I just changed out an Avon AM63 in 140/70/16 on the rear of the Little Kids Blast.
We got 4000 miles on it plus one Burnout Contest last night! No he didn't win, he was competing against cars, but it was fun anyways, he got a crowd roar when he pulled into the pit and one when he left.
Like I said, the way he rides it is not condusive to long tire life. I figure if I road it I could easily get 5000 out of it.

And a suggestion for the tire thread:
Maybe start headings under the tire section by tire brand?

So I just switched to the Pirelli MT75's about 400 miles ago. Definate improvement over the stock crap Dunlop tires. For those of you who switched to the Avon Viper Stryke tires with the rear tire size being larger is there any issues with clearance for those of us who have the rear fender? Is there are significant enough difference with the compound of the Avon to justify swapping my Pirelli's out at this time?

waste your Pirelli's first (they won't last long anyway) then switch to the AM63's. the only clearance issue is with the shock mount tab and a hammer fixxes that

Concur! Pirelli is stickier, so it would be good for you to be able to make a comparison of the two. Skinny and sticky or wider and slightly harder?

I just wore out an Avon rear with 6,758 miles, it started showing the thread and steel.....I just put the Pirelli on. I wonder how many miles I will get on this brand.

6758 miles on a rear wow I barely get that for a front but I would be on the rim if I tried that on a rear. I'm over 2500 on my AM63 right now and though it looks worn it still has plenty of life left in it. I'd be stoked for 4K but in truth anything over 3K is fine by me

I've gotten nearly 4500 miles on my rear Avon. I just ordered a new set of Roadriders to replace the rear AND the front. I'm still running the original Dunlop on there and I'm pushing 10,000 miles.

Sking - which Avon? - I don't think the Pirelli is stickier than the Avon when the Avon is warmed up - then they rate about the same.

BuellKat: You'll probably get a little better than half that with the Pirelli. It will be nice to hear of your observations between the 2 tires.

EZ- I wont argue that. Until somebody starts racing the Avons, I wont really know which is better.
I do like sticky right from the gate, but the lure of the wider avon is very tempting (even if it is P rated). Wider really makes the Blast feel much less twitchy.

I'm running the AM52, of course in the stock size. I've still got a little bit of wear left on the rear, but it's pushing it...I think. I don't like 'em to get too bald! I tried the Pirellis before the Avon and got around 3000 miles worth of use.

I am not happy to hear about the lack thereof on the mileage wear on the Pirelli. Oh well, I will just have to "ride" and see how much I get out of it.

My MT75's were bald at 1900 miles, probably because about a third of those were 2 up.

Called Pirelli about importing the touring ST66 tire in Blast sizes and they said "No" to that.

I just got my AM26s today. The place I ordered them from messed up and sent me a 100/90-16 for the front. Has anyone run this size tire on the front or should I return it and get the 100/80-16?

The 100/90-16 works just fine. In fact it feels better to me than the 100/80.

Has any one out there tried Duro tires? A guy at work has some on his Kaw. He's got right at 10k on them. He told me that this is the tire that I need. He's a guy that knows everything about everything so I thought I'd ask someone that really knows.
I found a rear tire size that may work. It's a HF296C 130/90H-16.
I've worn out my Avon 52s in less than 3k and I have ordered the 63s. I'm just wondering what to order next time.

The Avon 63 in the larger size will get you over 4000 miles of tread wear.

You will be pleased how much better the AM63 handles.

The AM26, though I have not used them yet, according to the post at the top of the page wears great, but cost almost twice as much as the AM63

My front 63 (110/70) came today. I believe it is going to great when it is on. I'm glad you guys have tried them because it is so big I would never have thought it would fit. My back tire is on backorder. I hope it gets here soon because I have gotten excited after seeing the front tire and I'm riding on cords.
Thanks for the info.

When you put the tires on you really need two people to keep the opposite side of the tire in the rim center for clearance to get the other side over the rim lip. That way you are not prying on it to get it over the rim. They almost go on by hand if everything is in the correct position.

Jugallo94, I was wondering why the rear has not showed up yet. Check at some of the other suppliers.

How is the new job going? I was at court in Romulus yesterday and then worked in Ecorse at Outer Drive and Jefferson.

My rear tire was waiting on me when I got home Thursday night. I put the front and rear on just in time for the weekend. It's the best $115.00 I've ever spent.
