Nice looking ride John! Looks like you have some modern wheels and tires on it-did you do any suspension work on it? Looks like the kind of fun that would get me in trouble.

lets just say im sure it will run down and eat plenty of modern sports cars...

im sure he will elaborate on whats all hiding under there

i was going to do my 84 shortbox s10 up like the bike. then i blew the motor in it about a year ago and it has sat since. then someone backed into the front of my blazer and now the truck is minus front sheet metal.

383 has a distributor at the front, looks like a mopar smallblock to me.
I've seen a company advertising in the US, that do stroker kits to pull 360s out to around 400 cubes, which ain't bad for a sb.
I'd love to slot one into my truck but I'd need to spend a WHOLE lot of dosh to upgrade the suspension & brakes.
The cart springs & drums I've got are barely capable of handling the mildly tweaked 318 that's in there.
I've also been lusting for a set of TorqThrust D's for mine but those rims look neat, are they steel?

I read an article in a mag about 10 years ago where they bored and stroked a 318 out to 400+ci.
I like Morepowers.

Oh, Is that a Paxton?

Sorry to leave you guys in suspense. I thought the thread got lost and just emailed Tim directly.

So it seems like alot of you are wondering about the particulars.

It's a 70 'cuda, 408 cu. in (high nickel early 360 block), Pro-Charger D1-SC self contained blower, the tranny is a Tremec 5 speed beefed up to handle the torque.
The suspension is a coil over front (OEM is a torsion bar design) with rack an pinion steering and BIG sway bar. The rear is a triangulated 4 bar design hooked up to a Dana 60 with 3.55 gears.
The brakes are Wilwood 12.9" rotors and Wilwood Dynalite calipers at all four corners. The old vacuum style brake booster is replaced by a Hydroboost unit (uses power steering pump and fluid to boost the brakes). This will put you through the windshield.
The wheels had to be at least 17" to clear the brakes and I didn't have the money to get my 18" light weight wheels and these heavy ones were only $5X.00. They're heavy and too heavy for the local road course but they were cheap. Before I do any track days I will have to get lighter wheels.
The new wheels will be around 18-23 lbs. a piece depending on style and brand. Reduced rotational mass is super important therefore expensive. LOL

This isn't the final product. I still have a vision for the car. The wheels will still be black. The car though will be a tribute to the Trans Am 'cudas that raced in SCCA competition in '70-'72. They were called AAR cudas and had special stripes, hood, and wing.
The car, to me is a Street Fighter now. No radio, carpet, console, anything that doesnt make it go fast, corner hard, or stop on a dime.
The car is like this for now but hopefully in the next year and a half I can have it looking like my final vision. OD green is fun for now though and it definately beets the multiple colors it was.

As far as performance, it has already eaten a 2004 'vette my buddy owns and left on a Porsche Boxter a co-worker owns. The guy bought it because he's in a mid life thing and doesn't have experience driving a Porsche or anything of the sort probably but I'm certain a Boxter aint shi+ anyway.

I wrecked my 'bolt during the suspension phase of the car build and miss it alot but I'm devoting everything to the car now and will get another 'bolt when I get done with paint. I try to stay true to the function before form theme on the car just like Eric does with bikes.
Buell has my heart but the 'cudas got my wallet.

BTW, good eye on the small block. All Mopar big blocks (383, 400, 440, and all Hemis, 426, 413.....) have the distributer in front. All small blocks in the rear.
The car was originally a 383 4 speed Dana car but small blocks can potentially have better power to weight and improve the total cars front/rear weight ratio. StreetFighters!

My buddy did the same thing with this Ex State Trooper Mustang Coupe. Its ran maybe twice a year at Road America and thats it. It fast though.... real fast. 750 plus HP car on a dyno.

I'm diggin the Mustang.

I am somewhat of a Mustang hater because you see so many and often they're clapped out cars that people drive stupid in on the streets. It's an affordable car that alot of people buy for their first "fast car". Kinda like Squids.

I guess it is not the Mustang I hate after all because I do appreciate seeing nicely done Mustangs. And I do like that road racer. Does he run in Mustang Challenge?

I would like to find a car that I could make into a Club racer like that. From what I hear, Spec Miata class is super fun. All the cars are the same so it is driver against driver, like the Red Bull 250cc class.

I think I would do more than two Road Atlanta's if I were a little closer.
We have No Problems over in Louisiana I'm going to frequent but being it is a 'cuda and I have ALOT invested I won't beat on it fully like I would a Club car.

All it needs is a couple of crates of shine in the back.

Nice vids John, I notice you still have a mechanical fan, There's room between the grill & the rad for an electric, coupla horses there.

By the way my mrs hates you, she just found me surfing mopar performance parts sites & knows the signs.

I had an electric fan set up but I sent it back because I didn't like the look of how it was going to have to be mounted. I'll have to keep shopping.
My main concern is getting my fingers in there.........CHOP.

John,

Actually the car was built to run in a legal Canon ball type race in Nevada. That he never got the chance because in order to get in someone has to drop out in that particular class. Its roadrace specific.... not street legal. The chassis is all tube. The rear end is road race specific as well. Not real familiar with the type. It has a strut that actually come through the floor in the rear and attaches to the cage. The tranny is 6 speed. The engine was a 2003 Robert Yates retired Nascar engine that he rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted. It has a intake and Fuel system that he built and designed himself. Actually nobady did anything on this car. Its all done by him. The car will do exceed 200 mph all day long. I wish I had more photo's. I used to and lost them. It's the fastest anything I've ever been in or on. To answer your question though it run's in a like a unlimited mod class. He has video passing SC Cobra's up the uphill at Road America. That car of yours though looks totally slick.
