LOL - getting a frame and swing arm from an XB in a few weeks - what other parts will I need if I make the red bike the donner for the eng. and electrical, I figure I could go with a XB chain conversion kit solving that dillema, rear subframe, seat, rear shock and wheel and tire - could the Blast rear brake be adapted to work - since they are the same - front brakes, forks, trees - XBS, and wheel, f. fender, and airbox cover and airbox floor - jeez - I guess I'd better get an XBS parts manual, and XBS Service manual as well - lol - this will be an interesting project! the XB frame and swingarm is almost 50lbs lighter than the Blast unit, and almost all the stuff needed for the twin is not needed for the single - figure it will come in at under 300lbs wet! That should equal a serious formula for fun!

Ebay will be my friend, however, manuals will be more so - some parts will be new, some custom, definitely used from the donor as well - the whole wiring harness, etc. - I was thinking the Black fender and air box cover and air box base to mount all the electrical, the rear engine mount will be tricky and I guess I have to elongate the brackets hole (which side?)to fit the XBs mounting - rear-sets (though the brake side spacers will probably need to be a bit longer - lol - and bars and mirrors will go to the XB and a black version of the current lighting up front and rear - lol - axle sliders and frame pucks of course - this will make it one lite bike.

Ezblast:

What is this "Euro" BUELLschitte ???

Final drive XB9/XB12 27/65 !!!

If you engine will not pull that gearing
go to a aftermarket motor sprocket with less teeth(stock is 34T) ...

IMHO it will pull that final drive 27/65
with no problem !!!

I think the Euro pully is a bit closer ratio.

Go to BUELL.com and check OTHER COUNTRYS, you will find that the XB models carry the same gearing WORLD WIDE ...

Only on the TUBE FRAME Models did they have the "EURO GEARING" !!!

I've been thinking the same thing for my 'bolt as well, Brian. I havn't ridden a Thruxton, but I sat on one at a dealer and I was surprised at how similar the ergos were to a Firebolt. I'd REALLY like to build a Brit style Blast, though, with spoked rims, British Racing Green paint and clip-ons, (although I'd probably stop short before I committed to 19" Avons and an Amal leaker). A few weeks back, there was a Champion framed Blast flat tracker on Ebay, and it was really sweet, too!

Hi all, I just joined this forum b/c firstly I am a huge fan of buell's styling (oh delicious cityx!) but mainly b/c I saw this idea for the blast engine in an xb frame to create a sort of ultimate beginner/commuter bike. I was just wondering if any progress was ever made on it.

I'm down to 9 major parts before the transformation can begin.

Just wondering. Would it be easier to remove the rear jug from an XB?

No - the twin is like 50 lbs heavier due to accessories needed to support the engine.
