Nice looking with low miles. Wish I had some more room and funds...

We all wish that! I've saved 6 tubers in the last 3 years...so I definitely wish that!

One thing's for sure though...unless your name is Erik or Court I don't think I'd be giving test rides on a bike as special as this.

Clean and unmolested. It'll be a shame if it gets chopped.

I only know enough to be dangerous here, so take this as a word of caution and not gospel. It seems like Cali bikes weren't quite on the same serial number basis as the rest of the world. Serial #1 for Cali?
Still, it's a better bike than what I chose to save!

It is not SERIAL NUBMER 1.

If it one of the FIRST Buells made during the time Buell was associated with Harley-Davidson.

All S2's were the FIRST Buell made . . the S1 was the second

Yep - Couldn't be anything like Buell #1 - however - poster could be Vietnamese and think it's a really good bike - my olde vietnamese neighbor used to call me "#1" all the time- which is much better than being "#2".

S2s are uncommon in California - because they were not available for months - almost a year after they were shipped to the 49 states - thanks to California Emissions standards. They finally for approved somehow with the QwikSilver Carb, and we started seeing them show up.

I had Buell fever even back then, and vividly remember when I got to see one of the first S2s in the state at Modesto HD - I drove all the way out there, took it out for a test ride, and came very close to buying it, but couldn't make the mental leap to the $12,000 price being asked.

Yeah, the $12k was a lot...but when you considered hand-made frames, hand-laid fiberglass bodywork, top-notch components (ROMA forks, Marchesini wheels, etc)...its easy to see why.

I'll never forget HC'08. I'm out in the parking lot, chatting with some Buellers and Badwebbers, getting my and Frank's bikes lined up for a nice dusk photograph (still have those photos, Tony - thanks!!), and a grizzled dude walks up. "That your S2? I made your frame."

THAT really drove it home for me. I'm standing there talking to "the guy" whose hands personally built the frame under my motorcycle.

Hey Rat...Nice bike. In your profile you have lowers, but not in this pic. You take 'em off? or did you add 'em later?

And please tell me about that frame brace..!

Thanks, Dave

My lowers are quick release (wing nuts).

Frame brace is an old Banke that was on it when I bought the bike.

>>> because they were not available for months - almost a year after they were shipped to the 49 states - thanks to California Emissions standards.

Actually . . . that's only KINDA accurate . . . the reason the 1995 S2 was late to the game had more to do with a silly admin error or someone leaving a piece of paperwork on the wrong place and forgetting it.

Arrrrghhhh.

Thanks Court...From the consumer side, it was always - we just couldn't get them in California, and the assumption was that it was emissions. The carb change for California models confirmed it in my mind.

The Craigslist ad from Airbozo's original posting has been deleted by its author.

Wonder if the bike sold...
