I just got off the phone with Scott Z at Fletcher HD/Buell. He took a 2004 Blast in on consignment. It has Vance and Hines pipes on it and they are asking $2895.

Anyone here think I should go over and take a peak?

So, I ran over to Fletchers on the way home and Scott showed me the Blast. It's a one owner bike that is on consignment. There is just over 1700 miles on it. Seems that a lady owned it, laid it down and now is scared of it. If I had to guess, I'd say it's been sitting in her garage for a year or so just waiting on me.

It does have some issues from being on it's side but nothing major:

needs a new brake level. Right now it has a pretty good curve on it. To replace the level couldn't take more than 15 or 20 minutes.

needs both rear tail lights. The stand offs are both busted and are being held on with electrical tape. Looking at it, I'd say it's a 20 minute replacement job.

some cosmetic scraps on the right side of the bike.

As a comfort issue, I would replace the low profile seat with standard one. With the low profile, I keep sliding forward.

I got to fire it up in the parking lot. The V&H exhaust really does make it sound different. Me likie!

So I made an offer on it and see what happens.

Oh yeah... it's even black like I wanted.

I have extra brake levers, but it would be cheaper to ship a single box of parts together
Lever, and turn lights.

Just order them from one of our sponsers, its cheaper than Ebay!

Amen, Swampy. I recently saw two (2!) rear turn signals going for $46, 3 hours before the ebay auction ended. They're only $10 each NEW!!!
Caveat Emptor! There are good deals on ebay. Blast turn signals aren't one of them!

I priced out parts at the dealership. The brake lever retails for $26 and the tail light stand offs are $12 per. I can replace the seat with a standard profile for $117. To fix all of that, it looks like 20 minutes worth of labor. I think I can handle that...lol

Since I'm buying the bike from them, I'm gonna ask for a one time discount on the parts. Maybe I can get the jobber price instead of retail. That should save me 20% or 25% on the parts. If they agree to that, then I'll get the windshield too.

Hey Zane!!! As one old fart and fellow Blaster'd to another...If you buy the bike, I have a perfectly usable standard seat I will trade you for the low seat..I'd like to have a good basepan to one day use as the platform for a custom seat... Just ride over and get it...it's not very far from Safety Harbor to Winter Haven

Zane, I bought brake levers form Appleton for $4

A year or two ago Daves, when he was still there had a Blast special that he posted here in the Thumper forum.

Fast,

That sounds like a pretty good idea to me. The seat has a couple of white marks on it. When I bring it home I'll take a couple of photos for you. It doesn't have any tears or scuff marks that I saw.

Sounds like a win, win to me. We both get the seat we want and I have an excuse for a good ride. Safety Harbor to Winter Haven is about 65 or 70 miles. Just about right for a nice morning run.

I should know something today. the owner is asking $2895 and I offered $2000. She came back with $2500 and I offered $2300. Considering, I'll have to put a few bucks and time into it, I think that's fair. Not looking to rip any one off but don't want to pay a premium either. It may be a couple of weeks. I have to get on the list for a Rider's Edge course and want to put a few easy miles on it before I go Blasting across Florida...lol

Just as a dealer report, Scott at Fletchers in Clearwater has been great. Very personable and I feel like he's looking out for me.

Here's the latest. She came back with $2400. Even as poor as I am, just can't see sweatin' $100. On, $2400 that's like 4%. So I'll soon be the proud owner of the sweetest little blast is the Tampa Bay area.

Yeah... I've been doin' Snoopy's happy dance all afternoon!

So I call my 17 year old son to tell him the news and he say (and I quote)

"I've been thinking... I can't afford a Sportster right now so maybe I'll get a Blast too, ride it for a year and then get a Sportster. What do you think Dad?"

Sounds like a good plan to me, but I'm gonna have to clean out the garage if I need room to house 2 bikes....lol.
