Ok,I spent most of the morning working on the bike.Replaced the intake seals, for some reason water and WD-40 did not detect the leak but some cheap Super Tech carb cleaner did.Put the bread box back together but the seals did not help much so I went back to the 45 slow jet and adjusted the mixture to 2 3/4 turns, after a quick test ride things have improved as far as the cough.I'm thinking about a V&H pipe slip-on seeing I have plenty of packing material on hand.Any tips on jetting for this pipe? Everything is still stock except the 45 and I still have the 195 main. My bike is a 02 model,I see American Sportbike has a exhaust hanger listed, will I need that as well to mount this muffler?

This photo from American Sport Bike's website, pn# 17036:

If you don't have the front exhaust hanger pictured your exhaust studs may have a higher chance of breaking. So yeah, you might want to consider replacing it for reliability's sake. Probably won't affect how well the bike runs in general, just whether it breaks or not...

I'm running a 45 and a 200 with my current pipe, same as I ran with my V & H previously.

Do you have stock paper air filter, or something like K&N ?

I wonder if the bracket is needed for the D&D or the Supertrapp, kinda steep in price but if I've got to have it I'll get it as well as another main jet just in case.I read a post where someone sent there stock exhaust off and had it reworked with dual outlets?? Maybe Drummer did it,not sure??

Seems like Buellistic or Bobthompson or someone like that cut the end off the stock pipe at the weld, removed some internal baffling and welded the end back with another outlet.

I imagine if you know how to weld it wouldn't be too tough. I don't think Drummer does tube-frame exhausts any more, but you could sure check with them to verify.

I have the Supertrapp now and it requires a front hanger. Not sure on the D&D but I believe most aftermarket slip-ons are made to mount using stock hardware and mounting points.

Do you still have the snorkel in your airbox? If so you can remove it and open up the inner filter housing for more flow. I put a K&N in my bike before doing the exhaust and it ran terrible, even with the jetting... there was just too much air in and not enough exhaust flow.

There are some tips in here from last year, maybe late summer on dialing in your air/fuel mix with the bike running. basically you count the number of turns between stumbling points for the mix then set it half way for best mixture. I don't know much about carbs so I try to avoid messing with mine.

The Y exhaust hanger is required for the D&D race header, but not for the slip on.

Ok,I decided on the V&H from American Sportbike, should I order some extra jets.As said I'm stock except for the 45 slow 2.5 turns on the mixture and a K&N filter in the stock airbox.

The shop set mine up with a 200 for the after-market exhaust.

You could contact Kevin Drummer and see if he'd still do a Tuber Muffler...Always wanted one of those...

He's got several no's posted to requests for tuber mufflers posted in his threads in the sponsor section.

(I was browsing for XB info last week and found those threads)

I knew a guy when I lived in Seattle that put a cherry bomb on his M2. Sounded great. $20 at auto-zone. He even left it red.

SC, If your bike is a 2002, you should already have the updated ex. bracket. I have a 2K M2 and it didn't. When I changed ex. brackets I also had to change voltage reg. bracket because reg. was mounted horizontal and needed to be vertical as per picture above.
I have the Buell Racing Exhaust(header& muffler) and use the Auto Zone cherry bomb as a back up muffler when I have the other off for repacking. Sounds so good I leave it on for months at a time.
