I know Steve and Sue, owners of no-mar. I used to work about a mile from their shop. Great people. They put on my first viper strykes to demo their product for me at their grand opening of their new facility. Really cool products too.

Damn - beat me to it - they should ride great - with Swampy's shock tab mod - the question is will they last longer than the regular MT75 which is now the stock tire. They say they will on their site - being a new style, however, thumpers are known to eat rear tires - lol

It will be a week or 2 before they get in, and then i need to get some free time to mount them. the old oem ones are cracking kind of bad in the side wall so its time to replace them before they get really bad. need to replace the v stars tires also..... : (

I'm very interested to see how they are. I trust Pirellis!

FWIW: I e-mailed Pirelli about the Diablos late last year and not surprising this is what I got back

"Hello

We have found the best tires for the Blast are the MT75 tires and these are the only tested and approved tires for the bike.

US Pirelli Moto
www.us.pirellimoto.com
800 747-3554"

Not that this has stopped any of us from trying different tires : )

I think they are required to say that because Buell calls for them as OEM style and size. If they recommend anything else and u get in a wreck they may have some liability. It could also be true...

Yeah, its the answer I thought I'd get, I was just hoping for a little more. A phone call would perhaps have yielded more information as it wouldnt be written down!
Avon was definitely more forthcoming with information on the phone.

Erik,

I called Pirelli USA about trying to get the the ST66 in stock sizes. They were as helpful in person as by e-mail.

Erik,

I am looking to get another sets of wheels and was going to purchase the Pirelli Diablo tyres. The make a 110/70-16 'S-rated' front and a 140/70-16 'P-rated' for the rear. Strange that they do not make an 'S-rated' rear tyre. Is is OK to mix P and S rated tyres?

is it ok to cut that tap off on the swingarm insted of beating it in for clearance of oversize tires? doin suspension mods and over size tires at the same time : ) trying to reduce down time....

Not really a good idea because it weakens the mount. Isnt beating faster? Or are you going to take the swingarm off first?

i just beat the crap out of it with a ball pean hammer. got the Pirelli Diablo on finally, and they seem to fit fine. havent had a chance to go over 30 on em yet. did some 20-0 quick stops and they seem to grip better than my old ones.

So, new Blast's come with Pirelli's? Is that what the Buell dealer will sell me? I really don't want Dunlop again. I hear nothing but bad things about them from other bikers who ride H-D's. Not to mention, mine are close to being racing slicks.
I was looking at the Avon's and I am kind of concerned about putting a "scooter" tire on my bike.

Read the Avon and Pirelli threads above. There's a good discussion about scooter tires.

The Buell dealer should sell you a Pirelli, but if it came stock with a Dunlop, thats what you may get. Just ask for the Pirelli.
(HD/Buell dealers as a general caution never seem to know much about the Blast. Its best to do your homework before consulting them).
We race on Pirelli's and I dont know anyone racing an Avon, but both brands are good and you'll love either over the Dunlops.

Yeah, they are kinda blah when it comes to the Blast. I have gotten a lot of, "I don't know" and "probably" answers from the dealer. This is exactly the reason I started searching for a website and found this forum. Better than any dealer, any day.

When I bought my bike from the local Buell dealer it had a new Pirelli rear tire, and the original Dunlop front tire that had some cracking in the tread area...obviously in need of replacement.

A new Blast on the showroom floor had Pirelli's...when I asked about a new front Pirelli, I was told that Dunlop was all they could get...they said they had to source all tires thru Harley and Dunlop was all they could get...they had a really good price on the tire...but I wanted a Pirelli...I had to outsource the tire and have it mounted...

2 anyone that wants to get the avons in the stock sizes......dont....unless you like the skinny no meat to the tire look.

man im so disappointed with the way they look.

on the other hand the handling is great although i feel the bumps a little more than usual......i like them for price front $60 rear $65 (cyclegear.com) and so far so good....but not good on the eyes for me

hope this helps

Has anyone tried the irc sp-11 in the rear of the blast yet? They don't make one the size of our front tires, but this one is listed for front or rear use, it's available in 130/70-16 is Z speed rated (good luck reaching 149!!) and is a radial tire!!
Not sure what to match it up with, but very interesting none the less.

Matching radials and non radials is a bad idea. I'm surprised its for front or rear use. Very uncommon for any modern tire and makes me skeptical of its handling potential.

agreed about the mixing of radial and bias ply tires. However, the front/rear thing isn't as uncommon as all that. Allot of scooter tires are front/rear even the ones for my 250 scoot that goes 80. Anyway, I don't know if there is a radial for the front available, there isn't one from IRC anyway.
