I was speaking with an upstate H-D/Buell dealer that also carries a couple of Euro brands. He is planning on opening a new store with just the metric sports. With that, it seems he got the OK to set up his Buell division in the new store. As much as I love my H-D, it certainly would be refreshing to see Buell sharing the floor with bikes to the likes of Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Aprilla and others. H-D customers have no interest in our bikes, but those looking at the metric sports may just take a second look at Buell, maybe test ride one and then make the right decision.

As soon as I get other info of the new store I will certainly pass it on.

More power to him!
I wish him the best of luck!
Maybe this will lead to more Quality shops carrying the Buell brand.

Makes sense to me. Also seems the ideal place to sell the other brands under the "Harley" umbrella i.e. MV Agusta/Cagiva.

Had an interesting conversation with a "salesman" when two of my brothers and I stopped by the HD dealer in Kingman, AZ this week. Kingman sells HD and Honda under the same roof. I asked him why they dropped their Buell line. He said "This is mostly cruiser country, but if Erik Buell had let them put the letters HD anywhere on the bike we could have sold lots of them!"
Someday he may find there is a difference between marketing performance motorcycles and marketing the "HD Lifestyle". On the other hand maybe I'm being too optimistic.

This would be good for everyone except the Harley dealers that sell Buell. If their were dealerships that sold Buell and other sport bikes why would anyone buy from a Harley shop anymore?
