Or any number of BADWEB SPONSORS could fix the head for you. Or you could do it yourself. But your angst makes me think there isnt enough time to do either before the first frost sets in.: (

New to forum. I am looking for a set of the midnight black plastics for a 2001 Blast. I bought my 16 year old son a 2001 Yellow Blast so he can ride with me. He likes the yellow but would prefer the black. I have checked numerous websites but can't seem to find any for sale. My local HD dealer can order for $400 for front fender, tank cover and tail piece but it will take 6-8 weeks. I would purchase or trade the yellows as long as they are in excellent condition. Thanks

Welcome Cmat!
See here for possible trades:
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/201 64/407880.html?1275019234
also follow the links.
Black is the most desired colour and commands the highest price on e-bay. It is also the colour most people want to trade FOR!
Plastics come up for sale quite often on e-bay. Black also tends to fade/dull the worst with riding and time. So perfect and excellent are expensive to find. Shiny with a few scrapes is cheaper and easier.

Your son is 16 and its his first bike?! I wouldnt worry so much about perfect/excellent condition. He is going to drop it. Driveway, parking lot, in front of his friends house, everybody drops their first street bike. The Blast kickstand is also designed to fold up easily (new riders often leave them down), so its very, very common for Blasts to fall over, especially when left running.
No offense-just my opinion.

I'm one of the few people who've gone from black to yellow (yellow is much, much easier to see). : )

You might also think about some black striping as a cheaper, attractive option.

Just peel off the stock Decals and you have a blank canvas to start with, Vinyl Letters, Vinyl Numbers, Striping for any combination your imagination can come up with.

Some great ideas. Not so sure about the green hornet but you never know I just saw a movie trailer for the new Green Hornet movie last night. I do like cafe racer look with the open engine compartment. Thanks for your ideas

Former Blast and XB9S owner here, I put down a deposit yesterday on a new 2010 Royal Enfield Bullet C5 (499cc). Seattle now has a dealer (Ducati Seattle) and they are gearing up for these now-modern beauties, with 2-year warranties.

Fuel injected, air cooled, EFI, hydraulic valves, a chain, unit construction motor (just 1 oil is needed), and a whole lot more reliable than the previous POS versions.

Anyway, it is styled after their 1951 model Bullet. Mine will be in black. The red unit below was the demo I rode for 40 miles. Yeah, thumpers rule!

And I'm still mad at Erik (who I met, btw) for cubing the Blast. That arrogance was ironic when he was shoved away from HD.

I had a lot of fun on my '00 Blast, the first one sold in Seattle. I almost wish I had never taken the test ride on the XB9S, the bike that later almost killed me.

If you Blasterds don't chase me away , I'll give occasional updates on the RE.

Cool you can tell us mow long between rebuilds - its an Enfield - you ride that puppy at 75 for a few hundred miles - well I just hope they updated that out of the motors problems, though not too long ago that problem often occurred on extended runs over 60mph.

Well, one telling fact is the TWO year unlimited mileage warranty. RE is pretty confident in this motor. They built it to be able to ride all day at 70.

I absolutely loved the ride on the demo. The ergo's fit me to a T. Like the Blast, it will smooth out as the miles accumulate.

The top speed is around 80mph, so I'm told. My intended riding will see it mostly at 50-60 with occasional freeway riding at 70. No hurries for this dude.

My beloved former Blast was comfortable at 55 to 65mph and would do more if asked. I did get it up to an indicated 90mph one foolish day, bent down over the tank.

Dang shame the Blast didn't evolve over time. I've been hoping for a Harley makeover of it, styling wise, but with pegs at the present position. The 492cc Harley Blast would have snared me.

When will it need a rebuild? Who knows, but I don't expect one any earlier than the Blast.

Here's another view of the demo I rode:

2010 Royal Enfield C5

Oh, for old time sake, here is my former beloved Blast, posed for a Mt. Rainier shot, about 20 miles before the left mirror fatigued and fell off (I still have the mirror, LOL!).

Mt. Rainier makes a good background.

Cool video! Thanks for sharing it. Do you follow the speed limit signs that either mandate or suggest how fast you should go around the corners?

Okay, I'll stop laughing, too. Seriously, is there a formula you use for figuring how fast you should enter the curves? One local rider told me "Go twice the suggested speed + 10" on a sport bike. I never did follow that one.

Gotta love the thumper music. Original muffler?

Prof: Congrats on your new bike! We do have the Blastphemy section for non-Buell rides though, so you can post all you want there : )
Suggested speed limit warning signs are funny. 2x+ 10mph could be considered good advice in some. Others 25mph means 25MPH!!! I think it depends on what guy worked what roads on what day.

Leading the SoCal "pack" at the last SLO ride I try to keep the speeds conservative, especially since the last person in line always gets the least (or mostly incorrect) feedback on turns from the rider in front (kinda like the game post office). All day the turns were +15mph, comfortably. 20mph meant 35 mph, 30=45, etc. Then we all head into a turn that read 30mph and it meant 30!!! I did my best to hike the speed down and warn the others. But sure enough further down the pack someone did a little off roading!!!

Gerheaderiko, thanks for the tip on the Blastphemy section. I'll post Royal Enfield stuff there in the future.

In 2001 I learned the hard way, while on the Blast, that the curvy roads aren't usually swept clean of gravel before my ride.

LOL - I did Morgan Territory road this weekend, have to watch for horse deposits, and on-coming cars - 1 lane 2 way road for over 6 miles - that road - while beautiful - is definitely risky business - and much easier to navigate on the Blast vs the CR.

Hello all . . . .my name is Brandon. Im new to this forum as in posting on it, but ive been reading and studying this forum for years. The info on here is like a Buell Blast text book, very awesome. The thing that made me post today is the post above about EZ and morgan territory. Ive been on there once with my blast when I first started riding. A little intimidating for sure with tight turns, one lane roads like you said and plenty of gravel to avoid. Gonna go out on Redwood road tomorrow morning around 830, maybe see one of you out there. . .
Looking foward to chatting with all of you in the future soon. . .great forum guys. . .heres my bike by the way

I have an 02 Blast. None of the turn signals work. I have changed the flasher and the handle bar switch. I have also checked the light bulb and all work. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I am also wanting a more comfortable seat. I have the stock seat. Could someone suggest a different seat?

I really appreciate any and all help.

I had a Corbin seat on my Blast.

I can't imagine riding a Blast for more than 20 minutes with the stock seat.

Welcome to the board Brandon! Since you've been lurking for a while I don't have to explain how great of a place this really is LoL The Blast is lookin good! I don't care for too many bikes in white, but yours is really well done. Question tho, what did you do for that elbow? It sorta looks like a Pro-Series, but doesn't have as tight of a curve...did you fab it up?

Also, howdy Jen, I know you're gunna like it here, BadWeb is a huge wealth of information (some more valuble than others haha). As for seats, Corbin makes extremely comfortable seats and alot of the board members will swear by them, I just can't fork over the cash to pad my hardened bum anymore than it already is (one of my rides is a rigid, so yea I'm not alot of help in the comfort-seating department).

Again, welcome guys, others will pipe up shortly

To Jenfran8 . . . Corbin seat for sure. I dont have one cause im spendin all my money on looks and performance, but would love to have one. Ive ridden 300 miles or so with the stock seat and had to stop every hour to get some feeling back in the rump.

To Kustomklassix its an elbow made by spectre. I went to pep boys and saw just about every angle elbow you could think of. I bought a 90 degree and the one you see in the pic. (cant remember the angle degree at the moment. I was hoping to buy one that didnt cause my knee to hit the air filter with my feet on the pegs or on the ground. Tried the 90 cause someone with a yellow blast on this forum has used this, for me it was just bad for feet on the pegs. . . not really even comfortable. Tried the one you see in the pic, riding it fits just under your leg, never touches my knee and never really notice it. But try to put my foot down it takes some working around the air filter. I figure most of the time will be with my feet on the pegs so im not worried about it.

I can say one thing though, its flippin loud!!! even at part throttle ear plugs are necessary. . .

Are you getting anything on the spedo. Is your green turn signal light on the spedo lighting at all when you turn your signals on. . .
does it flash?
does it stay on solid?

No lights come on anywhere for the signals.

The flasher was from auto zone.

The signals are LED.
