I like the bike Blake...its just not a bike I can buy. Too small for me...not enough HP, and it just will not run with the roads and styles of bikes and riders I find myself with these days. I break my S1W as often as not trying to make it do something it is not. Keen dissapointment for me in the 04 motor...I'll just have to wait for the 04 Honda Blackbird now is all. |

*Rodman, *You ever ride a Jap repliracer? Yes,but since when is okay to compare the ergo's to a Jap repliracer and fight off every other comparison to that catagory of bikes? Oh,and I feel cramped on those as well. Buell, suppose to be different in every sense. I am 6'2" and the "r" feels really compact to me. I honestly haven't test "sitted" an "s" though, maybe they would be better. |

"Well, I'm glad I didn't wait for the "new bike" for '04. I'm happy with my 9R until they come out with something really different." <~~Cubby Amen, brother. I do, however, wonder if that 49mm throttle body would fit a 9R. I also want to know where the HELL they're getting 50/65mpg from...that's a HUGE difference in mpg from what '03 XBs see. New ECM mapping? Maybe they finally got it right. Of course, we did get screwed on the warranty. Ahh, well. Anyone wanna guess how much black bodywork will cost me? I feel seriously hosed...all black and red is what I'm painting my 9R. |

I'm still thinkin' 'bout that new warranty. At 2 years and *unlimited* miles, doesn't that about double the warranty of most other manufacturers? There are gonna be those who don't think the changes are enough. But from what I've read, the very first model year saw a dramatic, new, and reliable motorcycle. I don't think they needed to do any more than they did. Wanta sport tour... throw on a tank bag and some soft bags. Wanta follow the crazies on their straight roads going 180 mph... buy another bike. These bikes are awesome... wish I had some $$$$! |

2 years unlimited, 1203 motor, Magnesium look cases, wider mirrors on the R, full race kit and carbon pieces on the web site. Somebody been reading the internet web sites at Buell? Good stuff Buell. Congrats. Of course the mags will still despise the tranny and rate it at the bottom of all the comparos. I want one anyway. All I need is income to qualify for a loan. |

I'll be keeping the XB9S.. Can't wait to see some track and road test reviews..Can't wait to see a XB12 and XB9 comparison... The Gold/Amber color is terrible.. I'm glad I think it's to ugly to ride, I might have wanted to trade in other wise... |

Uh, today. As far as dealership receipt, haven't heard yet. Spidey, Daves, Others, any unopened crates on your receiving docks? (I know of at least one sales guy who's probably cracking open a fresh bottle of bourbon today.) edited by mikej on July 14, 2003 |

I heard from my people at the dealer show that we should see our first XB12's by the end of this month. I'll believe that when I see it. On a different note, I do like the red/blk/gold combo it's exactly like I painted my 1985 K100RS BMW. Having said that my XB9R in white looks cool as hell with all the "personal watercraft" inspired decals removed. |

Can you switch the motors? Put in the 1203 cc motor into the xb9r frame? From what I could see, it looks like the only differences are Engine, Exhaust, and Belt. I like my silver frame better.

The 24 month warranty is on all the '04 Buells. XB9's, XB12's, AND Blast. Dunno about retro. Craig Buell Cycle Center

The belt is wider (14mm I think) and stronger so you don't have to run the "enclosed" belt guard. I've noticed a lot of pictures of XB9's with this guard removed, you guys that have done this had any belt issues? I'd like to remove it all together from my 9R for the look I had on my S1. |

If the heads are the same, maybe it's just pistons, cylinders, throttle body, and firmware. Oh, and the new exhaust system. |

quote:XB12R: Bore x Stroke 3.500 x 3.812 in. (88.90 x 96.82 mm) XB9R: Bore x Stroke 3.500 x 3.125 in. (88.90 x 79.38 mm)
You'll/he'll be needing a crank and rods as well me thinks. |

Cylinders are likely the same. Crank is definitely different. Since CR stays 10:1 and stroke is longer, they had to either eliminate the dome or make the chamber bigger. My guess is a flat top piston. |

doesn't matter, I blew my wad on the 9s. probably cheaper to do a 1200 nallin on it. it would have been nice to start with that though(12s), and have it all under warranty..

The only thing I think I will have to have are some of those new WHITE Wheels for my white XB9R!! I kinda hoped they would offer black but the white is cool(they are on the website under accessories). I know you can paint/powdercoat any color but I HATE downtime! Besides maybe I'll put some trackday hoops on the old silver rims...... |
