I've seen a few aftermarket tails for s1's but they all appear to be the same brand. Who makes them and where can I get one? Do they use the factory tail light, seat, and mounting? Anything about them worth noting? |

Check Air Tech. They make several different styles. |

The gp that's the one! Uses a stock seat, wonder about the pro series seat? Ant tail light, saw a bike on here not too long ago that was being parted out with one of these tails, wonder if he still has it? |

The one on Ebay is definitely NOT a carbon fibre R&R customising tail but a glassfibre copy. The R&R version was desigend to fit the M2 and convert it to an S1 lookalike. It would NOT fit onto an S1 without some work. It came with a whole kit of parts to convert the frame etc including a new saddle, and was a much higher quality piece than the part advertised on ebay. This is a genuine R&R part and you can see the carbon weave clearly without having to look underneath Tail lights and general tail shape are different and these came supplied with stainless steel licence plate holders. The RRC version has not been available now for around 3-4 years so would be very hard to find and cost a LOT more than the one on ebay right now.
However for a starting price of £10.50 you can't really go wrong. Just don't think you will get a genune R&R piece at the end of it |

I asked the seller for some more photos of the "R&R" one on EBay and got these: He says he bought it painted. |

I asked the seller for some more photos of the "R&R" one on EBay and got these: Despite the sticker I am still dubious about the authenticity of this seat unit being a genuine R&R item. The quality is nowhere near as good as the ones that we imported direct from R&R so it is either a fake or is a very very early pre production model. Even the shape of the rear end is subtly different to the ones that I saw a lot of when they were still making them. The biggest concern with this one though is that the R&R Customizing C200 seat was never made to fit the S1 model but was a conversion for M2 models to be able to fit a S1 lookalike tail. That EBay one looks like this one. The Ebay looks like it but I am 110% sure it isn't an RRC unit. The more I look at it the worse it gets The carbon weave on the ebay item is extremely rough (even on the underside)compared to genuine RRC pre preg carbon. Even the sticker underneath is wrong for them (the logo is usually black and red so this looks like a nasty photocopy!). I e-mailed the seller but he is convinced he is right depsite buying it second hand and already painted. The genuine RRC kit included a complete back end (including saddle and subframe mod) and ONLY fitted M2 models NEVER the S1. It cost the best part of £700 when it was available, which is another reason why the ebay one doesn't ring true I think that someone has bought a glassfibre Racing Motor/Speedofcolour/Franck parts S1 tail unit and made it look very much like an RRC tail, but it ain't the real thing in my opinion, and I've seen more than a few of the real ones |

Hi Trojan, the R&R tail was only for to M2 to make the look like a S1. The pic's from PASH was from the inside of the tail. Outside was perfect carbon fiber. look at the pic's. I made the work for a friend of my. The orig. set from R&R was included all screws and brackets what you need for the install. Started Saturday morning and you can ride at midday.Very easy to install the tail.

I have an Airtech superbike tail that I use for track use. It mounts like stock and only uses the standard 96-97 style seat. The fastener points need to be drilled. It comes with an undertail that requires drilling and minor fitting as well. It's a tough piece...handled a hard high side with scuffs and some small cracks. |

Italian, Ohlins no longer makes a shock for the S1. Any ideas where to find one? |

There's a manufacture in San Marino who should still carry a few of them and they sell them on eBay Italy for about 900 euro, which is close to $1300. Try to do a research on eBay Italy and let me know if you find anything. If not, get back to me in PM and I'll try to find one for you. But I'm warning you, you won't find it for cheap. |
