washing dishes, being a janitor, working on farms, they can do it to.

Not to sound unsympathetic, but did any of those jobs REQUIRE you to take a drug test?

"Why not say you can't smoke either"

I forgot that one!

You are right!

We should test for nicotine too!

Same thing for contraception! Can we test for latex?

I don't want them having s*x on my dime!

We should test for nicotine too!

Health and Life insurance companies have been doing this for years. There are ways around everything.

All very noble.

Reality is I'd rather have addicts steal from me via a welfare cheque than have them rip off my garage when their benefit is cut off.

First, unemployment compensation is NOT a government handout. You must have been employed and your employer must contribute money to both the state and federal government, in order for you to file a claim and collect.

Secondly, drug testing is a farce. The only people that get caught by drug tests are those that dont give a flying f*** and the casual user. The hardcore users know all the tricks. I've seen it, repeatedly. Besides, what does drug testing someone today tell you about that person tomorrow? What does drug testing tell you about alcoholics? In both instances, NOTHING. Depending on your drug of choice and dosage, a drug can clear your system in as little as 24 hours. I have a solution. If you're a manager or a owner of a company and you believe an employee is high then send their ass home or fire them !!!! End of problem.

Drug testing for welfare recipients? Wonderful, except how does the government propose to reconcile that with the fact that drug addicts are CURRENTLY COUNSELED ON HOW TO OBTAIN DISABILITY, HOUSING ASSISTANCE AND WELFARE?? Sounds like a conflict of policy.

BINGO! Unemployment is something you EARN, not have handed to you. I suppose those that support this proposal would like for me to pay for my own service connected injuries with private insurance too? So... if I receive VA compensation for COMBAT injuries and smoke pot, I should have to pay out of pocket?

Why do they call it a claim? It is unemployment insurance. Hmm, insurance? So like if my car is stolen, I should be drug tested before my claim can be approved? If you were fired for drug use, you don't get none. If you are out of work because Smokescreen quit buying your' companies product, you get some, weather your amusing your head or not. If I hire a gardener to do some of my honey doos, I don't care if he/she is high.

Not unsympathetic to the thought of drug testing those receiving government largesse but it ain't gonn'a happen anytime soon. Those favoring this have A WHOLE LOT of missionary work to do.

Downright in favor of legalizing drugs PROVIDING we go the whole libertarian route and allow me to have the tools, both legal & mechanical, I think sufficient to secure my life & property.

But come to think of it if we were Libertarians we would not be having this discussion in the 1st place.

I've seen it, repeatedly.

Seen it...or done it? Just playin...but tests are easy to pass. The ones that know the game play it. National testing like what they are proposing is gonna screw he/she that decided, "What the hell, I havn't done this in forever." Then for whatever reason has to take the test and their life just went down the shitter.

Legalizing it would drop the county/city jails systems almost in half. When I sit and monitor the hang and bang court room at work, literally half the inmates were brought in on pot charges.

The world would be one hell of a calmer place, road rage would be at a minimal, and potato chip sales will sky rocket...lol.

Although alcohol is legal, your employer forbids you to drink at work. If caught, your probably fired. Make the same rules apply to sweet Miss Mary.

I just re-read that, I skipped over the unemployment part. I seen the food stamps and welfare and my eyes went red.

If they re-write that law and exclude unemployment I will stand by what I said. To include unemployment recipents with welfare and food stamp peeps is bulox...

I don't agree with the proposed law.

It's unfair.

Do the politicians have to get tested before they get taxpayer money? No? Enough said.

The subject of paying off the debt with a "sin tax" on recreational drugs? We already do. Seen tax stamps on tobacco & alcohol products? Do maryjawanna too & even our debt would soon evaporate. ( I'd keep Cocaine illegal to give the DEA/police something to do..... I could be wrong on that one )

"Cocaine is a hell of a drug, I'm Rick James bitch."..as seen on the Chapple show. Yeah, legalize coke and there wouldn't be any more fat chicks...

My warped rationality of it is. Put $60 in my pocket. I go to a bar and have mixed drinks all night. I literally piss that away buy the end of the night. And if I drive home I'm likely to kill myself or someone else. But, if I stay home, I can buy a case of beer, a quarter sack and possible have enough dough left over for a taco bell night cap all while surfing BadWeb.

Let me get this straight, Your on unemployment. Payed for at least in part by your previous employer and your own taxes out of your check. You get tested and are smoking the ganja. Your now off unemployment. Cool now you are eligable for welfare, that gets paid for by who?...

I skipped over the unemployment part

i believe i missed that too. that is more of a grey area for me. if you were layed off or your work closed thats different than being lazy and not doing a damn thing for a long time.

but the rest im still up for. if your getting money for food and such, and you are buying alcohol/drugs with your other money, why not just quit giving you money so you have to buy food with your own money. if you decide to buy alcohol/
drugs instead of food then thats great for you and its your choice to starve. you can decide for yourself whats more important

I've been saying this for a LONG time, I take a piss test to get a job and get random drug tests at work. I feel that whomever receives government assistance in the form of welfare should be tested as well. The past year has been the first time in 9 years I haven't worked 2 jobs. If I can find 2 jobs, 3 at one point, anyone can get 1 job.

Unemployment is different... I hated mooching off the tax payers when I got laid off twice in one day.

in 30 to 60 days, what substance isnt back out of your system ?

this sounds heavy in administrative costs, weak in enforcement, and ineffective in practice.

why not just make them blow or pee test every week when they pick up their check? sure that will stop it.

there are bigger fish to fry, they still need to get all the bail outs stopped and that money back, to the tune of billions of dollars. 'notwithmytaxdollars' its ill placed rage.

Yes, janitorial (Walmart and commercial office buildings) and pretty much every restaraunt I've worked out, the chains anyways.

I totally agree with testing senators, bet there would be a whole lot flunking for "nose candy" : )

Why shouln't they have to take some kind of test. Maybe do random testing and if they fail no for free living for them. Here is my problem the company I work for this is how everything works. Before you get hired I have H.R send them to do drug test ( piss & hair ) yes hair. If there blad well there is only two other places with longer hair. Use your administration. But you will give hair or I will not hire you. Blow in a machine make sure you haven't been drinking. Get a physical and back round check. Make steel for nuclear program and I have to follow there rules to. Now you get hired and I'll work them 8's 10's six or seven days aweek. Not a slave driver just do your job and I'll bend over backwards for any of my guys. And they get paid well for what they do. Now yesterday I got a call from owner & president of company and they want me to lay off 50 to 75 guys.I talked them into only 40. Now they collect unemployment about half of what they made. But they worked there ass's of to even get that unemployment. Now when they were working not being with there family. We have these free loading bums that sit at home do drugs, rape the system for every penny they can. so me, my guys, you, and every person that works. My other problem is the more kids they pop out. The more they get what a load of sh!t. Well im done ranting now.

What ever happened to freedom in this country?
Mandatory drug testing means I'm considered guilty until I prove I'm innocent by pissing in a cup. That's just f*cking wrong.
And now that it's allowed, to cure "abuses" in the system, what's to stop it from spreading out into other areas?
Very soon, now everything not compulsory will be forbidden.
The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave? Ha! It's becoming the the Land of the Fee and the Home of the Slave. And we're doing it to ourselves.

Freedom is not living off the government and other people around you. If you have to live off the system you should live off their rules. I also think they should make woman who recieve welfare for their kids take mandatory birth control! I can't stand seeing the mom with 5 kids and a house better then mine living off the system and us.
