ok maybe a dumb question, but besides riding around till i run out, what is the best method of draining the gas out of my 2000 S3.

I assume it has a fuel pump (my 98 is Carb and petdcock). You can use a syphon, which are hit or miss, or take the tank off and jump a 12v battery directly to the fuel pump and let it drain that way. I use the latter on the bikes I work on at work.

Or you could run a hose from the fuel filter (after letting it sit so there is no pressure) to your gas can and turn the key on.

I had the fuel tank off the X1 for some reason that I can't remember and decided to raid the fuel to wash some parts;I had to removed the fuel cap fitting then upend the whole thing over a plastic bucket.Much to my surprise there was a whole lot of rubbish in there and about three cups of dirty looking water, my fuel cap O ring was kaput.

Gas is out, Pulled the hose powered up the pump, she empty in minutes. Thanks all, that was the way to go. Commence winter tear down!
