I have noticed that for the last two years.

Appleton and Bumpus, are the only ones I have used latly but the Sponsor threads on the Badweb have gone ignored by the sponsors.

I have been reduced to calling for parts on the phone....UGH!

In the old days you could post on the Appleton sponsor thread and Daves would somehow have the parts on your door step in three days. That is how it is supposed to work, but now...

EZ take a look at the sponsors page for parts. Most of them havent had postings in a long time, and most of the ones that do have recent postings seem to be going unanswered by the sponsors. I just need a primary inspection gasket, but since I have an 02 with an unupdated cover I need the new cover also. So I wanted to check with the sponsors first since my local dealers suck, but looks like I may have to go locally.

Hello,

I just bought a used 2006 Buell Blast P3.
In the attached picture, I'm afraid that there is missing a plate or a diaphragm covering the circled area.

Do you guys have the same thing or not please?

One other thing, I want to replace the 3 rusty bolts as circled in the second pic. Could anyone help me form where can I find them and their parts numbers please?

Thanks,

Abdul that is normal there. on the bolts see if you have a fastener place and take one and get stainless replacements. that is what i do when i replace nuts and bolts.

in the first pic, the blast doesn't use the accel pump and looks like that from the factory.
in the second pic, the 2 bolts for the air box can be found at a hardware store. the rusted part in the lower right corner can be sanded. it is the rod for the shifter.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has problems with the footpegs and other levers rattling. I bought my 04 blast about an year ago from a dealer who had it for the rider edge program. Predictably enough it was dropped and have some scars on plastic and the clutch lever. Nothing is bent though. So far I haven't had any trouble other than what looks to be the 'normal' blast shifting problems. The problem is that the foot pegs, the clutch and brake levers (hand and foot) seem to be loose and when I start it up it creates one godawfull rattle! I tried to tighten them up but they all seem tight. Would it be okay to use some rubber bushing or something to that extend in the space?

Leonard,
Mine has rattled from day one for me. I would not see any problems with using rubber to snug things up a bit on the pegs. I'd be careful on any control though to not get them so snug they do not operate properly.

Everything jiggles -- on the bike, too. It's part of the nature of a single. Once I figured out what was rattling and that it was just a noise and not a danger, I was fine with it.

Thanks John. I wouldn't want the brake to get stuck when I need it!
True Rainman..I had an Enfield Bullet 350 sometime back. That was a single, but less vibration and no rattles : )

My Blast "rattled like a tram" when I first got it. My solution was to use nylon washers on the clutch lever and footpegs to forestall the rattling.
I used nylon, rather than rubber as the nylon washers do not degrade w/heat, light, time etc'
My noise issues are much less now.

I didn't see a thread on this, so I'm posting it here: Does anybody know of a fuel tank lock for the Blast? I leave my Blast at the train station everyday and am paranoid that someday someone is going to drain it!

A locking fuel cap from a "tubeframe" Buell will fit the Blast. It takes a specific barrel type key to lock/unlock it.
Keep an eye out on E-bay or check your local HD dealer to see if they can find you one. I have a spare one but no key for it. So, it wouldn't be a whole lot of use to you!

Thing to remember also is that you can drain the Blast tank by taking a screwdriver to the fuel pipe clamp beside the petcock or just pull the fuel pipe off the carb'.
IMO this is a much better way to steal fuel than going through the gas cap 'cause this way the fuel comes straight down into the receptacle and doesn't require a siphon hose. (not that I have ever done such a thing!)
Just something to bear in mind before spending $$$ on a lockable gas cap.

I'm looking for an after market or used windscreen for my '02 Blast

Anyone know where I can get an adapter plate to attach my high velocity stack air cleaner(with a 90 degree elbow) to my carb? Is a "super boot" strong enough to support my carb without a brace?

Leonard: Protecting your gas may be a good thing. Depending on where you park, vandalism can take the form of dirt in your gas tank. Probably a better reason for a locking gas cap than to safeguard $8 in gas. Doesnt happen a lot, but it does happen.

GearheadErikO is right on target. Gas is cheap compared to vandalism.

BTW, if I were going to steal your gas, I'd pull the rubber tube off the petcock and drain it that way.

Just put a "Bio-Diesel" sticker on the side, and you should be safe! Or a Smith & Wesson sticker.

Good point! I make it a point to park in a high visibility spot at the train station..BTW sometimes It helps that there is a tricked out sportster with ape hanger bars and grenades attached to it parked next to me : ) Regardless I'm on the lookout for a gas lock now.
BTW, had to help a Suzuki GS 500 guy get his bike up today..dude made the mistake of changing his mind about the traffic light at the last minute and clutched the front brake a little too hard..went down right in front of me!..nothing broken though, only a red face : )

With the exception of the S2, I'm pretty sure that the "locking" gas cap on tubers is an illusion. Any barrel key will turn the lock. Probably done for ease at manufacturing. One less thing to keep track of. I may be wrong but all three of my tubers work this way. And they do interchange with the Blast cap no problem

Does the S2 have a different system?
There is one on ebay, but they don't include the key along with it!! Can you buy a barrel key from any hardware store?

If a generic barrel key will work don't buy a locking cap. PM me your address and I'll send you my extra one. That way you just have to source a key. The locking cap I have comes from an X1.

there wouldnt happen to be any recalls for the belt drive on an 05 blast would there? today the belt snapped while riding like grandma in 1st gear for no apparent reason... at 5.5k miles

just wondering because there are 3 blasts in the family, and this is the newest with the lowest miles, and it snapped while riding easy (like it always does)

mine however has the most miles and is the oldest with 10.5k miles and gets WOT everywhere it goes, and i beat on the gears when up shifting and especially while downshifting (no clutch used) and i just took mine off today to put on the 05 to get it home and after inspection, its in great shape still. slight cracking if you bend it the wrong way but looks like it will go a few thousand more miles
