The mirrors look kinda cool too, but with lower stalks they'd be WAY cool! | ||

The mirrors are too expensive for the breakage that happens too regularly - of course on a new bike that may be a different story, but I think the CRG's are as pricey as I want to go for a breakable item on my current Blasts. EZ | ||

It's too bad I'll have to wait for the last year of production to get a white 1125CR... But I'm thinking the same thing, it's gonna take one helluva Buell thumper to take my eye off the CR. Now if only I can convince the wife that its OK to make payments on something with only 2 wheels. | ||

Thats a funny thing to mention - Gentleman john started this thread - http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/379090.html?1216833213 and his first XB - lil Blackey - now wrecked - he's on his second - made Fuell and it looked like a twin copy of mine - lol - good ideas tend to be repeated and I am glad to see it perfected - if it wasn't too heavy - I'd see about putting it on a Blast - I suspect that it is rather weighty - I choose mine because they weigh practically nothing - maybe the weight of both stock blinkers together - probably less - lol - if the rider isn't going to loose weight, then the bike must philosophy has been my general rule of thumb - lol EZ | ||

You haven't met my wife.  She's not quick to forgive. She is why I'm not in bankruptcy now, so I run all big (and many small) purchases through her. If we can afford one, I'm sure I can sweet talk her into the next better one.  | ||

Fellow Blasters! The Ezblast parts doner bike engine made it to Michigan today! The Big Kid took time off work and we got it apart and started to put things back as they were before we started, and low and behold, the Big Kids girl friend showed up and the project is now on hold temporarily! A few pictures though.... A rolling chassis....the front half!  In with the old, out with the new....er...out with the old in with the new  I found a new place to bang on the frame to make things fit. At least on the 01 frame the lower allen head bolt is difficult to get to, so the lower portion of the frame where the shock passes through(shiny spot in the picture) gets a little taste of Swampys revenge!  | ||

One Blast is blown apart, another gets put back together... I ran out of time to get the rocker box gasket in, the not-so-old lady is back from vacation so I have to give the wifey-wagon back tomorrow, so I put her back together with just a thorough cleaning (like it'll last, LOL) and finally got around to adjusting the primary. I did it by ear and it works pretty well I think. Doesn't feel down on power and clutch engagement is ALOT better. I still may have to check on the "loose bolt" that may or may not exist inside the case as after I downshift into first, while I let the clutch out I still get a slight but creepy noise from the trans. BUT other than that I'm just waiting on parts from the dealer. Since I'm eating up pixels anyway, just to gloat a little, on the shake down run tonite, I decided that with a 50 mile commute tomorrow 70.1 miles was close enough to top off on fuel, and guess what! She took only .98 gallons of 91 octane to fill up!!! I'll let you guys do the hard math, but that puts me right about the advertised MPG!!! Thats with my heavy throttle hand, 2 80MPH runs on Las Vegas freeways a day, AND blowing oil out the front of the jug!!! I'm Stoked!!!  | ||

So, I'm making a left turn onto the highway. There's a merge lane, and I see a gap behind a Honda Pilot. As I'm accelerating, the driver apparently decided to let me in. So, I move over and go WOT. At this point, she changes her mind, and moved back over to where I was. I dropped the throttle and managed to get behind her before she ran me off into the grass. Oh--the Honda Pilot was silver, with New Jersey plates, UYV-31R. She was heading North on highway 1 toward Dover. Thats worse than them making obvious eye contact and then still trying to run you over! | ||

LOL - picture 3 buses lined up in a row, its raining lightly - the last bus driver waves cars over to pass, cars pass, I wait, the bus driver waves me to pass, then the middle bus pulls out, it was either hit the bus or lay her down, I layed her down - spraining my knee - got back on the bike grumbling about bus drivers and road her home. - I no longer trust other driver intentions and will always give my self space to be elsewhere in such cases - as they say - ride like they are out to get you - you may be right some day! Another funny thing happened. I went to Wawa to get a salad. As I'm turning to the parking lot, I reach down and turn off the petcock. About 30 seconds later, as I'm making my way to a parking space, it starts to backfire. Pffft! putt putt ... Pffft! putt putt ... Pffft! putt putt BANG! Carburetor smacks my leg! I pulled the clutch and coasted into a parking space and pushed the carburetor back into die aufladung. It ran fine after that. I suppose I should go ahead and turn the idle mix screw back out to where it was before I messed with it.   | ||

Speaking of the boot: I've 6,500 miles on Thumper and I'm cruising the road after a series of 100 mile days and I back off the throttle as a light turns red and I get the puff-puff-puff sound and a sudden puff of air against my right leg from around the airbox. Weird. Never happened before. Now it's happened twice. Is it the boot? Do I need to clean the airfilter (didn't do it this time. Lazy) Could it be that I've added too much oil on my last change (400 miles ago)? Oil reads near the top. How do I know when my boot bites it? | ||

Man, Saturday must've been "Narrowly Miss A Motorcyclist Day" and we didn't get the memo. I had a dude in a van look right at me as I'm overtaking him on the left, when with out signal, warning, blind spot check, nothing, he decides that he should occupy the same 32 cubic feet of space that I was. Luckily I was just cruising about 60-65ish in 5th as this was going on and was able to downshift and pin the throttle, I didn't look back, but I'm sure that he missed me by only inches. GOOD TIMES!!! Rainman, when in doubt, its the boot. Besides for 12 bucks its worth peace of mind | ||

The hose clamp was a little loose, so I tightened it. I changed the air filter as it was looking cruddy. It's running better, but still lean at an idle. I think the screw is about 2 turns out, maybe less. The popping noise makes it sound kind of tough.  I have my new boot here at work, so when I get a break, I'll be doing things in the parking lot ... | ||

Its easy to replace - even on a stocker - though it takes 10 minutes longer to do - just have a spare boot at home if you have a stocker , or a stubby screwdriver and boot with you if you have a custom intake - no biggie. EZ | ||

Stock air screw is 2 turns out, most go to 2 1/2 turns out, my recommended is between 2 2/3 to 3 turns out - lol EZ | ||

Rain - its totally easy - instructions in the TKV carb section and TKV trouble shooting section - I'd change out a stocker with the tranny oil change - rubber does get old. EZ | ||

HI folks. Newbie here.. Any body know how to rewire the blast so that the headlight will switch on when i want it to? I really dislike the battery drain whenever the key is in the ON position. This thing was stored for several years and somebody left the key on. As soon as i clean the gas tank ,petcock and carb out I will test ride it. Right now it will start and run for 20 to 30 seconds and die. Pretty sure the pilot jet is plugged with old gummy fuel.. Great site. I was able to answer all of my questions ( except the headlight) just by reading here for the past few days. Thanks Dave Lewis | ||

The boot can last a while, but then again, it can crack when you thought it would last a little longer, too. I'm on my second one at 34K. The first one was starting to crack on the inside, but hadn't failed yet. My third boot is in my bag that I strap onto the seat, along with a screwdriver for changing it.  It's a cheap enough part that you can't go wrong changing it every year or more often, depending on if you ride a whole lot or if you've had your piston go to pieces because of an undetected failure ... | ||
