - not the deal a guy you know can give you - lol

Yes, Wild Hogs is funny.

Ok, this is annoying the hell out of me, how do I get the screws out of the rear hugger? They are in some kind of rubber grommet that refuses to let go. The screw spins with the grommit, and using a vice grip to hold the grommit doesn't seem to help.

Inside the little rubber grommet is an even smaller threaded brass sleeve, if the screw and the sleeve stay together too long they morph into one another and you end up cutting the rubber away, and grabbing the sleeve with a grippy pair of vise grips, then you strip out the allen head or torx head screw and you eventually end up using a die grinder or saw and cutting the head off.
So just cut them off with a die grinder.

Or....its really only rubber holding them in, so you could also cut away the rubber and get a good grip on the bolt head and pull it out. Or it may pull out without any cutting or grinding at all.
Or....you may just be able to take a punch to the inside of it and pop it out that way (be careful not to bend the mounting tab up too much.
Use antiseize on the threads when reinstalling. New "well nuts" are available at a good hardware supply store and except for the ones holding on the flyscreen, all the well nuts and bolts on the Blast are the same size (some bolts are slightly longer). Get extras!

To pull out a well nut without a bolt through it, thread a bolt into it (not tight, just enough to grip) and pull. They also pop back through the hole very easily!!!

I don't have a die grinder, nor do I know what one is, so it looks like I am about 20 seconds away from crowbaring it. Also, I don't give a damn about the mounting tab if this picture is indication.

oh : (
Its just a metal sleeve through rubber. The more rubber that is cut away the easier it will pull or push out. But you'll have to get to the inside of the hugger (possibly through the hole in the wheel).
