“I am a skeptic…Global warming has become a new religion.” - Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever.

More like a for-profit religion.

Hmmm...., Al Gore invented the Internet then he championed Global Warming causes. I think I am seeing a trend here....

Al Gore should have gotten the Entrepreneur of the year award instead of the Nobel Peace prize.

There is also a scientist for every one of those 650 with a contrary view.

Whether it is warming or not or what is causing it I have no idea - like the ESPN football guys - what would be good to take from the scenario is that we have to stop polluting the atmosphere.

Down here you can't go outside for more than 10 minutes without sunscreen - and that is partly because of the shit we pump into the sky.

More motorcycles (particularly Buells) is a great first step.

If global warming is a farce, is there anything wrong with NOT spewing toxic elements into the atmosphere. I don't see how being concerned about what we breath as being a bad thing.

I do think there are side effects to the pollution we send into the atmosphere, I'm just not certain the seas will rise the way they say so. Why, because I remember an exercise I participated in in a high school physics class. As I remember it when we put ice into a glass of water the water level rose, as the ice melted the water level dropped. Now I know that the south pole has a land mass under it, so the ice is not displacing the oceans levels. However I also remember that the north pole is mostly an ice cap floating in the oceans.

So wouldn't the melting of one offset the melting of the other with limited total net gain or lose.

Just a thought.

Actually, an ice cube in a glass leaves the water at the same level as it melts. Try it. Water expands when froze.

If Antarctica & Greenland melted, ( just counting the ice parked above sea level) the seas would rise... a bunch. That would take more energy than every atom bomb ever made, more hot air than Washington puts out in a week, or a mirror in orbit the size of New Jersey. Don't sweat it.

Polluting the environment is not wise. One reason doctors like to induce labor in pregnancies that go on too long is that eventually the little guys kidneys start to function. Then they die in their own waste products in the womb. Not nice.

We have cleaned up a lot of the crap from the Industrial Revolution, and have a lot more to do. Contrast New York with China, where they have serious issues or the old Soviet Union where they killed a Sea. Dead. Points for anyone who can name it.

So, I'm all for conservation, clean safe Nuclear energy, and cars that get 100mpg.... if I can ever buy one.

The Global Warming Scam, however, is a con from day one, and I am a proud heretic.

Some here on this board even freaked out about my heresy when I brought the subject up in a political thread...... Demonstrating that it is Faith, not Science driving the movement. There is a huge amount of money & power in being able to manipulate people into giving you their money & freedoms in the name of "saving the world from a horrible crisis that will kill the children". Ask the a--holes that make money on the Global Warming Scam.... Like Al Gore.

XBDuck... no argument that pollution is bad and should be minimized. Also no question that fossil fuels are a limited resource, and must be carefully leveraged and conserved to get us safely to a "post fossil fuel" era (which may be 10,000 years away).

The question is if carbon dioxide is "pollution". Try not to exhale when you answer ; ). And if you choose to eliminate all carbon dioxide, all plant life is going to have a problem...
