Anyone have a p/n for the pulley bolts? Looks like my pulley will need to come off to get the rear tire on... |

So what is the concensus, do I drive 30 miles to the HD/Buell dealer to get replacement bolts (AND washers according to the manual) or do I just re-use the ones I have? |

Re-use the ones you've got. If you're really squeamish (or others disagree), mail order the bolts and when they arrive at your doorstep, replace them. Either way its hardly worth the time to drive out to the dealer for $8 worth of bolts (that they probably wont have).
You do have Loctite, right? |

Yeah, got plenty of loctite! I could see if it was some crazy torque we were talking about to make them throw-away bolts, but 20 ft.-lbs. of torque? Hardly enough to stretch any metal (unless it was pot metal, don't think the bolts are made out of that!) |

By the way, there is no reason to take off the pulley to replace the rear tire. |

as for rear tires...
how many miles should one of there tires last?
yes it is a pirelli mt 75.
only a couple months old and wear bars showing.
plenty of tread on the sides. alas i have been using this bike to get to and fro for everything. so lots of up-right riding.
and at 2bills a tire (mounted).
also what is it that is so special that only a hd dealer can do these tires/rims?

If you bought the Cycle Hill Motorcycle tire changer, after 4 tire changes you just paid for it.
Any bike shop can mount the tires. Motorcycle superstore has the front tire for $58.99 and rear for $69.99 (order over $100 gets free shipping).
You should get about a 2 front to 1 rear tire ratio. |

I just got a Diablo from MSS for like $84 shipped. Had a local Kawi dealer mount it for $28.
CycleGear had the same tire for ~$95 with free mount/balance (found out after the fact). |

WoW! $200! No wonder you're disappointed. There's nothing at all special about the rims, except they're 'mags'. It can be done with tire irons. You'll get about 3000 miles out of them if you're hard on them. 3500 is about normal. Some have gotten more. Some much less (animals!). Check the tire section for longer wearing tires (whatever Maggie uses is good).
The MT75 is the stickiest best handling stock size tire for the Blast. It is also the cheapest (or close to it) in price. |

OUCH just looked at the redline stuff. it would be three bills just to do the cheap, set up.
but yes in the long run it would save cash.

but no matter they are back ordered till march. need tire now.
not going back to the hd stealer-ship. |

There are tons of threads on changing your own tires.
Just do it yourself!
The toughest thing to do is getting the bead to break, but I have pictures posted somewhere on here how to set up a couple of 2X4s to do that.
Putting the tire on is really simple if you take some tie wraps and zip the tire beads together before putting it on the rim, no need to even use tire irons!
Just do it yourself. |

Harbor Fright is a lot cheaper, especially if you wait for the sale and use a coupon.
If your bearings spin freely, you dont need a special stand to balance tires either. |

Harbor Freight has a really nice wheel balancer for around $30. That and some stick on wheel weights and you are good to 150MPH!
Or...just bring it to my house and I will do it for the company... |

i would take swampy up on his offer...but.... i am in Ca.
i do not mind the cold we have here, but the weather between there and here..
and the drive out would require a new set of tires to be on the bike..and by the time i got home i would need a new set of tires.
kinda self defeating me thinks.
but what a ride it would be sac area of Ca to just short of the east coast. up by the lakes. mostly just super slab at 60-70 mph...pending snow, and winds, sleat, ice, and armed revolt.
