yo EZ, I got one for you, my bikes falling on its face at high rpms, its almost like i'm hitting the rev limit too soon. I just switched from the pro series intake to the outerwears stack setup, thats the only thing that has changed and its falling flat like i'm hitting the rev limiter at WOT, im running the pro series exhaust and a 46/175 jet 2 1/2 turns out | ||

Intake leak - re-install, then add a thin coat of gasket sealant to dry side then install as if new. GT - JBOTDS! EZ  | ||

oh snap, I never thought of that, lol its possible, Ill have to give it another go around the block, I went ahead and ordered some fresh "boots" from turbotime tho, I doubt that's the problem but I'd like to change those at least every season. | ||

Pics of what - his adventure - lol - that is the link - his visit - you bet! - the SFMC - see the link - great folk! Did you see the pic of the custom header that Terry Built for LSR mounted on the Black bike - looks like its off a Vincent with its swooping single curve - nice power delivery with a built in torque cone to really help take off - hell - Buell should measure that puppy out and sell it as their aftermarket - I can't say enough good about it and its quiet! Who'd of thought?    I'm still dialing in the Force on the Red bike - it was awesome on the Black - I'm looking to make it as good on the Red - no biggie - I know its potential - and now the Red bike will sound like a Vincent - lol - Just something an Older guy said at Alices as I parked - made me smile. O Fellow Blasters, hear my cry...  OK, I'm not crying. In fact, I'm not even whining but Thumper is running so damn good that I only have one thing to complain about so I figured I'd try and fix it.  Thump is leaking what appears to be primary gear lube from around the clutch cable entrance into the primary case. It's slow, but steady and has been a small problem since I got the bike. They adjusted the primary chain some time back and it stopped for short time but came back. The transmission works fine and it doesn't seem to bother operation and it's not THAT big of a leak but the boss lady is getting tired of small spots of grease on the carport. Is this a quick fix or do I have to replace cables and gaskets and fluid, oh my? BTW: I'm mechanically retarded.  | ||

Yes! LOL! The clutch cable is below the level of the primary fluid so there has to be a tight connection between the cable housing and the case where it attaches. Check to see if the cable is loose in the housing, but be warned that where the cable threads into the case is fragile and will break. So I would try and loosen the cable in the housing first to see if that is loose. If it is tighten it and consider it good. If it is tight look carefully to the raised boss that the cable threads into for a crack. Then look to see if the plastic cable housing is cracked around the ferrul that threads into the housing. OK, now one of you administrators move this all to the KV in the appropriate place. | ||

I have an 04 Blast. The frame is bent. I was able to have it welded, but it still burns/leaks oil a lot. Would I be able to sell this bike and if so, how much would I lose with it in this condition? Thanks in advance for your advice and input! Beck | ||

sounds like it's totaled. insurance companies total bent framed bikes every time. | ||

Beck, sorry to hear about your Blast. Frames new are about $450.Used $100 or even less. The engine is the most valuable part of your bike, so if its good, and you part it out, you may be able to get a $1000 out of your bike (provided all other parts are decent. With a frame that bent I wonder about the condition of the rest of the bike). I wouldnt expect anything more than a $1000, to the right person (people), whole or parted out, if the rest of the bike is in good condition. Remember, the engine is the most valuable part, so dont just give it away. It will net at least half of what you can expect to get. The title is also worth money whether it goes with the engine or frame. Some (all?) states title by frame numbers, but since its trashed it could also go with the engine for a custom bike. Thanks for the info. The engine is still good. I bought the bike in this condition. Had to replace a fork. Then it started spewing oil. Found the leak under the gas tank on the bottom side of the frame. Pure luck and a genius welder at least has me still ridin : ) Thanks again! Beck | ||

Kmbuell I think that I can round that up. I'm pretty sure it was the right side. As soon as I get a moment to scout around, I'll let you know for sure. It's all integrated with the busted up m2 parts all piled up in the same place. If my shaky memory is functioning at the moment, I think it was in good shape, but the bent tube wouldn't come out, but I didn't really try too hard. Hope I didn't destroy it, it did make me mad. How about my '03 XB9S shown below after repair last month: new frame, swingarm, front and back wheels, airbox cover, handlebars, + assorted bits and pieces. Why it wasn't totaled I don't know. Sure looks new! The Seattle Seahawks motif helmet was extra...  | ||

wow prof! that is rare, usually the labor alone involved with frame swaps exceeds 75% of value which is grounds for total. do you know what the repair estimate was? | ||

The repair cost was over $4500. I'd be lucky to sell it for that right now. | ||

Matty, I sure could use a hint as to where you picked that up for $200 I could use a spare engine, to keep the Big Kid on two wheels. I still have to have the wrist pin busing replaced on the Big Kids Blast, Edv, a Bueller in Michigan, has a "Real" shop and the "proper" tools and has offered to help me out on installing and reaming the busing, but I really think starting from scratch will help ward off a lot of Dancing around the Oak tree nekkid, which is probably a good thing seeing the weather is getting cooler. |
