Looking for an upgrade of my rear brake master cylinder.
Any suggestions/experiences?

Why not put a sportster M/C on there? I've thought about that for the rear, since I have one sittin' at my Dad's house.

Why not put a sportster M/C on there?
Besides the strange look on a Buell and besides the weight and the dimensions,not to mention what a pain it definetely will be to get this fat part mounted somewhere,do you really think that the Sportsterīs m/c would perform better?I donīt.

Yeah, I suppose it would look more at home on an S2 since it would match the side plates. I was under the impression that it has a bigger bore than the tuber M/Cs and it's cheap and readily available.

Why would you want to upgrade the master? Just do the 4 piston PM brake that works with the stock maser and you have much more stopping power.

Check some Ducati masters, they still use Brembo and have different bores, so they should bolt right up.

Get better pads instead of the rock hard stockers.

I still don't know how people think the stock rear brake is insufficient.

If you are using the front brake right the rear tire will barely touch the ground, if at all.

Iīm riding good sinter pads and the 4 piston rear calipers all look oversized to me.
No need to argue at all.

I guess the question would be...

in what way would you like to upgrade your master cylinder?

Maybe switching to braded rear brake lines will give you the feel that you are looking for.

Are you looking for more lever travel, less travel, firmer pressure, more progressive feel?

Actually Iīm looking for more progressive feel.
Rear braded steel line is on the bike already.

I have a brembo radial master on front and it is super progressive. You feel like you are wired into the pads.

Let us know what you decide for the rear.

I would love to have that rear master, and I believe it would bolt right up to my S2, but no way in hell I'd pay 1600 bones for a master cylinder!

wow those masters are expensive.

I changed the master in my 96 tahoe and which is like 4 times bigger than that and it was less than $200 and it stops that big tank on a dime.

I guess I can't see why those things are worth so much.

This is a small caliper, compact self contained master, will be very progressive feeling.

He didn't mention needing something economical.

His bike, his decision, his wallet.

I'm just making suggestions and didn't want to assume these were outside his budget.

Check the Banke site for Brake Parts, look at the Grimeca, they make decent stuff. You can probably find it better 'over there' anyway. Or google Grimeca ?
